In 65, I was 21. Runnin' on wine, cigarettes and topless go-go dancers.... In 77 (when this was written), I was married, again, quit smoking and wine - go-go dancers seemed to drift away. Where are those 65 year-olds now?
In '69 I was 20......the road isn't rushing under my wheels as quickly any more.....if you're young.....run hard, try hard.....have fun, don't be shy, speak up and do.....'69 to '09 and beyond goes quickly.

Jackson wrote several songs which he GAVE to the Eagles for FREE. they turned those songs into hits. This is an all around good guy. Massively talented. Had many heart breaks in his life ,but never stopped being a cool guy.

It seems like he did a whole lot of good for others. It is so sad to read of his life and the tragic events that surrounded it. Truly a first class person like few others out there. None of this even begins to describe how this song resonates with me way deep, deep down. I can listen to it twenty times in a row and not get sick of it. There are more Jackson Browne songs that I like a lot but this one is on the peak while these others are about twenty feet down.

Jackson brown is one of very very few non country bands that uses the 40s/50s model rickenbacker lap steel,the first electric guitar in the world. it produces a sound that you cant find anywhere else. I have one and its awesome. more bands should follow his lead,
1977 just graduated, and crusin to small towns to visit boyfriends, and running on empty, in our run down car, coasting down the transcanada, to the next small town gas station, with no money, scrounging up a couple of bucks we found in the car seats, the trunk and our suitcases, good ole days, we had fun

I listened to this song in like 1978 or 79 flying on Air New Zealand flight to Nadi Fiji..I was drug on the flight by my folks for a month long family tour of Fiji, NZ and Australia....This was my link to what I thought was civilization listening on the plane music choice set flying over.....I had a blast in the end but I still remember me pacing the aisles of the plane helping out the crew because now at 47 my mom figures out I was ADD and can't sit still for 5 minutes at a time....

However, I will posit this question: "Does anyone really think that 30-plus years from now, you'll still hear Lady Gaga songs on the radio, or whatever the medium of transmission will be at that time?"

@desertswo I can't stand Lady Gaga, but to be fair, you should look at the duet she did with Tony Bennett. I loved her doing that, and was really surprized! :) So she may very well be around, for a long time.

Jackson brown is one of very very few non country bands that uses the 40s/50s model rickenbacker lap steel,the first electric guitar in the world. it produces a sound that you cant find anywhere else. I have one and its awesome. more bands should follow his lead,

1977 just graduated, and crusin to small towns to visit boyfriends, and running on empty, in our run down car, coasting down the transcanada, to the next small town gas station, with no money, scrounging up a couple of bucks we found in the car seats, the trunk and our suitcases, good ole days, we had fun

I listened to this song in like 1978 or 79 flying on Air New Zealand flight to Nadi Fiji..I was drug on the flight by my folks for a month long family tour of Fiji, NZ and Australia....This was my link to what I thought was civilization listening on the plane music choice set flying over.....I had a blast in the end but I still remember me pacing the aisles of the plane helping out the crew because now at 47 my mom figures out I was ADD and can't sit still for 5 minutes at a time....

there's a lot of frustration with the state of music today in this thread. but there are still plenty of musicians around who hand-stitch their stuff. i know, i'm one of them, and there's a whole new generation coming up, too. the problem is, folks out there aren't listening much. it's not what the industry is punting and not what mtv scene is carrying. remember, back then, jackson browne was mainstream. now he'd be somewhere out in the alt/indie/songwriter field with the rest of us loners.

And some stuff from the 90's, some of the pop songs that are easy listening.But i also love heavy metal : bullet for my valentine, disturbed, avenged sevenfold, meshuggah, children of bodom, amon amarth. and some blues. it all depends on the words and beat
