I'll be honest, people try to shoot straight up/into the sun when I lock onto them. MG makes quick work of these people. Careful with it, don't fly too straight or they'll kill you.
It took me about 3 weeks to get flairs and around 90+ deaths but when i was taking off there was an enemy infront of me and i got a roadkill my reaction was priceless and now i have rocket pods within 2 days of unlocking flairs.

keep the speed at about 260 or 280 if your epxirenced ONLY use afterburners if your being locked on or if you ened to chase somone and ONLY use flares when you hear the BEEEEEEEEEEP-BIP-BIP that means the missile was fired once you fire the flares CHANGE your path the missile continues going staright!

I am like level 20 in the prestige's now: there is now problem with this video, however, I would recommend watching speed the most, because if you see in first person view on the left hand corner there is a box with numbers. That is you speed and to take the sharpest of turns keep in the "280 to 300" range otherwise if you keep afterburners on people can do the same and kill you just as easy

@jonS1017 to turn as fast as possible, when u see the jet on ur radar (needed: air radar) if you see them widen out on the turn, u need to hit afterburners just at the right time so he is too wide out to catch you, then u throtte down so ur plane can turn faster, ull be if front of him, but he wont know that, then, try to see which way he is turning, and once you find out where he is and ur behind him... then u put it in the oven, and you win :p, hope that helped
@15243ism I'm a pretty good dog fighter in Conquest. Yesterday I went 25-1 :O But when I play rush on occasion, I like to bomb tanks, etc with the guided missiles. That's when the other jet think's it's conquest and he's flying a fighter, not a bomber. >.< bums. But next time someone won't leave me alone, I'll try that method. Thanks.
If any of you are trying to unlock points for jets stay the hell away from the A-10 Thunderbolt. It's currently bugged so killing it or killing any one in it does not count towards jet points. I've unlocked everything so I will still fly it for kicks but don't if you're there to grind points.
If you guys are looking for a more advanced tutorial on how to avoid rockets without flares check me out, i also going over getting the crucial 400 points in the jet to atleast unlock flares.
6- If a heli is tracking you, fly straight up. The heli can't keep you in their view that high and if they try to do so, they will most likely crash because of tilting their helicopter so much.
7- if you can't break away from a jet tailing you, try doing risky maneuvers like going between towers in Operation firestorm or fly really fast as low as you can. This will cause the jet tailing you to either crash or break of their pursuit.
4- if you want to turn sharper(say when your trying to tail a jet) slow down then use the afterburners to speed up again in the turn, do it repeatedly every second. If you do it correctly, you can stay in control while you stay behind the other jet.
5- Use air radar. This will show all enemy units and will help you spot jets who are tailing you before taking you down or keep track of jets you are tailing making sure you don't lose them in a turn.

@iTzzBurnleyX Dont count on your missles, stick with your machine gun, the heatseakers arent good at all against a good jet fighter. Just keep working on getting kills with the machine gun, remember bullets drop in BF3 so you will have to lead them, shoot where they will be and not where they are unless they are flying straight. Also burst fire your machinegun it will make you more accurate.
Man, your success in this gameplay was only depending on that your enemies didn't have even their flares unlocked or used. Total: Newbie or pussies -,-
@MrZainTHEDJ You have Rush or Conquest gametypes. The jet can be spawned into just like you can spawn on teammates or your deployment. If the jet isn't available that means either someone is already in it or it has been destroyed and is waiting to respawn, which is 45 sec
@MrZainTHEDJ to get into a jet, there are two ways the easiest and fastest way is to stay in the main menue when you die. The jet will show up there, just note if a teammate is flying the jet another one wont spawn in. Rush gets 1 jet and conquest 2 jets. The other way to get into a jet is to hang out in the runway waiting for a jet. But i wouldnt recomend this seeing as spawning in the jet is a lot faster.
@MrZainTHEDJ The best place for jets in my opinion is Caspian Border. When you do want to get in the jet, you need to be very quick to select it, this is because other people will try to get the jet.
@MrZainTHEDJ first of all you need to find a game mode where there are jets available, and thats rush and CQ, in rush every team has one jet whereas in CQ every team has two. Also the maps, the maps that have jets available(that i know of) are caspian border, kharg island and operation firestorm
@TheNextDoorGamer I think Stealth is the best, when combined with Flares is VERY hard to shoot you down with missiles. Air Radar is good but you should be maintaining awareness of where the enemy jets are at all times, and you can spot ground vehicles to destroy on your own
@TheNextDoorGamer no air radar is your best option, you will be able to see tanks/jets and enemy equipment with the air radar. You will always know if you have a jet on your ass
God damn it I can't unlock flares cuase keep getting shot by heat seekers and the only way to avoid them is by using flares!!!!!It's driving me crazy!!!!
Jets are crap. They're uselesd against ground units (well, they don't have any serious impact). I just fly out over a flag zone and hop out mid-flight and parachute down :)
@irishdude1988 You're nuts if you believe that. My favorite maps are Caspian Border and Kharg Island playing rush. The Attacking team will have 3-4 tanks IFVs goin towards the objective at any one time. I just do passes with the machine gun and take em out. Usually two people per vehicle. Rack up the points. I'm working on my third Jet Service star.
@AMaoR14 it is but it takes practice and patience, also a good way to destroy tanks or enemy vehicles is to fly away from the battle, and climb to about 600-700 feet in the air. Once you reached that height turn back into the battle and hold the left trigger down. This will slow your decent, start trying to mark any vehicles (you wont be able to see them unless they are marked). Once you located something to shoot at go to town, remember bullets fall in BF3 so aim alittle high.
I just don't understand how there's always a jet on my tail. I try evasive maneuvers, use my flares for incoming rockets, etc. They are just always on my ass. Especially when I do things like this guy said to do and fly straight up or towards out of bounds to come back in for another pass. I don't get jets in this game.
@crackparty when facing a good jet flyer the only thing you can do is to go into a sharp turn, to do this press the left trigger wait two seconds the press the right trigger and repeat. You will go into a very tight turn and there is no way for the enemy jet to kill you. The only problem is, it will get very boring when your doing that all game
@crackparty Yeah, you have to do a shit load of sharp turning. Don't stay in one turn for too long either though. Keep turning. I'd say do it more upwards than downwards.

