God...Jeremy Irons oozes a menace that I'm CONVINCED isn't even acting, it's fucking natural. This guy's good....he might even be fantastic...but I can't even tell because Jeremy Irons' version was a masterpiece that can't be duplicated.
This guy did a damn brilliant job considering how difficult his job was compared to Irons'. He obviously wasn't concentrating on the vocal characterization as much as Irons-- he had to perform this live. MANY times. His visual presentation of the character would have made up for anything lacking in the vocal department, so you shouldn't judge an actor that was meant to be SEEN if you've only heard them. Irons, of course, was an amazing Scar, but he had a cartoon acting for him.
Heh, I'd like to see if the hyenas actually goosestep in the musical- pissing off several Germans and Austrians in the process. I only say this to see if they caught on to the Nazi symbolism.
I don't like this Scar's voice. He tries, but it simply isn't as powerful or commanding as Jeremy Irons and (Jim Cummings)
Wow, this is really good, and I think you did a good job with the synching. As for the comment about the singer sounding too British, I think that you'll find Jeremy Irons was British too, and I'm sure that we'll all agree that he did a wonderful job.
@fahmad27 well Jeremy Irons just did the 1st 2 verses, until he screamed the line, you won't get a sniff without me, and broke his vocal cords, then Jim Cummings (ED) had to finish the song off for hin
@fahmad27 If this is what they sound like the whole time, I share your sentiment
They sound like the Chipmunks after 20 years of smoking
With the original, I truely believed that Jeremy Irons and Jim Cummings meant what they were singing. The voices still fit here, but I can still tell its acting.
I wouldn't have minded this version if it hadn't been for the fact that Jeremy Irons was so kick-ass,. Good attempt at the lip-syncing, unfortunate that this song seems awkward :D
He's good, but this guy can't beat Jeremy Iron's rough "growl-like" voice when he sings it. It's so much more powerful and scary. I compared both versions and the movie one gives me the chills.
I agree with TheGirl. This guy is good, but Irons is better. This guy makes Scar sound more narsissistic than he already was (and that's saying something).
But as for the vid itself, nice job with the lipsync!
I think Jeremy Irons did a better job as Scar. When this person (I have no idea who it is!) does it, he sings to much. Scar sort of yells some of the lines, not sings. And his voice to needs to be... I don't know.. scratchier? when he says "You won't get a sniff without me!" But, overall, this person did a good job. =)
@TheGirlWhoDubs98 Totally agreed. Jeremy Irons did a magnificent job voicing Scar, making him one of the best, if not THE best, Disney villain. And I think this John Vickery didn't quite show Scar's personality as well as Jeremy Irons.
@TheGirlWhoDubs98 I agree, but Jeremy Irons also lost his voice after "You won't get a sniff without me"; the actor who voiced Ed actually had to finish the recording for him. Considering they do at least two performances a day, I can't blame the actor for not yelling the lines as much. ;)
@TheGirlWhoDubs98@TheGirlWhoDubs98 I agree, but Jeremy Irons also lost his voice after "You won't get a sniff without me"; the actor who voiced Ed actually had to finish the recording for him. Considering they do at least two performances a day, I can't blame the actor for not yelling the lines as much. ;)
If you think about it, though, Irons had a much easier job than Vickery. Vickery would have had to keep up the standard you hear in this video LIVE, concentrating on not just vocally but VISUALLY portraying Scar as well. That's much more than Irons would have to do standing in a recording booth (not to say his job would be easy, putting all the character's energy into his vocal performance). So, because he was juggling a bigger plateful, Vickery deserves better than merely, "He did a good job".
@TheGirlWhoDubs98 John's voice needs more baritone. I love how pretentious he sounds, but Jeremy's version is more like the honey that caught the fly: enticing, ominous, and deliciously evil.
There was a dance part right in the middle after, "You wont get a sniff without me" in the actual show that I wish they would've kept in the recording on the CD..
Well, since I haven't seen the Broadway version of TLK, this is the next best thing. hehe. ^^ Very nice job yet again Jaga. ^^ Very enjoyable AMV. ^^ 5/5 and fav add as always. Keep up the fantastic work my friend. ^^
