  • I reckon the quality would have been better then as well.

  • Gotta love public payphones! haha. yep no mobile phones back in those days! Great ad!

  • This commercial is so catchy. I haven't been able to get this out of my head for days LOL!

  • How about love your heart and not the burger.

  • LOVE A BUGGA!

  • That advertisement make me wanna cum. So 80's.

  • I miss that Macca's in the city. That was outside the Hoyts complex on George St. Sydney.

  • I keep waiting for them to scream out "hangin in a chow line" lmao

  • Seems like every decade except this one had a personality of its own...

  • @APocketOfTime - what, you don't call headbands, pedal pushers, leg warmers, bubble skirts and big hair personality?

  • I love these videos!I love mcdonalds!

  • Wait a minute!! McDonald's had fried chicken?!

  • @MattJFisher yeah..here in Phil. we have chicken @ Mc Donald's also Coke Float..

  • @fiammavianka where are you?

  • back then everyone was skinny then mcdonalds came along

  • this video would never make me want mcdonalds. only question myself on the effects of drugs.

  • the pie came in that wrapper, know a days it comes in a little cardboard box with air holes

  • i just noticed that in almost all mcdonalds commercials, everyone is skinny.

    no fat people whatsoever.

    its kinda ironic.

  • @adamgwazhere

    So true

  • This must have been what was left of the disco age lol

  • gets stuck in my head haha

  • Well i guess this is better than the modern McDonald's ads. They really annoy me these days.

  • i thought a more appropriate slogan would be "eat shit and die"

  • that mcdonald's at the end was in front of hoyts cinema george st. I remember going there often as a kid

  • [american]RACIST! IT DONT HAVE AN AFRICAN AMERICEEEN IN IT![/american]

  • mmm i wont to eat a love burger

  • 0:22 - those were the days when men could wear a speedo on American beaches without getting in trouble. In fact there was nothing else than speedos for decades. Funny how the times are changing.

  • Um, this is an Aussie ad.... And can you get in trouble for wearing speedos on American beaches? You guys are like a muslim country in a LOT of ways...

  • @Basseck where do men get into trouble for wearing Speedos on American beaches? It is a faux pax of course, most American men wouldnt be caught dead in one, but they are not illegal.

  • @Basseck wtf are you talking about? men still do that, and they don't give a shit what people think. All you can do is hope that they don't walk up to you, and shoot you in the face with their gay.

  • fried chicken?

  • yeah chicken wtf? i would've gone to red rooter.

  • the blonde at 0:35. Want - her.

  • wheres the old polystyrene containers the burgers came in, collectible now.. I have a couple..

  • I bet there are a few more scattered through landfills that have still not broken down either. I'm sure yours will be in good nick for decades to come lol

  • Chiding womenfolk for dropping rubbish on the ground is a sure fire way to get lucky .

  • where's the fat kids singing the song?

  • Behold...the last death throes of disco music in commercials. If ever there was a moment that it was time to retire disco, this was it.

  • I smell some racism in this vid...

  • how?

  • because every single person in this video is white.

  • So fucking what? I smell racism in rap videos, How? Cause everyone is black.

So how about not playing the race card mate!

That race card crap only works at centerlink

  • Alex, my brother, the thing is when commercials feature all white people they re usually playing hulahoop and dancing around in the suburbs. those rap videos usually take place in a high crime area, when was the last time you actually SAW a white person go to a highcime area.

  • I live in a high crime area, Western Suburbs, Sydney.

    Nuff said

  • thats because your black.

  • hey vasdel

if all you see is white people in this commercial then that makes you racist or dumb. too bad you dont even know the true definition of racism otherwise you wouldnt make a dumb comment like that

btw - i was watching BET and they didnt have any asians or europeans - damn racisit channnel.. ( i hope from my sarcasm you will realize your stupid dumb comment, here's a suggestion READ A BOOK!! )

  • vasdel there was such a push to show integrate images in commercials and movies in the 70's. Then when the 80's hit it was like a white out. I'm not just referrng to the lack of black people in this video, but also asian, hispanic, etc

  • i think in america most mc donald commercials are geared towards blacks

  • @vasdel Australia didn't have that much of an ethnic population in 1980 and we didn't trade slaves, so yeah....

