There are so many idiots on here it's not even funny. The Opossum is fine. Yes, he was probably scared because he was in a box, but they are excellent climbers so the height is not an issue. Whoever said that they don't bite, they do. And they bite hard. Back on to the treatment of the animal. He looked very well taken care of. He had a nice coat, clear eyes, and looked extremely well fed compared to a wild Opossum. They, like skunks, actually make really good pets and tend to fare well as pets.

The ignorance displayed on this page is stunning. For you opossum haters-they do not bite, nor carry rabies and are the only native marsupials in North America. Look it up if you don't know what it means. They are generally shy and have an very short life for mammals-about 2 years and have learned to adapt to being around humans as their habitat shrinks.

And, for those who think this is cruel, I disagree-no harm done occurs here. In fact, when opossums are frightened they hiss and/or play dead.

Opee did not make it to far before a car got him. He left his mark on the road next to the Folk School about 1/2 mile away. Such is the opossum's live!
