  • Hell of a good song writer.

  • love love love Jackson Browne

  • The next attention whore ass-clown whining about his fucking mother needs to stop it, that all.

  • @Smackdaddy9 You sir, need to calm the fuck down.

  • forrest gump sent me here

  • my fav is somebody's baby which is forever associated with one my fav movies of all time fast times at ridgemont high so funny

  • @tom321974 thats one of the best movies ever

  • Hey guys, if you like his music...check out my music on You Tube...Debbie Tomko Your gonna love the sound....Thanks..:-)

  • why cant i veiw the stay vid

  • In 65, I was 21. Runnin' on wine, cigarettes and topless go-go dancers.... In 77 (when this was written), I was married, again, quit smoking and wine - go-go dancers seemed to drift away. Where are those 65 year-olds now?

  • Music today is somewhat crap....But at least we can "Hook Up" and listen to old classic's.....THOSE were the days....

  • In '69 I was 20......the road isn't rushing under my wheels as quickly any more.....if you're young.....run hard, try hard.....have fun, don't be shy, speak up and do.....'69 to '09 and beyond goes quickly.

  • 14 people accidentally clicked the wrong button right?

  • It sucks so much to be born in 1997...*sigh*

  • @JamesBayCree97 Kid, you'll figure it all out soon. Be happy with what you've got. Just do your best to find others who share your taste. But also enjoy shitty music and do stupid things. I wasted my high school years because I was afraid to love life and live it to the fullest. I'm in college now, and I just came clean to my loving parents about what I really want to do with my life, and that's become a writer of film and literature. I just wish I had told them that when I was your age.

  • @JamesBayCree97 But the point is, I said the same thing when I was your age, that was half a decade ago. Don't think about what you don't have, think about what you have. Just be happy you weren't born in 1998 or 1999, and keep the message of all the music that I'm guessing you love, all of the classic rock and roll that seems to be "running on empty" in terms of being written these days. Just be happy. I'm sure you didn't expect a big message back to your comment, but b/c I wrote that same

  • @JamesBayCree97 comment on this video 5 years ago, I just feel I gotta share what wisdom I have after those 5 long years. Be good, James Bay Cree.

  • @theatlantisrise You're a genius.

  • @JamesBayCree97 Hit me up on AIM if you ever wanna talk. cmonitsjustcover.

  • @theatlantisrise whats AIM?

  • @JamesBayCree97 Never thought I'd see the day haha. nigeltobjy @ gmail dot com is my email.

  • I love this song. As far as Jackson Browne.....I have friends who still think he beat up Darryl Hannah.

  • i actually like this version better then the eagles=) awsome video

  • They don't write music like this anymore ... too bad.

  • my mums favorite song, i love her, i miss her so much, this song always makes me cry.... sums up my mothers spirit, a true fighter, love you so much think of you and miss you every day.

  • Great college memories.

  • I hate this guy's politics, but what a talent he is. Great voice, too.

  • @nsav8 so you're pro-nuclear war, pro-communist China, and for the pollution..yeah that's why there's a "Jackson Browne Day" and not a scumbag day for you.

  • @azraeldeath420 The former head of Greenpeace is pro-nuclear. Get your head out of your arse and realize nuclear power is clean, and--if done properly--the safest source of energy around. Quit listening to Chris Matthews and do some independent research, lol.

  • That male backup singer looks like a real winner. I've seen better attitude at the dentist office on root canal day.

  • @lindabelle1225 METH

  • Jackson wrote several songs which he GAVE to the Eagles for FREE. they turned those songs into hits. This is an all around good guy. Massively talented. Had many heart breaks in his life ,but never stopped being a cool guy.

  • @390bullitt1968: Were The Eagles "good guys" and repaid the favor?

  • @DakotaY24 - I have no idea. JB just liked them and wanted them to also succeed. He wrote songs for others and gave them away, no strings attached, but I forget who the other lucky bands were. It seems like he did a whole lot of good for others. It is so sad to read of his life and the tragic events that surrounded it. Truly a first class person like few others out there. I have a lot of respect for him.

  • @390bullitt1968: Another question for you, the song, Take It Easy, did he write that? Did he sing that with the Eagles? If not, who is singing that?

  • @DakotaY24 - I don't know. Quite honestly I know very little about JB, but what little I know is he is a very generous person, and one of the most talented song writers -singers in our time. It is sad that such super nice people often have such a rough road in life.

    .

