This is beautiful, however I feel that the oboe could have been a bit softer... I don't quite like the tone :/

@OAlittlechief don't comment if you don't like it. The video is not going away, because I like it. That's all that matters. The performer is not on trial, neither is this a contest or festival......................­......and, there is nothing wrong with the tone.

@OAlittlechief It IS a solo, and the oboe isn't the loudest instrument, so when you perform a solo, you have to play loud.

Stunning. Julia Girdwood's tone is beautiful, warm and intimate. You don't become the principal oboist of the Royal Opera House with 'AWFULLLLLL' tone .....

Sam Barber never ceases to amaze me with his wonderful ear and fine, sure sense of melody. This is the first time I have encountered this piece of music.  Profound and dignified at once. This will hold up over many hearings. No gimmicks. Just music. Happily, the soloist and the strings are up to the challenge. Beautiful and moving performance.
