I live in canada and so if i buy the magic jack and someone from europe is calling me is that person charged more because they are calling an us number in canada and i saw that they are now charging 10 bucks a year for a canadian number, do you think that is a good deal
Always conning Canadians. Is it because we're known for being so nice? Being nice doesn't equate with stupidity...if you'd like to use a Canadian number, you will have to pay $10/year to maintain such number on top of the registration/service fees. This concept was quietly "introduced" without notifying customers at some point in time during 2011. Not impressed with highway robbery!
@blackpea05 The cost is $30 a year for the services and Canadian number. Hardly highway robbery compared to other services. I can't say anything about the quality yet but the price is right.
I purchase my MJ, about 3 years ago from their website. At first, I choose a US phone number then I decide to go for a canadian number from Montreal. It cost me, for my renewal, 29,95$ including the montreal number. American pay 19,95$, I pay 10$ more for my canadian number. I like it since I use the number to made call transfer to my cell, so everyone as my MJ number, instead of my cell, so when I'm not on the cell, I transfer wherever i'm I.
@daisy26000 Yes, they will have to pay long distance if you have an American number. If you are from Canada you now have the option to get a Canadian number.
I just got one and it's great. When setting up I got to pick a Canadian number for $10. They only seem to have major cities to choose from though for these numbers.
The magic jack website now says free canadian phone number, did it say that when you got yours, wondering if it has changed recently or if the free is a trick, ??
@SubjectMatterExperts The 'free' is a trick, I bought a Magic Jack yesterday from Best Buy for 57.00 tax included and I had to purchase a Canadian Number for my province which is Ontario. I live in Brampton and I picked a 905 number, not realizing that some 905's are long distance like the 581 prefix...Doooh!!! I got a Hamilton number in Brampton. Magic Jack needs to provide a prefix list that way people can get a number within the GTA for the area they are in.

@blackpea05 Your joking right? $10 a year is nothing, you shouldn't complain.
