The purpose of a spoiler on a rwd car is to create down pressure on the tires creating more traction. They don't make it more aerodynamic; they actually create more drag in the process of creating down force on the rear wheels.

the spoiler on the back is for rear downforce, it holds the rear of the car down at high speeds cause of the air pressing down on it creating grip for the back tires, when the car gets turned around the roof flaps will open up to try to keep the car from lifting, but when ur at talladega, theres just too much speed and you have to take what you get