  • @DakotaY24 Glenn Frey: quoting Browne 'I'm stuck [on the 2nd verse]' "...and I said 'It's a girl, my lord, in a flatbed Ford slowin' down to take a look at me. ' That was my contribution...just finishing the second verse. Jackson was so thrilled. He said, 'Okay! We cowrote this." From the notes accompanying "Eagles The Very Best Of"

  • come back to australia jackson. seen you at eton vinery 10 yers ago. give us more you genius

  • i could run miles and miles in them shoes

  • What an awesome video! Thanks for uploading! One of my favorite songs. Jackson Browne is a true legend.

  • nice

  • Mr. Browne was a good performer in his time; Unfortunately, today, I doubt someone like him would make it in TODAY'S Music Industry. That saddens me.

  • @kja427 Me too! Used to be you worked hard, did ALOT of gigs, gathered a following and THEN mnaybe the studios noticed you. You recorded on a 32 or 64 track analog tape, the music and performance of it were everything, live was where it was at! it was what it was, nothing more. but every ounce of energy, sweat and heart came through and you could relive that each and every time you played the album. NOW they make the star (notice I didn't say "artist") almost out of nothing.

  • @kenbu2

That makes him a hundred time better than you, you in-bred hillbilly. Hey, I hear yur momma (who is also your sister) a-callin ya home, time for supper, grits n' road-kill cat. Mmmmm! best eatin' you had all week.

  • @Owyheemud Lol

  • @kenbu2 He is entitled to his stand on politics, it doesn't make him a POS. I definitely do not agree with his politics bit I love his music and have since the 70's and will continue to do so. Ain't it great to be an American where you can believe how you want?

  • David Lindley makes this song!!

  • Forest gump movie/song

  • i remember running the long beach marathon back in 1985 and this song was blaring from someones speaker...takes me back to those good ole daze

  • Wore this Track Out 70s Where The Best, not Easy getting Old

  • @TheKraut59 I look in the mirror each day and wonder just who in the hell it is looking back at me and wonder what he did with my youth.

  • best artist in music ever. i,m only 40

  • I bought this album back in '77great album that makes you think of life on the road touring with a band, I've still got it but my record player is way back in the garage, I don't agree that music today is crap, yes, some of it like always, but there's plenty of great music to suit every taste if you look for it.

  • I listened to this on the radio... that's on my Ipod. What an incredible song.

  • My favorite song from the first time I heard it. That makes it the best song ever written. The tune is so catchy, the energy so strong , the lyrics so relevant and the harmonies so well positioned. None of this even begins to describe how this song resonates with me way deep, deep down. I can listen to it twenty times in a row and not get sick of it. There are more Jackson Browne songs that I like a lot but this one is on the peak while these others are about twenty feet down.

  • One of the best songs ever written, what a talent. This makes me long for the old days, there s nothing but crap these days.

  • @xterra43 love it.

  • @xterra43 My Best Friend and I played this when we always left the ship Going Home after a 9 month Cruise!

  • @xterra43 its around just harder to find.

  • @xterra43 Oh yeah and I listened to this over and over on the airline radio system from La to Fiji along with ELO...Those were the days

  • @xterra43 You should listen to his other stuff if this is your favorite. This is good but listen to "Late For The Sky" and "For Everyman".

  • Just saw him at Canter's tonight and he hasn't really aged. Very nice man.

  • I sometime get into harping about tools like Foster the Retarded People and the age of non-singers all produced Auto-tune .Pro-tools shit that sounds like shit....This music is timeless sitting around and talking or in a club listening my college roomates band singing this note for not except for David Linley's parts...Doing Lines of Peruvian and smoking Columbian Red Bud....Shit those were the days,,,,

  • Mann i love this song. You can never go wrong with Jackson Browne. Everything this guys released has been beyond solid. Hes a real icon of the 70's and an all around incredible musician. Plus ill always respect him for helping to start Warren Zevons solo career. If i ever get to meet this guy im totally buying him a beer

  • there is great music in every era, you just got to listen more........

ignore the strange nightmare in the corner ! We'll get into that rotten stuff soon enough!............chill out and enjoy the music to one and all

  • Brings me back when I lived in Corunna.

  • This makes me wanna run arcoss the country like Forrest.

  • damn I loved the '70s !

  • Ohh man you just stepped in a big pile of dog shit.

    It happens

  • 11 people have never ran on empty....

  • 501st first

  • I'm 55, just so you know where I'm coming from. I won't get into bashing today's "pop" music because it makes me feel uncomfortable sounding like my own parents in 1963 getting after Ed Sullivan for having "noise" like the Beatles on. However, I will posit this question: "Does anyone really think that 30-plus years from now, you'll still hear Lady Gaga songs on the radio, or whatever the medium of transmission will be at that time?"

  • @desertswo I can't stand Lady Gaga, but to be fair, you should look at the duet she did with Tony Bennett. I loved her doing that, and was really surprized! :) So she may very well be around, for a long time.

