I'm not really a dedicated Enya fan, but I've listened to her songs quite a few times, and this tune got stuck in my mind some hours ago. I got the strangest ideas to use it for some of my own lyrics, since it fits well, and so I spent the last few hours trying to figure out which song exactly it was =) Anyway, I found it, and ended up here... This is a wonderful version indeed! For me it's better than the original, since I'm too bad at hearing to appreciate singing in English.

This is a good version, but alot of the ethereal, heavenly qualities are gone. That's why Enya is so great. Those layers and layers of vocals, those keyboards.

But don't get me wrong. This was good.

@NewAgeJess Yeah, it's not as ethereal, but they kind of make me think of two sides of one world, you know? Enya's original version makes me think of a half of the world that's underwater (merpeople, mostly lol) and this part makes me think of the surface (particularly an old dock or something like that with sailors and traders, etc). :)

@DaisyExodus Yeah personally I find this cover similar to that of a dance than a Song but I'm a cellist so lilting tempos and rhythms feel dance like to me. :)

@MisterMoelle Well that's too bad. It's just string instruments. Many string arrangment of songs have a melancholy timbre due to the fact the sound being produced is much more raw than the vocal voice that can easily be adjusted with the shaping of the mouth and quality of breathing correctly while singing. With a string instument it depends on the type of strings, the quality of them, as well as the bow and the build model the instrument is made from. Some of which are more or less concrete.
