  • Whens the new update comin out

  • @hornbyandbf3fan not sure as its been very cold in the shed.so i have not done much work although i have been scratchbuilding some houses and other buildings in doors.i may do a short video at the end of the month.

  • @bloodmarine77 The colds also meant I havn't done any work on my layout and it's effecting my engines aswell

  • amazing video love the layout im just planning to start a modern image layout and your layouts given me some fantastic ideas cheers!!

  • @pompeyupompeyme thanks, and your welcome.

  • Your videos are great for inspiration, better than just seeing trains go round!

  • @bazkath thankyou very much.im glad that my layout inspires others such as yourself.

  • Sorry predictive text - I was eying to find out what you used to rust your rails

  • @maddotcom hi mate.i dont use a redish rust colour as it looks to harsh.instead i use sleeper grime to take away the shine of the rails.then i use oily black over the sleepers.i do this with an airbrush and this will give you the most realistic affect.

  • Rusting Rails - could you tell me whatmyoumused tourist your rails I want to do this but don't want to wreck my track work

  • Nice update not sure I can put a dirty paint brush near my 37 just yet but who knows.

I will have to do a roll call of all my loco's later this year

  • another one of your great videos, whens the next one?

  • Hi there, wondering where you are buying your industrial units from, I'm after some for lorrys and vans ect

  • @mradamjh hi mate, all my buildings are either hornby bachmann or metcalfe.you can find it all at ehattons.

  • would you do a overview of your fleet?

  • @Pearson4472 i may do one day.i posted a video in december showing most of my locos.

  • Hi mate, thanks for the advice the other day about peco express points. I got 4 today, only problem is the tracks seem to hit each other as you slot them together? Even with peco track. Do i need to adjust the sleepers or cut them, or are they just not as simple and slot together as hornby points. Hope you can help, and thanks in advance. Jason

  • Another great update by you again bud, all the bits n bobbs add that extra effect into your layout. I deffo wouldnt worry about the 33 & 37 as the weathering is mint spot on, so keep up the stunning work & roll on summer for the entention build hehehe. cheers Ken

  • fantastic railway!

  • @music1radio thankyou!

  • looking good the 33s look like new models nice touch enjoyable update i suppose u could build a police station or a truckers cafe with a truck bay like they have on the motorway it appears i didnt finish my last msg hehe keep up the good work cheers.

  • @steveallen808909 lol, yes i thought i was greek trying to read your last message.thanks for the comments and i will bear your ideas in mind.

  • looking good yuo e xaropi

  • Nice job on the weathering , i also use a art spray gun & a mini compressor , i just do the lower body , exhaust, & running gear etc on locos & wagons. Some locos i have i am scared to do as they run into hundreds of £ so i keep those clean in case i sell on. Are you adding an extra part on your shed as you said you are adding an extension. Thanks jim..

  • @hovermotion hi jim, i know what you mean about being worried of ruining the expensive locos as i left my class 33 as i didnt want to ruin that but i thought what the hell.it stood out abit being to clean.and yes im adding an extension so its going from 12ft to roughly 25ft +.should be ready to lay track by the end of summer.

  • The layouts coming on great! I like the idea of extending the town area. The weathering on the 37s also looks realy good, nice work!

  • @heinz551 cheers mate.a bigger town area is a better idea i think.

  • Some nice 37,s and you must enjoy weathering them as they look really good, lighting lamps a nice touch in the street but that signal 2 reds then 2 greens ,seems weird, what make were they.Dapol network rail looked brill another hattons share holder i see, lol, cheers Tony.

  • @sheba31 cheers tony.yes i love the locos once they are weathered.i dont get much from hattons to be honest, only a few items from time to time but you cannot get those jna's from anywhere else.

and i too also thought the signals are strange as that is the only way they wire up.i got it from layouts4u.

  • Very nice mate, the towns coming along well. Ive got 2 of those weathered JNAs, plus 2 pristine ones, and they are the business. Although those wheels are going to make the track very dirty indeed. I like the weathering you have done on your 37, it looks great. Im very impressed with my Vi Trains DBS 37, will you be getting one? :)

  • @ApacheBravo hi mate.

yes the dapol jna's are awsome and im glad i got them.i will be getting 4 more at the end of the month so i have a full rake of them.

and im pleased with the weathering on the 37 although not finished yet as i have to add the white streaks down the side.

not sure about the db 37 as its vi-trains and i prefer bachmann.