  • This is for Linda. Won't ever listen to it again without thinking of her. I loved this album when it came out in 1977. A 13 year old getting to know all about this kind of great music.

  • Jackson brown is one of very very few non country bands that uses the 40s/50s model rickenbacker lap steel, the first electric guitar in the world. it produces a sound that you cant find anywhere else. I have one and its awesome. more bands should follow his lead,

  • Happy birthday, Jackson.

  • 1977 just graduated, and crusin to small towns to visit boyfriends, and running on empty, in our run down car, coasting down the transcanada, to the next small town gas station, with no money, scrounging up a couple of bucks we found in the car seats, the trunk and our suitcases, good ole days, we had fun

  • @francesnahanee , Wow that must have been so cool

  • heinspired when i was locked up love him vey much

  • Jackson Brown is one of the best!!!

  • David Lindley is a GOD

  • You are all cool. God Bless!

  • RUN FORREST RUNNNNNNN!

  • We never realize how good we had it until it is all gone.

  • @feldgendarmerie Don't it always seem to go? (They paved paradise...) :)

  • I was 16 when this song and album came out. Some of the greatest times of my life, which it took a decade or two to realize.

  • Jim Gordon is such a great drummer.

  • Run Forrest! :D

Man the nostalgia... always a classic

  • A cornerstone of classic rock.

  • A real classic, Im driving my high school love around when this song was released,

And we still drive around today listening to it, Arrrr how it would be nice to be that Young again, However this song makes us feel like a teenager again, Good stuff

  • This song is soooo sweet.

  • I just felt like running!

  • I just felt like running!

  • I listened to this song in like 1978 or 79 flying on Air New Zealand flight to Nadi Fiji..I was drug on the flight by my folks for a month long family tour of Fiji, NZ and Australia....This was my link to what I thought was civilization listening on the plane music choice set flying over.....I had a blast in the end but I still remember me pacing the aisles of the plane helping out the crew because now at 47 my mom figures out I was ADD and can't sit still for 5 minutes at a time....

  • I was 6 yrs old when this came out

  • JB all bouncy-like! It's a bouncy kinda tune. Pretty soon, I'll be runnin' DOWN 101!! (Can't wait, I'm determined to prolong summer as much as I can.)

  • running on empty is how i feel now that i have a beautiful daughter and lack of sleep the first few days after she was born

  • 'Try to do what you can to keep your love alive'

  • An incredible song from a TIMELESS ear never to be repeated plus this guy had hair that would make a catwalk model envious!

  • Jackson Browne is one of musiciens that creates and sings with his soul. I have always loved his music.

Thank you very much for uploading.

  • Nobody beats David Lindley's freight train slide. Nobody.

  • @Suzywriter Listen to Memo from Turner and the best slide guitar ever by Ry Cooder

  • What do you know? Singing AND playing instruments....and live too. Bling? don't think so.

  • @kristisass1 That you could disgrace yourself in such a lowly, filthy, pus-minded manner as to speak of pissing, farting, shitting and even using the ''C'' word, shows you up as being a pitiful, slutty maggot. Keep your whore attitude off youtube, you godless, diseased trollop.

  • @TheJer1963 I've lost the LP years ago, man, but I have the CD. I had ALL his CDs once. There's only two left. Damned thieves !

  • @TheJer1963 What ? You still have the record ! You've done well. I've had it on CD since 1997. I had ALL his CDs, but there's only two left now. Damned thieves !

  • jackson browne is a beautiful singer with his music that brings goodness and real feelings when i listen to it.... he is a rock legend and his music will live on.... geemosqueda

  • jackson browne is a beautiful singer with his music that brings goodness and real feelings when i lisyen to it.... he is a rock legend

  • wonder how much he made off Forest Gump

  • I was 16 years old in 1977, and when I discovered Jackson Browne it was the beginning of decades of musical joy in ALL of his records. For piano, guitar and vocal prowess, few could hold a candle to Jackson Browne !

  • @rickcoram1 I was 13 in 1977 and remember when this album came out. Still got it. There was some great music made back then for sure.

  • there's a lot of frustration with the state of music today in this thread. but there are still plenty of musicians around who hand-stitch their stuff. i know, i'm one of them, and there's a whole new generation coming up, too. the problem is, folks out there aren't listening much. it's not what the industry is punting and not what mtv scene is carrying. remember, back then, jackson browne was mainstream. now he'd be somewhere out in the alt/indie/songwriter field with the rest of us loners.

  • Honey you really tempt me, the way you look so kind, I want to know who you are but I'm running behind......can't stop listening to this song, it's so lyrically relevant & the music just doesn't get any better!