  • @jezeats - you mean we had stopped trading slaves by then.

  • love that girl gonna maker her mine.

    thru... burgers...

  • LOL

  • Love a burglar. :d

  • love a buggah lol

  • they had chicken there?

  • Comment removed

  • @:41

  • I wondered the same thing. I don't remember McDs having chicken wings on the menu and Chicken McNuggets didn't come around until 1982. Of course, in Australia, they could have had a different menu than here in the States.

  • More like love a fur burger with all these sleazy lookin cats

  • is where they got this from the movie "CAN'T HARDLY WAIT." ?

  • This is bunny.he's saving youtube from Bob

    (\(\

    ( - -)

    (")(")

post him anywhere you see Bob

POST him anywhere bob might appear

  • starting to like this song haha .

  • o.o

    ... I'm scared.

  • nice................

  • ...... creepy lol this reminds me of when i was a baby in my cott listening to the tv in my mums ams.....

  • Somehow, I really want to fuck a burger now, Now, NOw, NOW!

  • This song is addicting...and I like it!

  • hahahahahaha i saw this in class how the media is making us think that this is how we would act if we ate this crap hahahahaha wen i saw it i cacked my self laffing

  • The singers sound American, and they say fries!

  • pretty funny

  • The theater is playing "All That Jazz" released in 1979, but this "love a burger" ad campaign only aired in Australia and only in 1981. I wonder when it was actually filmed.

  • If it's any help, "All That Jazz" was not released in Australia until July 17, 1980. The mystery, though, is why it all looks so summer-like there when July is dead of winter for Australia. I can only guess this was filmed around November-December 1980, while "...Jazz" was still playing and the leaves were coming back.

  • Ah, the fun, happy, carefree childhood I never had LOL. Look at the size of their McDonald bags as they're leaving the restaurant, they must be hungry.

  • Lol back then I imagine they actually gave you real beef.. so im sure the burgers were normal size..

  • Catchy song!

  • its annoying

  • i guess it would hard to make an ad like that in 2009, every ones fat because they "love a burger from mcDonalds"

  • Even I want a burger.. And I'm a vegetarian... Good commercial

  • Comment removed

  • They should put this ad back on!

  • 0:07 lookout, it's Marky Mark Wahlberg.

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHA, if they put somthing like this on TV nowadays... i would buy McDs everyday XD

  • I wonder why they have them coming out of an underground Mcdonalds at the end. You don't actually see a McDonalds from the inside or outside.

That's a bit strange, as are those people at 00:26 who deliberately fall of the chair backwards belting their heads and backs into the ground

  • Its Olivia Newton John singing in a McDs commercial for McDs in Australia.

  • No one is morbidly obese in this advert...Where are the actual people who LOVE A BURGER? Are they not apropriate for an advert?

  • In the 80's in Australia Obesity wasn't a huge thing, hardly anyone ate takeout. I used to live in Homebush NSW back in the early 80's and the nearest McDonalds was in the middle of Sydney city. The closest thing to take out near us was the local fish and chip shop.

  • My goodness - was everything really this tragic-looking in 1981? I remember McDonald's Southern Fried Chicken - back when KFC was Kentucky Fried Chicken and they sold big fat crinkle-cut chips!

  • ahhh i whant mc donalds i havent eated in 10 months

  • It's scary to know that McDonald's commercials used to be LESS cheesy...wow.

  • LOL the aussie accents shine through XP

  • i swear to god i just saw olivia newton john at 0:36

  • And Ricky Schroder at 0:42.

  • cool like this one make me want too go

  • it sounds like the B-52's.

  • hahahha

  • NOW NOW NOW NOW!!

  • That is so freakishly perky. I can't even imagine how you could make a parody of this. I mean, they done it so well themselves!!

  • It kind of sounds like they're singing "Love a Booger" at some points.

  • it says 1981 but i think the music is from the 70s era. kinda disco...

  • You do realize people dont just CHANGE overnight on 12/31 1979, it takes two or 3 years to develop into the "80's" as we remember it, just like 90, 91 92 ad's kinda have an 80's tone.

  • Also, disco was going strong in 1981.

  • @troy2000me As a kid who grew up in the 90's, I didn't mind the 80's overtones at all

  • yes , and disco lasted until the early 1980's.

