I know this is late but I love this topic idea. I think soul mates can come in varied forms. I have a best friend that is a soul mate. I also had a cat years ago that I felt a very deep connection with. My husband is my soul mate. I'm also sure that there are more to come....:))

Tobie, I don't know. I've been disappointed by so many people who I thought we had some sort of 'cosmic' connection only to find out that they were nothing more than a facade. The sad reality that we have to face is that more often than not, people befriend us to fulfill some sort of personal agenda, then they toss you aside like yesterday's garbage once they're done using you up.

there is no such thing as soul mates, in my opinion. there are people that share your beliefs and share a connection with you, but there is no one who truly stands as the same soul as you are. thus IMO, there isn't a true soul mate, but a soul connection (doesn't that sound like one of those dance programs on int he 70s or 80s?)

We met in highschool. I was 16, he was 19 - my brother's friend. LOL When we 1st met, I would have sooner died than date that wild child. ;) Became best friends over many years; the love and trust building. We never dated each other until about a year before we married in our mid 20s. We both knew that we had to grow as separate individuals 1st and mature, before we got together. The ~chemistry~ was always there - and explosive! ;)

I believe there are different types of soulmates...romantic and friendship.