  • ....I don't know how to tell you all just how crazy this feels, in '85 I was 17 & running up one-on-one, I don't where I'm running now I'm just running on..Gotta do what you can just to keep your love alive, Trying not to confuse it with what you do to survive, in '89 I was 21 & I called the road my own, I don't know when that road turned into the road I'm on, I look around at the friends that I used to turn to pull me through, looking into their eyes I see them running too...

  • they played, sung (ant not tweaked in a sound booth) AND wrote the music. If they didn't sound good live they didn't last back then. Holla at having been 17 when this was recorded, lovin' it all these years, and it still don't get much better than this!

  • I've noticed a lot of singers from this era not only play intruments & sing, but play multiple intruments...this is a great example of that!

  • The 'Reactions' bar was lacking 'EPIC!'

  • not really a jbrown fan but seriously the guy never wrote a bad song

  • I find this song gives me inspiration when I'm jogging. Keeps me going.

  • doesn't get any better than this! Pooor kids of today just don't know what they've missed out on. All they know is spittin in a microphone a bunch of crap you cant understand and bass that has their speakers rattlelin and tore up.

  • @FE390FAN i completely agree. even though im 21, i love this music. i love all clasic rock from the 70's. i first listened to KISS when i was about 7 and they've been my fave band since. i love 80's hair metal :ratt, motley crue, judas priest. And some stuff from the 90's, some of the pop songs that are easy listening. But i also love heavy metal : bullet for my valentine, disturbed, avenged sevenfold, meshuggah, children of bodom, amon amarth. and some blues. it all depends on the words and beat

  • I remember when this album came out, just a kid then but I knew what good music was. This stuff never gets old. You should hear his song, Going down to Cuba. Really good. Love turning it up while puffing away on a nice Montecristo

and a glass of Havana Club 7 year old.

  • great song

  • DAvid Lindley on slide guitar. Russ Kunkell on drims who played for Dan Fogleberg too. What a great era of rock...

  • another one of those songs that conger up memories; a few years in Florida's DOC,set free with a hundred dollar bill,a lawyer who was my salvation and lover, picking me up at the Sally Port, stopping off at a cheap motel in Ocala and giving me a good taste of what memories are made of.....

  • alejandra:mom have u seen my barbie doll?daniel is doing good he weighs 670 now he works at the gay bar making 3 an hour.....excuse me i have to fart .... ok., im back ....wait let me take a shit....aaaaa that felt good ....yessenia and me dont get along anymore...i miss matty fuckin me at 3 am .....im eating cheerios as we speak and im naked..i just spilt milk on my cunt .....they come in apple now...maybe ill do the velcro fly later and urinate on professor tom grujolsef at the u of chile

  • @kristisass1 The fuck is this shit?

Get the hel off Youtube now. You kind of people make me sick and ruin Youtube.

    Fuck off

  • kristisass1 U ARE GOING TO HELL IN ONE MINUTE FOR POSTING THIS REMARK ENJOY T / C

  • @franlank1 What do you mean, i'm going to hell?

Look at your first comment. WHAT THE HELL IS THAT LOAD OF SPAM SUPPOSED TO MEAN!?

Its just some random shit you put on a video, and all you do is make yourself look like an ass. I don't even get it, it's a load of shit and spam.

  • Born in the era of Jackson Browne, The Eagles, Linda Ronstadt, Johni Mitchell....how lucky am I?

  • JB is as goodd as it gets for song writing.

  • Good song good singer.

  • This music will never get old, it will always be new to someone

  • jackson browne one of the greatest songwriters that ever lived

  • David Lindley! How lucky was Jackson Browne, eh?

  • I find it hard to comprehend how one of the seminal live rock performances of all time has only 500,000 hits...A classic and it will be one 100 years from now.

  • I'm about to be 17! Lol i'm still 16.

  • I confess I love this song, even it makes feel OLD! I'm still trying to keep "the love alive", hard as it is.

  • @SpiderMeema LMAO You might be runnin' on empty, but I'm not.

  • @christophermitra What have we got?

  • I remember this song from BJ and the Bear. Brings back childhood memories. It feels like going thrue a time warp

  • Browne is one of those artists that I need to take on a long car trip, just fits the mood...

  • I am running my neighbors crazy as I play this at full blast. This is the best. I live for this man.

  • I WAS seventeen in 1965...and I can tell you all that this song touches my heart and is just as relevant today as it always was....Jackson Browne is my ALL TIME FAVORITE SINGER AND SONG WRITER....WAY TO GO JACKSON BROWNE!!!

  • I like this song. It reminds me of a better time in my life.
