@jonesy716 This is a 77 Diesel Block (350D casting) which had a flat tappet cam. The diesel blocks from 80s and even the gas blocks from the 80's ie.307 had roller cams which has the bigger diameter lifter bore. But there are retrofit lifters to convert flat tappet to roller but are expensive.
Man I had an 81 eldorado That came with an olds diesel from the factory. It was converted to gas but they never changed the crank so it still had crazy compression and timing issues. It did run though. Sold that car for $300. Dumb Dumb Dumb!
Mine had 455 big block "C" heads and a quadrajunk carb. Friend is restoring a 71 cutlass. He is not happy with me for selling that car. I am not happy with me for selling that car. I am kicking myself in the arse!
Whats the fun in buying something when you build it your self, build something massive with power, and for cheap. I did all machine work, assembly and everything myself.
(wickedblackcamaro) the 350 oldsmobile diesel is a block that is bulletproof its high in nickel and is built like a 4 bolt main these motors were made to handle 22 to 1 compression!!!! olds 350 diesel is made to handle 700+ hp all day long alot of pro builders use these engines for the 1/4 mile i have 1 and im debating on building it up you know whats funny is every salvage yard i ever been to since the early 90's even to this day every diesel block is gone and the diesel heads are left behind.
All that and you are running manifolds and quiet mufflers? I was very dissapointed with this vid.

Got goose bumps when you cranked it with no manifolds wooh gotta love some rocket power!

Where do you stab in the distributor on a Diesel block?
stonent 7 months ago
@stonent theres an air pump in the place of the distributor just pull it out and drop in a distributor.

@graffin00000 most people when they convert those cars to gas they just yank the diesel and drop in a 350 gas engine.
hurst1979olds 1 year ago
what did you have to do to do the diesel to gas conversion? i heard of ppl using these blocks
JAMESS30288 2 years ago
why didnt u just get a regular gas crate engine

good point, never thought of converting diesel to gas like that, but if you know how and got the parts, why not i guess?
wickedblackcamaro 2 years ago
so u replaced heads and pistons?
heads on the diesel were idi I believe.
The crank diametre will be thick so high rpm will be an issue for oil supply spinning off mains/ heat build up, but it will be strong for sure.

it wouldnt have 1/2 the power
