I predict that after ten years MR. Vogt will be number one Wagner tenor. He has started early, but is not a lack of tenors? He has beauty in his voice and will grow better and stronger every year. Kári Friðriksson tenor "Wannaby" I put on youtube four "audition arias" I sang 20 of may.Di quella pira,Donna non vidi mai,Morgenlich leuchtend and Che gelida manina. Three high C ´s and a long Wagner aria on 16 minutes. I am rehearsing for audition in The Icelandic Opera. Some say MY voice is to white
@martello79: you must be on drugs, smoking pot, or have your head up your ass. KFV has one of the most beautiful voices in this rep and is very suited to it. You probably listen to Justin Bieber.
He was wonderful as Paul in Die Tote Stadt last week in Madrid but I agree that the Kaiser is a totally unsuitable role for him. Erik in the Dutchman should be his limit.
Are we all the victims of a gigantic hoax? Is there somewhere in NYC or Berlin or London a big boardroom, where all the most powerful recording company, PR, artist management, etc. moguls gather once a year to count the money that they make on this man, smoke a few joints, drink a little booz and then just laugh themselves sick over how stupid the public is to accept this as "singing" ?!
Eine Stimme hat er schon. Materiell gesehen. Ich hab es mit meinen eigenen Ohren in Bayreuth gehört. Das Problem ist, dass er mit dieser Stimme nichts anfangen kann. Ich kenne keinen uninteressanteren und automatischeren Sänger als KFV.
Shocking miscasting here. This is a role for a big tenor with heft and exciting high notes. KFV's light, colourless and unexciting voice unbalances the drama. Would be nice to hear him sing something appropriate though the financial attraction of singing Heldentenor roles must be compelling. Certainly didn't match the other singers in this performance.
You're absolutely right... His voice is completely inadequate for the Emperor, as well as for the rest of heavy dramatic roles he insists to sing... I heard him a year ago or so singing Mahler's "Das Lied von der Erde", and he was simply defficient. A pity.
totally agree too, it just doesn't hit me, but still i haven't heard many versions of this opera, i absolutely love it, but wish i could find one that is the sphinx's tits, so to speak
I seldomly heard such a lack of upper tones on a tenor voice in this repertoire. The tones are there, but he completely lacks expression to me. In my opinion KFV was the only weak chain in this superb cast with Evelyn Herlitzius and Doris Soffel....
@bigstrongboy1 Of course the women are the business. And I wouldn't have missed these ones! The funny thing with KFV is that he does have the volume to project over large orchestral passages. This must be the reason he is asked for this Fach. A sort of blown up Tamino voice....

...ein Armutszeugnis fuer deutsche Tenoere, dass so jemand in Bayreuth singt. Weder musikalisch noch stimmlich auf der Hoehe. Grausam.

The women are the business. The contrast with KFV is shocking and depressing at same time. There are tenors out there for this repertoire.