  • @bloodmarine77 How many JNAs have you got at the moment? I bet they will look good behind an EWS 66. I know what you mean about Bachmann being better but other than the fact you have to fit the detail yourself I cant fault it. I dont enjoy fitting the detail but you might. Not sure what to have the 37 pulling, any ideas? :)

  • When you move the bus depot over how are you going to reach over to model it? Can you get up from the back. After over a year of sorting my base board and getting the entire loft ready im almost at the stage where i can start my model railway. Your videos give me inspiration and you should be well proud of it.

  • @jasonandjoesrailway cheers mate, yes im proud of some of it atleast.

and yes i will have to reach over to model that side of the town.

looking forwards to seeing how your layout progresses, will you be posting videos as you go along?

  • @bloodmarine77 I think i will, rather than just the usual panning from left to right type video i think i will produce a series of videos based on how as a begginer i find out how to do things along with the mistakes i make. Trouble is if you do anything or say anything slightly wrong on a video you get slated in the comments, even before people read the info. What do you think?

  • @jasonandjoesrailway sounds good.but i wouldn't worry about saying the wrong things mate as i say plenty wrong but no one says anything as they dont know me personally and i like to think im helping others out there in this hobby.

i mean everything i have learnt has come from others such as those on youtube.

plus if we get to see your progress develop we can help guide you along to make it that much better.

  • @bloodmarine77 Hi mate, ive messaged you a few times and i told you about my layout i was starting, ive just uploaded a vid if you would like to have a look?

  • Would Love to see you do some how-to videos mate, top layout Love it!

  • @Derbys65 i would do some how to videos but no one has asked me what to do a video on.

  • I have never seen a class 33, but I agree it does look like a very nice engine. the weathering looks fantastic.

  • @HillsideModelRailway no i have not seen one either sam.and im sure i will never see one as dirty as my one.

  • Hi. Nice update. I like the weathered 37s and nice to see you had the nerve to do your new 33, it looks great. Can I ask where did you get your white road markings from? There are a few items I want to weather some time soon. Top layout!

  • @apywell hi mate.

thanks for your kind words.yeah i had to pluck up the courage to do the class 33 as its my favorite loco but it turned out ok.have you done any weathering to your locos yet?

the road markings are from cast in stone (ten commandments).

  • @bloodmarine77

I did some weathering to wagons and some locos a couple of years ago. Plenty more to go at when I get my mind in gear. I've had a look at the Ten Commandments website and they are at Stafford in Feb so I'll see them there for some markings. cheers for the info.

  • I love the weathering on your network southeast class 33, is that another Bachmann loco, or is it Heljan?

  • @ThatGuyThatModels cheers mate.its a heljan model.

  • Your weathering techniques are really good , front of 37 excellent , there's always "grime and reason" 33 has come up well , sorry you have to relay certain area's , great update no suggestions this time !!

  • @REGWARNE12 thanks for your comment.

  • hi mte, what 03 did you get,got a blue one for xmas instead of socks, result

  • @1968concorde lol you got a good bargain then.i got the br blue weathered class 03.i have always wanted one but i have not run it yet.

  • @bloodmarine77 they are nice and smooth runners i've got the clean blue one, also got a railroad deltic not bad very smooth, but against my bachmann fleet basic but still nice and a nice thought from my step daughter.

  • Where did you get the speed limit signs? Are the road marking painted? and what road lights have you used?

  • @nordenstation i got the speed limits of a mate and the road markings are stickers from ten commandments.most of my lights are from kytes lights.

  • looking mint mate love the old 37 and the new cement works look forward to new vid see where you go with it keep up the top work.

  • @uzyadadi cheers mate.yes the old 37's with the split head codes are my fav 37's.

  • I know what you mean about the problem of trains stopping under the layout i have had a lot of problems like that my self.I have had to modify alot of my layout so i can reach under the boards.I think the 33 looks mint well done.

  • @kered43 oh im glad its not just me that has issues with loosing locos in the tunnels.but im having to modify my layout so i too can reach those points.

  • @kered43 I know what you mean. This tip is a complete and utter bind, but, I solved this by cabling each and every piece of track with jumpers from each piece to each piece effectively doing away with the fishplate - they're just not reliable to conduct current all the time. Also I made a track cleaner with a piece of hardboard, rough side down, suspended below a coach floor. This is an age old tip from Torquay MRC before commercial 'cleaners' were invented, and it works.Good Luck. Rob

  • @waldenhouse hi rob.

joining jumpers from one piece of track to the next is the best thing to to and have been thinking about doing it as i am having problems with less current around different parts of the layout.like you say fishpltes are very unreliable, especially one you weather the track like i have.

looks as tho im going to have to get the solder out again.

