  • thanks, this vid was the final push for me, gonna get one tommorow

  • nature porn woot woot

  • lovely!

  • nice shots! the soundtrack does wonders for it too. i'd love to know what it is...

  • @Sykkra i wrote it, see description

  • This is nice, how can I get similar results with the kit lens on the same camera? What are your aperture and iso settings?

Should I buy a 50mm prime lens for it?

    Beautiful.

  • I have the kit lens with this camera. what are your settings with the 17-85mm? How can I get similar results? Are you manually changing aperture and iso as well as focus?

Should a buy a nice 50mm prime lens?

  • @MEMilesmusic I don't remember the iso or aperture settings udring this shoot, but I know I was hovering around the 85mm range and keeping iso low.

As for the 50mm prime, yes, get the nifty fifty and live happily every after. Looks great on this camera

  • Ah no, it's not the kit lens (which is the 17-55mm, got confused), the 17-85mm is a much better lens, hence the great image.

  • drooling....drooling.... [movie finished] done drooling :P

  • wow.. in full HD no less.. Love the visuals...

Ginger Nudeberry.. Yo dawg.. U the MAN

  • That was really amazing, Ethan!!!

    Congrats boy! I luved!!!

  • Wow I can't stop crying. That was just so....Wow.

  • The shot from :09 to :16 was awesome!!

  • I got a mean case of the munchies after watching this... but naw seriously, looks phenomenal! Can't wait for you guys to really put it through its paces.

  • Beautiful Ethan! the dimension is amazing and your movement flawless. Love it!

  • Niiiice! Keep'em coming

What lens did you use? (surely not the kit lens right?)

Do you have some kind of a dolly or glide track? How did you get that movement without shaking?

Like the music too, very moody, although there's something with the sub bass at one point of the loop, probably a mixing/mastering issue.

  • lens is 17-85mm

    handheld

i don't hear a bass issue. where are you hearing it?

  • Wow, so it is the kit lens, the IS sure works well.

I hear a dissonance on the second note of the bass line due to its wave form or something. If I'm the only one its no big deal.

  • Why, this isn't your typical Ethan Newberry fare.

  • Why, this isn't your typical Ethan Newberry fare. Well done, sir.

  • Great job, Ethan! Love the camera and the possibilities it brings you now to cause more trouble...in HD!

You said the controls are close to your Rebel, but have you found anything yet that's more difficult to do operation wise in comparison?

  • Amazing stuff!!!

  • Now with a DSLR that does video can you manually set the Aperture and shutter speed while in video mode? that looks pretty dope. it gives the video a great depth of field. maybe I'll have to sell my XSi and get one of those bad boys. Photography is one of my true loves, I went through photography school and the whole nines!

  • yes, there are manual controls with ISO, Aperture, etc. I'm not a fully trained photog, but I'm so pleased with these results! If anything, go check one out in-store if they have them in stock. It's soo close to my old rebel Xti with controls, but FAR surperior in all quality respects.

  • That's pretty much the most orgasmic video you've created yet!

  • It has a Planet Earth BBC feel to the imagery.
