@TheBaconlover456 yes the small jingle bells are not bird safe thanks for the tip to fellow bird toy makers. the glue used on toilet paper rolls and paper towel rolls are toxic to birds. Remember the larger the bird the larger the the bell. The birdy baggles are much safer and it takes them a long time to get threw it. but you do have to use a drill to make a hole in them.
@nowimabird my husband passed away of a massive heart attack on October 17 2009. I had to move in with my mom and she had no room for my birds in the house. I still miss them singing and the most I miss the babies.
I have birds and i just simply poke holes threw the toilet paper roll and tick popcicle sticks threw and i puncture hole in the ends of the popcicle stick to put a small braid threw. Iused strings and knots off of other bird toys i bought that she almost destroyed. I never thought of making on liek that, but ill try it in a fewminutes :)
for degus I would use ether leather rope or cotton rope not the polly. I use to have Degus and they will chew the string I would also use natural wooden beads too a degu will chew everything.

You don't use toiilet paper rolls to make toys out of. The glue they use on them is toxic to your bird!

I'm afraid that the glue they use in toilet and paper towel rolls might be toxic.

no its not I have been using these for about a year and have had no deaths or sickness
denisesfeathers 3 years ago
yup, the degus will try to destroy the string...and they will :)
As for beads, I thought about the same thing.
You have an interesting hobby :)
Take a look at my channel, I love pets as well.