my jets got proximity scan ir flares and heat seekers and all my unlocks for jet is those 3 and stealth so i'm asking should i hav on stealth wich takes the enemy longer to lock on or the scan that makes me see all the air vechicals (sorry for grammer problems im from a different country)
Pro Tip: Do not use Heat Seakers, cause if you do you relly are in no use for your team. Use Rocket Pods instead and kill tanks with them. THen you are really making a difference.
You missed one major tip that you should've given out to people who are just starting to fly the jet. The tip is that you go into a new game of rush on Khagi island and you start as a defender. When the game starts wait in your jet for about five seconds then take off and go just about straight up but don't stall. then turn toward the enemy carrier and start to apply the breaks while smashing the select button. Then slowly line your turret up on one of the hopeless amtracks and hold the triger.
to be honest the worst thing u said was go into the sun it will blind them THAT WAS A EPIC FAILL BUDDY i got shot down locked on with heat seakers shot down with miniguns
Im always fucked when i get in a jet because only when i use a jet the people on the other team who are good at jets start using them and i have no unlocks for the jets :( fml

@iTzzBurnleyX if u wanna get more points in the beginning, worry about enemy air support later... for the best amount of points in the beginning, go far and up away from the map then turn around and point at the map and cram the spot enemy button (i think you should know that), once you find a tank, get to medium range, hit the throttle down button, aim, and unload as much ammo, as accuartley as you can... if you try to go for jets without the proper tools, ull just get shot down
@iTzzBurnleyX try going into an empty server to practice basic maneuvers. When in game fly high and spot (if you fly high enough, about 600 or 700m high, enemy stingers can't get you). I find it easier to take out heli. You want to have enough distance, line up the enemy chopper while slowing down. Then just fire your cannons and you should take out the heli, and even if you just disable it thats 100 points.
To those who play the ps3 version, i have a question. When slowing down, do you just tap the L2 button, or hold it down until it is at cruising speed? And when using afterburners, will it put you in max speed, regardless of how slow you were flying before using it? For some reason i have a hard time seeing how fast/slow i'm going.
@MadMax260582 hold down the l2 button to go at crusing speed, just know it will stall your plane if you hold it down to long. To know how fast you are going go into first person mode you will see two bars with numbers on them. The one on the right tells you your height and the one on the left tells you your speed (i think thats right) most jets make out at 400 or so nots.

If you can't master turning you will not be able to achieve proper angles of attack against an enemy bogey, you will be out-turned, and out-gunned.

Another good tactic is to hit your air brakes when turning it makes your turn radius tighter and you can then hit afterburner afterwards to gain more speed
Some updated tips: If you want a kill with heatseekers.. Manage to hit just a little with your machine gun THEN fire your rockets, cause normally the jet hit by the rockets will still hve 9% health left. And also DON'T do big loops.. You will show much more surface that your enemy can hit on you with machine gun. A good technique is to break while turning, for a faster turn, when your speed gets low, turn on your after burner and repeat for sharp constant sharp turns.. =)
Lol, u can actually get a jail sway from ur tail. There is many methods such as slowing dramticly down, example by going close to ground so ur wheels fold out, or spin around and try to either outrun them or cunfuse them.
i also prefer cannons as primary weapon, with rocket pods as secondary so i have air to ground capability. but i also think this gives a massive advantage in air to air combat also as your opponent does not know your behind him until you engage, this can buy you the time to line up the perfect shot with the cannon and make it possible for them to escape. also, play as a scout when flying as they have a spot advantage, mashing the spot button is awesome for spotting and taking out tanks with pods
have to say something about your recommendation of flying directly upwards when locked.... this or ANY other movement that results in you flying in a straight line will result in certain death against any other pilot worth his salt. if you goal is to evade surface to air then if anything dive to the ground, but always moving and changing your angles. first golden rule of jet combat never fly straight.