  • Aussie McDonald's once served fried chicken?

  • Commericials were really long back then and corny. Love a burger???? Thats kinda weird.

  • That was friggin' cool.

  • Now imagine that on grece that would be werid or high school musical

  • juicy chicken and hot PIE!!

  • so 70s!

  • same as 'buy buy buy buy buy buy buy buy' xD

  • I WANNA FUCK A BURGER NOW!

  • LOL !!!!!!!!!

  • Were there any other ads with the "Maccas Kids"?

  • Was that Australia's version of Ricky Schroder jamming out at the record store?

  • I can see it now... "Love a Burger". Now performing at the Sydney Opera House.

  • HOF

  • juicy CHICKEN?

  • LOVIN IT ?

  • Mcdonald's Shock video?

  • Geees the good old days when telephone boxes where the place to ring someone when you were out and about. How times have changed...

  • I remember this scene from 'The Matrix'.

  • so sad

  • i remember those undergorund fast food resturants. we still have those at melbounre!

  • i never knew they had chicken but i wasnt born then, 1 year too late damn it.

  • See the real size of the Big Mac. They have shrucken it so much to nearly the size of the fillet o fish. Old McDonalds was alot better. They have way too much on the menu these days.

  • WTF juicy chicken leg.... OH dear god nooooooooooooooo!

  • Its kind of racist because it has only white people

  • I always walk like the guy in 0:31...

  • Yeah I remember when McDonalds served chicken.

And I remember that George St underground Maccas.

I think the world would be a better place if they took everyone in this ad out and shot them.

  • Im gonna be sick

  • Where have the chicken pieces gone??? Iv never tried them before!!! Were they nice?

  • I err.. Didnt think it was possible but i hate McDonalds MORE for seeing this ad :\.

Burger-King ftw.. Tastefull adverts and FILLING burgers.. In NZ at least.

  • wow! 80's in America must had been a torture

  • Gods I remember that underground Mcdonalds, at the end, in the Sydney cinema district.

  • I remember it well too. I used to work their and the Plaza across the road in 1989.

  • I fancy a McDonalds now.

  • Now I want an apple pie...lol

  • sick, napolean dynanmite cameo at 00:39

  • loveabugga

  • is it just me or does it sound like they are saying "bugger" instead of "burger"?!

  • Its either the accent or we Australians have trouble singing lol

  • these days no-one beleives maccas had fried chicken,i remember it well, especially the small carboard boxes it used to come in,like a little house

  • I remember the day it was phased out. The bloke in front of me in the line was incredulous when told you could never get Southern Fried Chicken again. "You mean never EVER?" he said. That's right drongo, that's what she said!

  • The Colonel must have forced Mickey D's chicken business out the window. It must've been when they phased in the Chicken McNuggets.

  • Even I don't remember that, but as a kid I always hated fried chicken.

  • Tell ya something funny that I saw at MacDonald´s. This guy was washing under the garbage cans, scrubbing the floor with his ass up in the air, and on his back it was written "I´m loving it"

  • Something funny I saw in a Macca's in Canberra about ten years back - a uni student wearing a 'Socialist Alliance' t-shirt tucking into a Big Mac.

  • If you look closely at the last few seconds of the ad you'll see The Empire Strikes Back is playing at the old Hoyts.

  • The George St Cinema's in Sydney!

  • DISGRACE!!!

  • At :23, the girl in pink messed up.

  • lmao, how do people notice this shit haha

  • Why this ad is in 1981 and not in 1979 confuses me. This ad makes me ashamed to be Australian, well not really. But this ad is...retarded.

  • McDonalds in general makes me ashamed to be a human being.

  • Yeah, something like that.

On behalf of everyone here i will say it now: THIS AD IS THE MOST RETARDED AD MCDONALDS EVER MADE!

    :)

  • back then people were gullble for those crappy comercials now today is different

  • i didn't know McDonalds sold chicken drumsticks

  • mcdonalds sold deep fried chicken in Australia in the 1970s and early 80s. They dropped it from the menu about the same time they brought in the McFeast and chicken nuggets, a year or 2 after this ad was screened.

  • Strange indeed why is there no black guy/woman who's eating a burger or drinking a milkshake ....

  • Be
