Great review! I just bought my Spartan a week ago, and i love it. Badass blade, a bit big for EDC, but i still carry it out with me. I dont know the law here on blade size, but then again its eastern Kentucky, a cop here would drool over this blade and ask where he can get one, lol.

Hey Tex i hope you don't mind me asking but You did like the Recon 1 with the ultra lock that they took from Benchmade, but why do you not like any Benchmades? Is it the better type of steel because i know AUS8 is good for the kind of work you do or is it because Cold steel is stronger or what?

Nice knife but i wish it were bigger that's why i ended up purchasing the Cold Steel Rajah 2 it just looked and felt more Spartan like!

Excellent review of an awesome knife.. the spartan feels like your holding a handgun and you have to press the lockback all the way down to close it kinda of a pain but it's badd ass!!

cool knife!! i was thinkin along the lines of gettin it, but it looks a little small, and I have big hands, so I just MAY go way of the Cold Steel Espada XL

@Cowboy3590 tbe xl espada is way to big for anyone lol, this knife is very large and will fit in anyones hand believe it or not, the xl espada has a 9 inch handle to it and costs like 8 times more.

@ohnevergoingtoquit haha that is true ^^ that thing is a POCKET SWORD i would go with the Espada Meduim it still looks VERRY COOL but is smaller and more easily to conceal ^^

@RoyalAlba1 yes sir. reason is, is that seems like most of the folder knives have too small of a handle for my hand and the fixed blades are more of somethin for out camping or hunting and you cand fold them down to smaller. and when measuring the tip of my thumb to the outer edge of my palm, it is 7 1/2 inches which i find too big for the other folders on the market lol

The Spartan has grown on me over time. I don't own one but the Tri-Ad lock is SOLID (on my Black Rhino) and I like how they've switched the handle to Grivory on the new Voyager line-up. Also, Tex, you really should pick up an AK. I carry one most of the time for edc and it's never let me down.

@soldierboy425 I have watched other reviews of the knife and the only area the ak is better is when clipped in your pocket it has a bigger area to grip onto to pull it out.

i have a large skirmish, very difficult to open and close one handed just like this knife. i think i'd rather have a voyager, i need a degree of utility along with the tactical.

The only reason I carry a knife is so that I may protect my familiy and person. Not as a gardening tool. Throat slashings and heart stabbing.

Looks like a good TACT knife and its a damn good review (as usual) but for a carying knife im love my MODEL 9050 AFO AUTO from Benchmade.

FYI, The "deployment stud" is a rip off of the Emerson Wave design. I will never own a Cold Steel because of that. You should get an Emerson and you will see the difference in quality and function.