  • Very nice im getting 37427 - to be renumbered to a scottish 37 (havent decided yet) as im moddeling an exact replica of Eastfield TMD in the 80s as my Exebition layout - i love your choice of wagons - i also got some JNA wagons exept i bought mine second hand 14 each i wouldnt get rid of that small scene if i were you - just replace track cause thats the best part of your layout - where did you get your backscene from - its brilliant! anyway i think ill do an update on my model railway soon!!

  • @MrJezza31 hi mr jezza,

the 37427 is a great loco and you should get it.and the jna's are cool too, i just need to get some more.

    the backscene is from gaugemaster.

  • @bloodmarine77 thanks, look out for my layout update soon :P

  • That class 33 looks great keep it like that

  • @Beatboxer1346 you think so.i took me a while to do.

  • That is a superb sample of the 37 the 427...think the 33 is weathered enough as you say ...but nice looking loco .... you have been busy on your layout...looking good

  • @howarth004 yeah the 427 is fantastic looking and runs very weel as you would expect from bachmann.

  • Great video looking forward to your next update. Why do the trains keep crashing on the points?

  • @jacobporrett cheers mate.i have a load of curved points fitted together just under the station and the one in the middle has a bent rail so i have to take the whole lot apart to get to it.

  • looking very good mate. i like the grime on the 33

  • @andyfriarsjunc thanks.im glad i have had positive feed back on the 33.

  • Hi like your locos wow your layout good layout and the town love it good job keep the videos comeing

  • @SuperWin87 thankyou

  • looking good Terry. I'm hoping to finally get started on proper construction this month, so may PM you with a couple of questions

  • @yimkhoc thats fine mate.im happy to help you in any way i can.

  • Oh no! Got to rip up all that scenery to fix the track, what a pain in the backside! Hope it all goes to plan for you.

Weathering is nice, makes my bolster wagons look far too clean. I think I'll grime them up after I have finished repainting my mates N gauge 37s.

    Keep up the good work.

  • @EverardJunction yeah i have an issue with the curved points under the station,so i have to take it all apart.i have been wanting to change it anyway so this will give me the kickstart.

im like you tho, i hate pristine out of the box look and everything has to have a coat of grime to represent realism.

how are you getting on with your layout?

  • @bloodmarine77 Are those curved points Hornby by any chance? I had no end of trouble with them on my old layout.

My layout is getting there, been ballasting the last few days. Also I’ve been weathering some of my stock. Pristine models don’t look right to me either. A layer of subtle weathering really makes it look like the real thing. I usually find a picture of the exact loco to see what condition is was in.

  • @EverardJunction i would love to do a bit of weathering ,just havn't got the bottle, but it adds to the realism, you layout and terrys bares this out mate

  • @EverardJunction the point that im having issues with is from hornby.the others are peco.i will never buy hornby track again.

i tend to get a picture up on the internet of the model im weathering just to try and replicate it as much as possible.

anyway looking forwards to your next update.

  • ive been after a split headcode 37 for ages terry,i must admit your weathering skills are superb mate especially the br blue tractor, and i think the cement works looks the dogs, pitty you cant get the train going through the hopper, makes it look like there earning there keep,my next big change is to build a power station like the one that was at tinsley, but im trying to work out how to make the massive chimneys,by the way where did you get your backscenes it reminds me of port sunlight cheshire.

  • @488scooby hi mate.

the 37 was hard to come by and is an older bachmann loco but is still brand new in the box.but it only comes with an 8 pin decoder and no lights so i have got myself a light kit for it.the backscene is from gaugemaster.

a power station sounds like a good plan so good luck with that as you may need to build that from scratch to get the desired affect as there is nothing on the market that will fit the profile.

  • Hi great video. Were do u get your signs from?

  • @houndog1372 the signs are downloaded via google and printed.

  • you could get some fire engines and do like a depot or sommin just thinking of ideas as you have pritty much coverd everything i can think of your layout is a amazing

  • @toffie702 cheers.yes i am thinking of adding a fire station.

  • As Always The Layout Looks Bril and Always Getting Better :).

  • @TrainMadJames cheers.
