You only need to type mount -uw / then the rest of it.

You have to turn the Mac off and then hold the power button and command s to start the single user mode. Hope it helps!!

@SwedishShit you would need to enable it via system preferences>accounts and users>login options>join>open directory utility then click the edit drop down menu and enable root account. it will ask for a password then reboot it and there ya go

@Rilxoy the easest way is to upgrade your os to snowleopard or newer. this hack doesnt work in those versions of os x. there is also a way to dissable single user mode, and there by make this hack impossible. im not sure how to do that, youll have to do some research. goodluck

It isn't just any admin account, it is the root (or "superuser") account.

Also, you don't add a new account, you change the passwd on an existing one.

@crazedmilkshake you cannot change the admin password like this for the whole district. what this hack (put very simply) does is it makes a new admin and password. the old admin will still be able to use his account and the new admin will only be on that particular computer.

@theONLYsebo You know what? I understood that it's an account that was already on the computer, but before I understood that I deleted it. You can delete it using a terminal with the following command:

sudo dscl . delete /Users/root

The problem is that I think I deleted it permanently because I can't enable it again with what you show in the vid.

Is there anything bad with deleting the root account? Did I actually delete it? If not then how can I get it back? Please tell me if you know.
