I really feel bad for Rob and Fab. To young guys that were taken advantage of and were in way to deep to do anything about it. I was and still am a huge fan, RIP Rob!
It was a marketing strategy that Frank used, getting two most gorgeous models, actors and dancers for the pubblic scene, it seems it worked had it not been for that skipping of the song on the stage, these guys would have gone ahead with act . It wasn't bad coz' their image brought this powerful impact on everyone and truly speaking, a lot of us will never get used to the real Milli Vanilli though they deserve all our respect. We were too used to see Fab & Rob (R.I.P)
I love what Rob said at the end, just thre i can see how much he wanted to say thanks to the real singers of villi vanilli, they were a great image of villi vanilli, they were great in every way.... I love Rob
@kanemaximus hahaha!!! No kidding.... true that is how things role in this world... still, those who were part of Villi Vanilli all made it together and i think that it wasn't bad. After all everyone loved it...
after watching this video it makes me SAd.Milli Vanilli was a victim of some selfish ways from those who feel envy to their success . 1990 was a huge scandal .and it caused Rob lives taken away and lead to his Death R.I.P...
What about Technotronic? The model in that video is lip-syncing someone elses lyrics. And C+C Music Factory uses Zelma Davis to lip sync for Martha Wash! WTH? And Milli Vanilli gets creamed! That's the Industry - a cesspool of floating shits that will stain your soul folks (they're anything but sharks).
lol. Joke's on you, America! Didn't anyone question the fact that they both had such strong accents? Their speaking voices were nothing like their "singing" voices. There's a clip on here of one of them actually singing it live (Fab I think) & his accent is clearly heard when he's singing.
@foxxyloxx their are a lot of singers and rappers that have strong accents and when they rap or sing they go away like cheryl cole and a few other people
@mjbaybgurl - the group that actually sang was called the Real Milli Vanilli. They weren't as visually appealing. Never made it to the status Rob and Fab did. Frankly people were so mad that anyone who bought a CD could and was entitled a refund. I loved watching them on MTV back in the day. They still performed physically just not vocally. It would be like finding out Justin Timberlake's voice was actually Ushers. Something to that extent...lol
@mjbaybgurl On this song, the real singers are Charles Shaw, Brad Howell, Linda Rocco, and Jodie Rocco. Charles does the rapping that Fab (guy in blue) lipsynchs to, Brad sings for Rob (guy in red), and Linda and Jodie are the two white girls who did all the female vocals.
Fab's story has never changed since that fall and plus the guys never lied or tried to cover up what happened when they were revealed as fakes. They took the blame for signing the contract when money was thrown at them. That's all the slap on the wrist they needed. But, they way they were treated was not right. I mean, it drove Rob to kill himself where as Fab chose to better himself and he is doing that right now. He deserves a second chance and he has remained humble through it all.
You would be surprized at the amount of people and I mean top performers dead and alive who could not actually sing a whole song live. The industry calls it being "Produced" . Yea, I think its more like auto-tune, other performers enhancing their voices in collaboration , etc etc etc. Not too many out here have that golden voice . its all about what sells and looks sell first. They just got caught up because they were young.
It's strange. We all wanted to believe they were real. People still want to believe it. But it symbolizes what Hollywood is all about today. It's about the good looks and the perfect bodies that are being marketed. It's about selling the fantasy to the public. I don't blame these guys...they actually seem like decent guys that wanted a piece of the fame and money that Hollywood throws in our faces. Think about the one's that marketed them knowing it was a lie...they are just human. RIP.
Wow.... Great compilation! I'm left feeling very sad, however. If the general public had had more understanding and had been less judgmental, Number One: Rob Pilatus would still be with us; and Number Two: Milli Vanilli (along with the true, original vocalists) would ALL be enjoying a resurgence in nostalgic popularity, and EVERYONE would be winners! I just find it so damned sad that it all ended the way it did. This could've been a story with a happy ending had "we" not been so unreasonable.
One of America's best "conspiracies" right next to JFK, the Vietnam war,911 and Saddam's weapons of mass destruction. Man you are right, you do anything you want in America...land of the dummies
They Didnt deserve those awards because they are phonies, every Award they ever won should go to the real milli vanilli which consist of three older black men and a pair of twin sisters they actually recorded the vocals not these two fags
So many other Artist did not sing by them self but nobody cares, only on Milli Vanilli
thy started the witch hunt, it was quit unfair but this is so typical for Jealousy, so
what is really left? Who speaks today about the Original Singers? Answer: Nobody! Milli Vanilli will stay forever in our Memory as Rob and Fab. Automatically when I hear the Songs I see the faces of this two fantastic guys and they were great dancers and formers.
@MrEurodancer , indeed there are cases where nobody cares and never made a big drama out of it, like the "Blackbox" model prentending to sing "ride on time".
The difference with Milli Vanilli was that most of these other groups were not that successful to the point of the celebrity Rob & Fab had at the time. Rob & Fab became major celebrities in the U.S. when Milli Vanilli hit and the fact they managed to win a Grammy, which is the most prestigious music award in the world, made what they did a problem for the industry and it embarrassed them. Had they just been popular in clubs like the others, the lip-synching would have been more inconsequential
I was just 5 or 6 years old in 1990 and even I knew that when I saw people performing and happier than they've ever been they were necessary to the entertainment industry. There are so many lip-syncing fucks in the music industry now that it's not even fucking funny. At least they were honest about it and didn't blame on their band.
What is sad is the fact that they looked so happy with all those awards. Who cares if they lip synched, they ware having a good time and the fans too, so no one was harmed.
@HiroshiYamauchi ...PERFECTLY said! This is what I was saying back in 1989! I KNEW they weren't singing, but I did NOT care! It was just great music, and great visualisation! What more do we need as consumers of disposable pop music? I can see if it was "serious" music they were lip-synching to, but... it was just innocent, innocuous, feel-good POP MUSIC! What was the big deal??? Very sad outcome, considering Rob's death. Imagine being hated by the whole world for NO GOOD REASON!! Very sad.
@HiroshiYamauchi No one was harmed but the public was duped and plenty of people were robbed of their honors. it's like an Olympian who uses drugs to win the gold. No one is harmed and I'm sure they're happy when they win the gold but the effort is still a lie and those who would've won it honestly were cheated out of their moment in the spotlight.
So it's sad for that reason too. And to think , Clive Davis was pimping them out. He probably knew the entire time they were fakes.
@HiroshiYamauchi Winning the American Music Awards and the People's Choice Award wasn't so bad because those were based on how much the records sold. Once they won a Grammy, the situation got more serious because it's a very prestigious honor and with that comes a lot of attention and curiosity from the elites of the music world. It became a question of how did we give an award to performers who fraudulently were credited as the singers, which they were when the duo was promoted in America.
@HiroshiYamauchi The reality is, what these guys go shamed for in the 90s is now a standard thing in music. Almost everybody lip syncs or pre sings songs and then it's replayed over the live audience.
@Skyrailer What ever will those poor poor acts like Gloria Estefan, Bon Jovi, and Baby Face do without some shitty award? Soul II Soul obviously needed that save because without it they crumbled. Really, that is what dooms someone, not winning a cheap trinket from what is essentially an affiliate of your record own record company.
@HiroshiYamauchi I completely agree. And the people who were actually singing the songs, didn't seem to mind. I LOVED them growing up. Miss that time man.
correct but were not the actual singers the real singers lacked a marketable image. the record company then recruited Robert Pilatus and Fabrice Morvan, two younger model/dancers he found dancing in a Munich dance club, to front the act/etc.
