I don't get people who claim this or the kinect are just ripping off the wii. Sure, maybe they have motion sensing now but every machine has got to evolve somehow, its like saying the ps1 ripped off the n64 because it could support 3d graphics (Or whatever the first machine with 3d graphics was) And yes, this is coming from a wii owner.

@ivaneduardo747 It's there so the camera can track it, along with the gyroscope inside it that works out the exact position on it. The gyro works out the angle it's being held and the ball lets it know how close or far away from the camera it is because it's a known size. Looks a little stupid but it does the job, and rather well looking at some early reviews. It's far more accurate than the WiiMote.

While the Kinect brings a whole new league of gameplay, its not just moving around and the camera detecting movement, anything can do that. @Mattophobia IT'S SOFTWARE. And if it weren't for the quality of the cams, there wouldn't be any lag. But the fact of the matter is, Kinect captures at 30 FPS, which is DREADFUL for latency. For successful, lagless mo-cap, it has to be at least DOUBLE the framerate of the game you're using to control it. The Eye captures 60 to 120 FPS! The Move system is already better in regards to latency, not to mention processing overhead. And body, head, and face tracking is possible on PS3 with the Eye
