Utterly insane to do such a thing- People have no shame and these are supposed to be serious opera singers forced to so this which makes them all look like fools- where is the dignity and respect for Maestro Verdi? Gone in a Markk brothers farce.

But the point of most opera ballets - and this one in particular - is to be remote, stylized and unrealistic. It was meant to be a nice break in the middle of a long opera where you could relax looking at pretty girls floating around. This interpretation doesn't tell us anything we didn't know about the plot and just tells us how very clever the director thinks he is. It's pointless.

now it is also a nice break. audiance has enjoid it much as i was in the performence and i think it is great idea to play this funny ballet in the serious opera. and i think we see eboli as a human beeng. not only as a "bad mezzo"

Dumb director? i mean, 15 minutes of a ballet, completely transformed into a drama wich is convincible, and make the singers act like they never do in other productions. I find that Konwitschny has a valuable vision.
