It was the arabic scientists who made the teleskope at circa 800 after crist death.

the arabic scientists invented the "observation tube" around the year 900. This tube had no lenses, but it helped the arabic scientists to focus on a part of the sky by eliminating light interference.

However, the "observation tube" was no telescope. The video describes correctly who invented and improved the telescope.

But they had glasses why one can not combine two gathering lenses. Its the easiest step to have two Convex lenses lined behind one by one. You should look my videos "Arabic science". I did this same experiment that with two magnifying glasses when i was a child independantly. Arabs had magnefying glasses themself. So I think the trace is lost in Rome or Venedig. The history books in Rome are hidden very well but one day will come out.

galileo halilei just improved it by setting the glasses in the right order, so the image you see is not head over i think. He boutght it on a market in his city but with bad viision.
