  • My left ear is lonely :[

  • It's actually called Me Musical Nephews.

  • theres no audio

  • No. The old one is much better.

  • so funny XD that was a favorite episode XD

  • @nickellicker most of theses fleschier studios cartoons (later Famous Studios, and later Paramount Cartoons Studios) were bought by Associatied Artists Productions (along with early Warner Bros. looney tunes/Merrie melodies cartoons) which was sold to Metro Goldwyn Mayer in the later years is currently part of the Pre-1986 MGM/UA Library (including the Popeye cartoons) and is distributed by Warner Bros Entertainment under the ownership of Turner Entertainment Co.

  • @The BookWorm 1718 and Marbles471 You are both very correct. The quality of Paramount cartoons after Max and Dave Fleischer left the studio quickly diminished. Look at the later entries in the Superman series, which was the Fleischers' pride and joy, and you can see the difference. A surprising amount of Popeye cartoons throughout the '50s were just remakes and compilations of Paramount's animated glory years, so give me the Fleischers any day. They were ground-breaking...

  • No no no, no, I've listened to their midnight jamboree from the original Me Musical Nephews for MANY years so I knew every note, and this just doesn't compare to it at all.

  • should of slept in there room duh lol

  • one of favorites! lol

  • Amazing. Comparing this to the cartoon it's a remake of (from 7 years earlier) is like a summary of what happened to Paramount Cartoons in a nutshell. It's almost scene-by-scene replica, but in this one the timing is much more mushy. Gags that got a laugh in the old one feel flat here because they're slowed down and mushified, or weakened by redundant dialogue. And this is only 1950---- Paramount's timing only weaker from here.

I really don't get it. It's like they forgot how to be funny.

  • @Marbles471: much agreed. Comedy seems to be held hostage to the law of diminishing returns... have a look at modern animated films and see how they mistake pop culture references, sarcasm, and scatology for humor. Writers back in the 30s and 40s read books and watched plays, films, and vaudeville shows. Since that time they've been heavily into recycling (not in the good sense) and watching television for inspiration. Quality... R.I.P.

  • @jigen08 Agreed, take a look at some of the movies from that era, see how many of them were either based on novels or plays. You still see some of that today but not as much and they're not up to par where quality is concerned, like you said.

  • Believe it or not this show actually made me want to eat Spinach when I was little

  • I'm telling Popeye!

  • "And all the nice people who came to see our pictures". Woah 4th wall broke
