God, though, wants better for us; He wants us to have intimacy, something far greater than sex because it's not limited to sex. I generally like these shows, but last week the show on "imputation" was really wretched. This teaching totally contradicts pretty much the whole Bible, claiming that we don't need to be doers of the word, not hearers only. The Word says we will be "decieving ourselves". This means we will think we are saved but we actually ARE NOT! Jesus said "Why do you call me 'Lord, Lord', but do not DO the things that I say." Obeying Jesus is "living by faith", being "faithful until death", "abide in me"..

Todd Friel is a brilliant mind. Anyone who doesn't like or understand him, doesn't want to because they are too caught up in fulfilling their lusts and cares nothing about God or their own souls or their children's souls, plain and simple. I wish it wasn't so, but everybody don't care about anything past the lusts of this life. To understand the Scriptures, you have to put yourself to the side and get on with True Spirituality. The Scriptures were written by God via His Spirit working through various people who were open enough to accept the Truth of God in their lives. God doesn't waste His time in those who won't allow His Spirit to work in them, even to draw them close to Him, although He wants everyone of His creation to draw close to Himself.

I think both. There is only so much that can be witnessed to a passing stranger who doesn't know Jesus. They don't know your life. I believe you should witness in both word and deed. And they are both incredibly important. You can be a good person all day, but if they don't know where it comes from, they may credit you or something/someone other than God.

Jesus response was to go over the 10 commandments. Look at the major and minor prophets in the O.T. The preached the law, sin, wrath, and judgment. How about the Apostle Paul. See Romans 2 where Paul goes over the law. Paul said, "you who preach a man should not steal, do you steal?" It is completely biblical.

God, though, wants better for us; He wants us to have intimacy, something far greater than sex because it's not limited to sex. I generally like these shows, but last week the show on "imputation" was really wretched. This teaching totally contradicts pretty much the whole Bible, claiming that we don't need to be doers of the word, not hearers only. The Word says we will be "decieving ourselves". This means we will think we are saved but we actually ARE NOT! Jesus said "Why do you call me 'Lord, Lord', but do not DO the things that I say." Obeying Jesus is "living by faith", being "faithful until death", "abide in me"..

The Scriptures were written by God via His Spirit working through various people who were open enough to accept the Truth of God in their lives. God doesn't waste His time in those who won't allow His Spirit to work in them, even to draw them close to Him, although He wants everyone of His creation to draw close to Himself.

By saying "contemporary Christianity" I was trying to refer to Todd and his ilk, and the way they come off. I'm fully aware they derive this from the bible and that christianity has been odious from the start. Nice try though, and points for effort.

I agree. They are basically saying that we are not responsible for our wrong doings as long as we believe in jesus christ. WHAT???? Can you please show me where in my comment I said I wasn't "wretched"? Of course I am, we all are. But the approach this man takes on teaching the word of god is wrong. I first saw him on tv talking about Clay Aiken coming out of the closet. He was completely judgemental saying that all gay people kill themselves, and are going to hell. Men and woman of god are suppose to have hearts full of love, and kindness. What makes his hands so clean that he feels he can judge everyone else?

Wrong? We must speak the truth in love. Jesus did exactly as Todd Friel is doing. Look at Luke 18:18-23. The man asked how he could inherit eternal life. Jesus response was to go over the 10 commandments. Look at the major and minor prophets in the O.T. The preached the law, sin, wrath, and judgment. How about the Apostle Paul. See Romans 2 where Paul goes over the law. Paul said, "you who preach a man should not steal, do you steal?" It is completely biblical.

I'm curious, when did he say specifically that all LGBT persons kill themselves? What is your source for saying that ministers of the gospel should not talk about hell? Because if I'm not mistaken, Jesus spoke about hell (Matthew 10:28, to name just one verse).
