@svampebob007 So your saying you would pay for something that is inexpensive that does not have ad's how about a service for $10 that allows you to download commercial AAA games completely legally with no middle man no ad's and no DRM. You can download the soundtrack for absolutely nothing to.
@monsterabyss1992 Because your basically going to be called a coward and a "Fake Criminal" is what we call pirater's here in England. Because they break the law with no risk what happened to the good old day's where you do a snatch and run. At least you appreciate the trouble you went to get it and you won't be throwing it away in 10 seconds.
@monsterabyss1992 eerm because of Steam. More game dev's are going to Steam and soon enough everything will run on Steam and piracy will be completely obliterated. Just try and find a pirate copy of Starcraft II that allows you to play online you won't because there aren't any and there never will be.
You're kidding? There are plenty of pirated copies of SC2 that have network capability. They just can't connect to battlenet.
Steam is actually a convenient, open catalog of games whose worth can be judged at a glance. Anything worthwhile gets purchased, everything else pirated.
@Mathenaut You can not pirate Steam games I've seen the results on Illegal copies of Counter Strike. What's the point of playing the single player game when the gold of the game lies in the multiplayer.
@h0lyh4ck3r You can pirate steam games. A lot of games have non-steam versions which work just fine. Counter-strikes multiplayer is based off individuals running servers which steam has no real control over and there are plenty that work without steam.Cheating is much more prevalent on these servers but that's not the point. It works.
Honestly you should do a little research before spouting off inaccuracies.
If I'm not mistaken even w.o.w has private servers going to play bootleg copies.
@hinro If you can find me an illegal working copy of Halo 2 for PC with multiplayer and single player access i'll give you a sub and will take everything I said and love piracy for the free stuff.
@h0lyh4ck3r Oddly enough it is easier to find halo 1 private servers than it is for halo 2. But no worries it seems that I have found exactly what you wanted. I really don't like halo at all so I can't be bothered to download it to test. I'll pm it to you so YOU can test it. either it works or not I honestly don't care and apparently very few people do seem to care about halo 2
To be fair, that 1600% markup figure is misleading. You have to take into account the cost of equipment, equipment maintenance, human resources, marketing, general business expenses and all the other costs that are involved. I'd like to see how much of that actual 1600% turns out to be actual profit.
I suspect that it is still very exploitative, but it would be interesting to see the actual numbers.
BITTORRENT FTW FUCK THE COMPANIES GREEDY BASTARDS DONT WANT CULTURAL DEVELOPMENT AND WANT TO LIMIT CREATIVITY BUY FILLING THEIR OWN POCKETS. IM GOING TO SEED AND SPREAD BITORRENT TO EVERYONE. START THE CULTURAL REVOLUTION AND BRING HUMANITY INTO AN ERA OF FREEDOM, EQUALITY, AND CREATIVITY.
@IWantSoundKnowledge BUT YOU CAN'T BRING HUMANITY IN AN ERA OF FREEDOM, EQUALITY AND CREATIVITY AS LONG AS PEOPLE NEED TO EAT. World Of Goo was created by one man and he hardly got anything for his hard work you know why Piracy he only got $600 for a game he spent $800 trying to make. Okay take from the big bastards who do not care but at least give some thought and consideration for Indie Developers.
The hell are you getting this crap from. World of Goo was a very successful game, despite the piracy involved. Even better, the developer still speaks out against DRM, as a number of pirates bought the game - and to boot, it launched against a title with DRM and the results were similar.
They said the video cassette recorder was gonna be the death of the movie industry. It was like the Boston Strangler. They embraced the technology by making and selling VHS takes tapes.
@mondayfool Other than we already FUCKING pay for cable and television. They expect us to watch their fucking commercials and THEY are the one who receive them money.
We're not paying for television,we're paying for the transportation of our television. Just so they can transmit what everyone already gets. We can't even avoid these stupid commercials, they are just like spam.
i pirate because i can watch WHATEVER i want WHENEVER i want. i'm not paying 32.9$ for 25% ads if i pay a don't want ads!
