the documentary on joe strummer on the sundance channel was so good. hard to find good shows like that on tv.

i lost a lot of respect for the clash when i became aware of all their politics.it should have been about music and fun which is not a dime a dozen like politics.

when this was out it was music for white boys who were neither jocks nor druggies. i don't know if drug abuse caused joe strummer to have a heart attack he does not look like the druggie type in this video.

Rock music doesn't get much better than this- though some Clash purists might find this one overly sentimental compared to their more political stuff. I had the pleasure of seeing them twice in one week on their Australian tour, early 1982. No one ever wore a meaner bass than Paul :)

@GNRlast the beauty, and the power of the Clash is that they originally were a great punk band... politics, and dejection at full volume, but as they moved forward- they began to absorb different styles, and experiment with various "styles/sounds" dub, rockabilly, and most obviously pop. THIS song... the one that "broke" the Clash in Amerika is a "one-off"... not a bad song, but hardly a shinning example of what they were about/ stood for. 30+ years ago... and still the only band that matters.

Also a Ramone song is played at every sporting event, party and even made it to a super bowl commercial.
