the lyrics is so amazing and powerful a pure joy for my mind.... " I looked in the mirrow but something was wrong, I saw you behind but my reflection was gone" .... thats just WOW! and all of their songs are like that, too good for this earth
ok, so let's stop arguing about who's the best between M&S and WL... they are BOTH f*cking GREAT BANDS and while WL is the original thing M&S is doing a PRETTY GOOD rendition of this song... period
@PBL187 Great performance.Cant imagine not pulling a stupid face singin that high.Im sure my face would be like a tomatoe covered in veins if i attempted it!!!!
The lyrics are great and all, but the singer sounds like he has down syndrome. mumford and sons cover of this song is unbelievably good, so i guess i can thank white lies for giving a much better band an opportunity to make a below average song something undeniably great.
@UnitedMorganism Mumford don't give the passion and emotion needed in the main chorus. Unfair to say he sounds like he has downs... his voice is perfect for this song, Needs passion and he has it.
@Frenchkids. Intimate gigs? I watched them play the Manchester Academy a couple of years ago, if that isnt an intimate venue then what is? mainstream or not mainstream, it cannot detract from a fantastic sound. Reminds me of Ian Curtis too.
Esta rola como me llega O.O y el sentimiento que le pone ouu... verlos en vivo cantar esa casi lloro aw!! son geniales y Harry muy guapo con una voz hermosisisisisisisisima <3
@aleTLSP I'm not attacking the band, but I think that the whole thing is commercially conceived. It's this huge arena rock sound; it's about playing to as many people in the biggest stadium as possible. Don't get me wrong, there's not anything necessarily wrong with that, but you'd have to say that it's commercial, if it's anything.
@meakins8 Who says they're unique? You don't automatically lose your 'raw' talent just because you start playing big shows. Have Arcade fire lost there talent? Of course not. This band is already fully realised. The record label have invested a lot of money in them. The marketing drive for the release of their album was huge. They are a mainstream band; I'm not sure anyone can argue against that.
@frenchkids They really aren't a mainstream band, firstly they don't appeal to everyone, only a certain group of people in society, secondly they aren't a regular indie band, they're post-punk, something that is not abundant today, thirdly they're not even wellknown, they're highly underrated, most of my friends don't even know them
@meakins8 and also they actually sound better when they do arenas and smaller gigs. Have u seen them try to play at Glastonbury, was still good but they lost a lot of theire raw sound. ALso, Arcade Fire have flopped now, they're nu album they tried to experiment n stuff n it was a fail.

@meakins8 Haha. Not appealing to everyone doesn't mean you're an indy or 'post-punk band.' And by the way, the post -punk movement was by bands on independent labels, thus making them...indy bands. They are signed by a massive label and won a Q award. I think that says it all to be honest. They may have independent sensibilities, but the massive corporate marketing drive by their label suggests that they are seen as a pop band with a potential to sell out the 02 arena and shift 2M worldwide.
@frenchkids They might be signed to a big label but it still doesn't mean their mainstream. Arctic Monkeys are mainstream. Also, they sound better when they do arenas and smaller gigs. Have u seen them try to play at Glastonbury, it was still good but they lost a lot of their raw sound. Also, Arcade Fire have flopped now, they're nu album they tried to experiment n stuff n it was a fail.

@meakins8 Doesn't make a difference how good they were at Glastonbury. They don't play small gigs. They'll never play intimate gigs; their sound is driven towards being the biggest it can be. Arcade Fire's third record is fantastic. You didn't think so, and that's fine. You don't want a band that you like to be considered mainstream, but it's true. I'll leave you with this last thought. Their album went in at number 1 in the UK chart beating LADY GAGA in 2009. Doesn't sound very 'indie' to me.
@frenchkids lol u got me dere, im just sayin, a lot of ppl i know dont even no WL, it seems they produce music very different to what we hear today, thats what i like about them, I just dont want them to change their style too much.

They killed this performance. One of the best songs = one of the best performances. Music is the purest form of entertainment, cant fake the emotions Harry McVeigh conveys.
to be honest the majority of british guitar bands owe a massive amount of debt to Joy Division , they are one of the most influential bands of all time easily. Some bands just wear the influence that bit more such as white lies.
It seems to me that these guys grew up listening to a very different genre and tried to invent something their own. I don't think they understand the comparisons because it wasn't what they were striving for at all.