You have to get into the AA gun sometimes fellas. Shoot them down or at least make them afraid to fly towards your deployment.
Also, the really good pilots won't be using AA missiles, they'll be using the rockets or the AGMs.

@TheNextDoorGamer I think Stealth is the best, when combined with Flares is VERY hard to shoot you down with missiles. Air Radar is good but you should be maintaining awareness of where the enemy jets are at all times, and you can spot ground vehicles to destroy on your own

Jets are crap. They're uselesd against ground units (well, they don't have any serious impact). I just fly out over a flag zone and hop out mid-flight and parachute down :)

@irishdude1988 You're nuts if you believe that. My favorite maps are Caspian Border and Kharg Island playing rush. The Attacking team will have 3-4 tanks IFVs goin towards the objective at any one time. I just do passes with the machine gun and take em out. Usually two people per vehicle. Rack up the points. I'm working on my third Jet Service star.

@AMaoR14 it is but it takes practice and patience, also a good way to destroy tanks or enemy vehicles is to fly away from the battle, and climb to about 600-700 feet in the air. Once you reached that height turn back into the battle and hold the left trigger down. This will slow your decent, start trying to mark any vehicles (you wont be able to see them unless they are marked). Once you located something to shoot at go to town, remember bullets fall in BF3 so aim alittle high.

I just don't understand how there's always a jet on my tail. I try evasive maneuvers, use my flares for incoming rockets, etc. They are just always on my ass. Especially when I do things like this guy said to do and fly straight up or towards out of bounds to come back in for another pass. I don't get jets in this game.

@crackparty when facing a good jet flyer the only thing you can do is to go into a sharp turn, to do this press the left trigger wait two seconds the press the right trigger and repeat. You will go into a very tight turn and there is no way for the enemy jet to kill you. The only problem is, it will get very boring when your doing that all game

Pro Tip: Do not use Heat Seakers, cause if you do you relly are in no use for your team. Use Rocket Pods instead and kill tanks with them. THen you are really making a difference.

You missed one major tip that you should've given out to people who are just starting to fly the jet. The tip is that you go into a new game of rush on Khagi island and you start as a defender. When the game starts wait in your jet for about five seconds then take off and go just about straight up but don't stall. then turn toward the enemy carrier and start to apply the breaks while smashing the select button. Then slowly line your turret up on one of the hopeless amtracks and hold the triger.

@iTzzBurnleyX if u wanna get more points in the beginning, worry about enemy air support later... for the best amount of points in the beginning, go far and up away from the map then turn around and point at the map and cram the spot enemy button (i think you should know that), once you find a tank, get to medium range, hit the throttle down button, aim, and unload as much ammo, as accuartley as you can... if you try to go for jets without the proper tools, ull just get shot down

@iTzzBurnleyX try going into an empty server to practice basic maneuvers. When in game fly high and spot (if you fly high enough, about 600 or 700m high, enemy stingers can't get you). I find it easier to take out heli. You want to have enough distance, line up the enemy chopper while slowing down. Then just fire your cannons and you should take out the heli, and even if you just disable it thats 100 points.

To those who play the ps3 version, i have a question. When slowing down, do you just tap the L2 button, or hold it down until it is at cruising speed? And when using afterburners, will it put you in max speed, regardless of how slow you were flying before using it? For some reason i have a hard time seeing how fast/slow i'm going.

@MadMax260582 hold down the l2 button to go at crusing speed, just know it will stall your plane if you hold it down to long. To know how fast you are going go into first person mode you will see two bars with numbers on them. The one on the right tells you your height and the one on the left tells you your speed (i think thats right) most jets make out at 400 or so nots.

If you can't master turning you will not be able to achieve proper angles of attack against an enemy bogey, you will be out-turned, and out-gunned.

Another good tactic is to hit your air brakes when turning it makes your turn radius tighter and you can then hit afterburner afterwards to gain more speed

Some updated tips: If you want a kill with heatseekers.. Manage to hit just a little with your machine gun THEN fire your rockets, cause normally the jet hit by the rockets will still hve 9% health left. And also DON'T do big loops.. You will show much more surface that your enemy can hit on you with machine gun. A good technique is to break while turning, for a faster turn, when your speed gets low, turn on your after burner and repeat for sharp constant sharp turns.. =)

Lol, u can actually get a jail sway from ur tail. There is many methods such as slowing dramticly down, example by going close to ground so ur wheels fold out, or spin around and try to either outrun them or cunfuse them.

i also prefer cannons as primary weapon, with rocket pods as secondary so i have air to ground capability. but i also think this gives a massive advantage in air to air combat also as your opponent does not know your behind him until you engage, this can buy you the time to line up the perfect shot with the cannon and make it possible for them to escape. also, play as a scout when flying as they have a spot advantage, mashing the spot button is awesome for spotting and taking out tanks with pods

have to say something about your recommendation of flying directly upwards when locked.... this or ANY other movement that results in you flying in a straight line will result in certain death against any other pilot worth his salt. if you goal is to evade surface to air then if anything dive to the ground, but always moving and changing your angles. first golden rule of jet combat never fly straight.
