  • uh oh Prince. better get your goons to get this off youtube

  • has anyone figured out the chords to this? thanks!

  • They're all still around, and you're still safe and sound.

  • Jesus, I can't stop listening. I'm now cursed as well.

Congrats, John Mayer. You do that to people.

  • Haha I didn't believe the comments on here that this was addictive, but I found it yesterday and have listened to it probably twenty times already. I'm not even a Prince fan, but this cover was great!

  • I have been to five concerts. I was dissapointed with this one. It was my gf's favorite. Guess I can't be too quick to judge haha.

  • one genius to another.

  • Prince rocks

  • what a talented douchebag.

  • I like Mike Zito's version better...

  • That Gibson L5 really is a beautiful guitar

  • it is so retarded how John Mayer can cover any song period! he made this song sound so different but so much the same. its crazy when you hear someone with so much talent play another talented artist's material. it makes you realize how amazing the composition truly is. the lyrics here are just crazy good and its such a simple arrangement that john and prince both make sound incredible. i could seriously listen to this all day and never get tired of it. thanks for the great music!

  • Kinda sad to read so many comments asking about where this song came from, and people comparing John Mayer to Prince. Simply, there's no comparison. Prince is one of the all time greats, and has produced more internationally-renowned hits than John Mayer has had hot dinners. Therefore, there's no comparison. They are both artists in their own rights, and you should leave it at that. If you're going to compare, John will always lose to Prince.

  • @AdamShanklyUK Why is it a contest? He's paying tribute.. The fact that you know who John Mayer is and are watching his videos are exactly the reason why your point is mute.. He's a music fan..He'd be the first person to give it up to Prince

  • he makes guitar look so easy

  • This obviously does not come close to PRINCE playing an acoustic version of this song (as he usually does in concert). That was one of the best musical moments I have ever experienced...

  • someone needs to tell him that his voice isn't THAT good

  • To wendel88: John Mayer writes songs that people can relate to.

  • i fucking love prince...but nice job johnny boy

  • 0:26 - 0:31 "aw uh..." "its a prince song!" with disgust. haha! priceless.

  • god dam I want that guitar

  • @mabie551 god dam I want to be that guitar :)

  • I love Prince and I love John Mayer!! Best thing!! :D

  • i bet many of the girls dont have any clue who wrote this song and how great that artist is..mayer is a small fish next to Prince.

  • @wendel88 totally true!!

  • @altejunior you know is it just me who really realise how much better prince is with this video ?? -" little red corvette" is just 100000000 TIMES better than "stop this train"..it shows that mayer is not a big big fish and I doubt he ever will be in the elite of songwriting..JM is a master of creating catchy tunes and guitar pieces but as a songwriter he is just too simple and well..not amazing..falling over the words..not a james taylor or a Prince but got as much fame as those withteens today

  • @jwgosz We will never forget about John Mayer unless he wants us to because there is so much talent in that guy that he can keep writing and playing music for as long as he wants, first of all he is the Guitar God of my generation, Second he is the best singer/songwriter of my time and what I mean by that is he writes and plays his own music, what Im saying is he's the next Clapton/Stevie ray Vaughan, And John Mayer is different from James taylor because he has had way more hits, look it up.

  • @musicdude195

That's actually pretty comical. Prince's songs sound like they were recorded in the 80's because they were. However if you see him in concert today you will see he is one of the most talented musicians and performers in pop, ever. John Mayer is very talented, but tell me how he's any different from someone like James Taylor. Prince changed the industry and is still doing it today. We'll have forgotten about Mayer in a few years.

  • @jwgosz Ya right..because everyone forgot about James Taylor in a few years...right? Nope. John Mayer was paying tribute to Prince not challenging him.Relax. You must be as short as Prince is.

  • @HarleyStcool You do realize the "zoom" is focused on the projector screen, right? What a douche.

  • awesome, i didn't known that song before i heard john playing it... better than the original for me...

  • good cover John,your a true talent.

  • to hell with this cover is sucks ass anyways, we should give the real credit to the guy whos filming this, damn good camera zooming and stays on him

  • @HarleyStcool

Why, because it is nothing like the original? He has put is own spin on it, all credit to him.

  • no one can do it like this.....

  • @vspot2505 prince does better..

  • New Found Respect 4 John.........He is Talented thats 4 sure.......

  • i want to download this whole performance sooo badly but i can't :(

  • @hersheykissie12 Get the Album!!! 22 songs <3

  • Mike Zito's version is sweet too.

  • i think prince would approve

  • whenever i here this i cant help but sing along

  • Cool to see him play it one time with an electric guitar. Honestly the acoustic version is better.

  • This is good. Thanks.

  • @zach122085 yeah, theyre stretched chords. the bmin is a bmin9

  • I was at this show I drove down with my gf from sacramento, it was awesome!!!! great post

  • @babyruth95746 Sacramento...my home. This was a cool cover, I admire his admiration for the Purple 1. I Don't come across a lot of Prince fans, but the ones I do come across are BIG Prince fans.

  • @SkipThistv Add me to that list ;) haha

  • @Joshpy27 Added!

  • Intro chords used for Little Red Corvette sound kinda like Assassin.

  • That's because he uses that same type of 3 fret spanned chord on assassin too.

  • Genuine. He did Prince well :)

  • I'm not a big fan of Prince, but this song I do like.. especially in this particular way. Nice cover.

  • No where near as good as the original. He went too pop and forgot the sexuality and funkiness that made the original such a great song.

  • @joedrake20 I don't mid it. Prince also did an acoustic version of this on the musicology tour.

  • Tö...ké...le...tes!

  • this may sound stupid but is that song at the begginning a cover, a new song or simply impro? (i guess it's not an impro cuz the crowd's singing along)

  • It is a cover of a Prince song, "Little Red Corvette"

  • i didn't know it. thanks bro =D

  • n he did a great cover of it to

  • its a cover of prince dude

  • After saw this, I just wanna say "John I love you"

    Musical Genious!

    thanks for posting this.

    cheers

  • @pedronuno91 Says the grammar genius :D
