  • 10-15 usd for a dvd which may contain 2-3 eps is fair enough, just to mantain the quality and everything ok, but since they go for much more...around 30-50 per dvd who would not support piracy.

btw even R2 anime dvds have better quality than R1 anime dvds, the industries that should not lose money are the ones from japan, the ones that distribute and sell the dvds, the original ones... in other words the real studios were they are made

  • Might also help if they'd officially release them in OTHER regions. Most are region 2 only, and a lot of people don't have all region DVD players (i figured players like that would be illegal here in the USA). That leaves a lot of fans out in the cold.

My interest is the Zoids series. And my case in point is Zoids Genesis (which if it hadn't been for Youtube i'd have never known it existed. Same with Zoids Fuzors). If they released it here i'd get it in a heartbeat.

  • But because it isn't importing is the only answer, which drives up the cost. If you can even find it (I did see a 4 DVD set (and i'm not sure if it's the full ZG series) on Amazon, for 350.00$... USED. I'd hate to know what a new set costs).

Really Zoids fans in the West were treated like crap for the most part.

  • I think if the anime you download hasn't been dubbed yet or the manga hasn't been officially published, I don't see the problem in downloading it.

  • You're right at 4:32 it's NOT just because of the Recession because Anime sales were already starting to SEVERELY DECREASE starting in 2006 thanks to the Internet. I was told that by someone in the industry.

  • I don't think you can't give the internet the brunt of the blame per se.

  • Yup, so true, thanks 4 informing the people reading these comments.

  • GREAT! VIDEO !!!

  • I'm a real anime fan, u know that since I was little i've been buying/ recieve as gift official anime stuff like: DVD, manga, Tshirts, posters, stickers, cards, bed sheets, figures, plushies, school supplies, etc, no matter what people are always going to download stuff illegally, so, lots of industries like music are also getting less sales, Oh yeah they took out the "SunCoast" from Plaza las Americas and Plaza del Sol, they used to sell lots of anime stuff. FYI @ction sells bootleg DVDs :(

  • hmm -dosent know what to comment-

  • these companies screwed themselves over by trying to screw us over. thats the way i see it.

P.S. at Two Brothers video, alquila "Saber J Marrionette" and "Love Hina". i saw these series by renting them there, and they're still among my fav anime to date :D

P.S.S if ur looking to buy anime, try seeking the box sets that include the whole season. sometimes they have good deals, and u don't get raped trying to buy all the dvd's. O_o

  • dude, ima give u my opinion: u know how many episodes a japanese anime dvd has compared to the english versions they sell us? i was gonna buy a FMA dvd once... 4 episodes for almost 30 bucks... i found the whole damn season for 80 on e-bay, and a japanese dvd can have up to 10 episodes! we live in P.R., we live in poverty dude. download and piracy rules here. do u expect me to waste outragious amounts of money just to support companies? food, gas, clothes, college stuff; thats more important!

  • Yeah, that's exactly why I downloaded stuff as well, those are more important than just downloading anime, but what I'm saying is that if u want to see more new awesome stuff from anime in the future, you should support them but that's if u can and yea, I already borrowed Love Hina and Saber Marionette J years ago and copied it, they're awesome animes. Thanks for the info thought.

  • I agree with you 100%. Don´t suck up to anime companies just because they are losing money. Prices for anime singles are outrageous. They overprice their merchandise. I almost never like anime dubs. I like anime, but I have a life. I can´t spend a lot on anime goods. I rather watch them on TV if that will support the anime industry.

  • @BLOOredd thats why its always good to wait for sales n if u really love a show its worth the money to have

  • @lust4anime hehe that was a year ago. i study animation and graphic design... my views on the matter have changed :)

  • yeah i know what u mean. Ii dont really download anime, the only reason y i would download it is to have the clips to make videos and stuff. Adv is the company that used the stupid copyright on my videos though. Urgh...

  • If you like anime it's stupid to download it instead of buying it. And by that i mean that you never buy anime even though you have the money. I watched all of Cowboy Bebop and all of Samurai Champloo online and i still bought the complete series for both.

  • Well before this month, guess you are right about that, I mean I believed before that if I can download anime, why spend money on those if I can use it for other stuff like food, gas and sumtimes video games, but now I'm starting to think different. But yea, it's hard finding anime DVD's where I live at a decent price thought but if I ever get a chance, I'll try buying a couple of DVD's like Tsubasa Chronicles, Bleach and Air which I like alot.^^

  • Don't feel too bad my state hardly ever had anime dvd's in stores. although Don't forget the the dumbing down of such networks like cartoon network. That is also another reason.
