It is beyond incompetent to pull over an ambulance that is rushing a person to the hospital. If the EMT driver did something wrong while driving, why not follow him to the hospital and handle it after the patient is delivered? Surely there must be some protocol for what to do in this instance.

He then stopped the ambulance and tried to arrest the driver for obstruction of justice, when in fact he was only doing his job by driving to the hospital. Since when does an ambulance pull over for another emergency vehicle?
This is another example of "one bad apple". This Trooper should be in jail, not merely reprimanded or temporarily suspended. His supervisor should also be in jail for not terminating his employment. Someone we trusted to enforce the law clearly broke the law and this video makes it an open and shut case. This Trooper is a blemish to every responsible Trooper in the USA. Everyone should have a dash camera in their vehicle that's always on, because we never know when the unexpected will happen.

This poor Paramedic spends his whole life helping people and dealing with life and death issues and is in blood and guts sometimes. Some respect please for us in this type of work. If you were an EMT and you knew that you were in an emergency situation, would it be safe to say that you wouldn't, in a desperation attempt for the person that needs medical help, try in every way to rush the person to the hospital.

Well lady, I am a medic/cop who's been doing this 20 years now. I would never stop a medic unit nor would I expect to be stopped. The issue was with the cop and the EMT not the cop and the Medic until the Medic decided he was in charge. Realistically in California, a cop or highway patrol officer can commandeer a private ambulance anytime. It's highly unlikely to happen. This was a situation that should never occurred. Personally, I wouldn't have stopped if I was the driver.
A smart officer would follow the EMT's to the hospital, and then when the patient is in the hands of the doctors and nurses, he'd conduct an inquiry. These 2 assholes do not need anger management, they need a job at a carwash. This poor Paramedic spends his whole life helping people and dealing with life and death issues and is in blood and guts sometimes. Some respect please for us in this type of work. It takes a very long time to become a Paramedic.....this cop was dead wrong and to pull over another emergency unit! Would never happen most of the time in this country! This cop has problems as we all do and I don't want to see him fired but he needs to work out his anger proplems.

It ought to be federal law that the police have to accomidate and escort those with real "emergencies". Obviously, people with real emergencies probably drive just like a rude ass driver would. They should be pulling over traffic violaters and asking them "what is the emergency?". Then when they find out there is none to THEN unleash a beat down.

Trooper says that EMT didn't yeld and that as he was pulling the Amb. over the EMT gave him the finger. EMT says that he was throwing his hands up in exasperation. EMT in the back gets out the Amb. If you were an EMT and you knew that you were in an emergency situation, would it be safe to say that you wouldn't, in a desperation attempt for the person that needs medical help, try in every way to rush the person to the hospital.
I think that it was a natural reaction for him to jump out to see what was the hold up. Not to say that he should have gotten out. Can't blame him. I sure it doesn't mention this situation in his work hand book.

Well lady, I am a medic/cop who's been doing this 20 years now. I would never stop a medic unit nor would I expect to be stopped. The issue was with the cop and the EMT not the cop and the Medic until the Medic decided he was in charge. Realistically in California, a cop or highway patrol officer can commandeer a private ambulance anytime. It's highly unlikely to happen. This was a situation that should never occurred. Personally, I wouldn't have stopped if I was the driver.

The OHP did not have lights or sirens on.
The OHP had his wife in his patrol car.
The ambulance pulled over as soon as he got past the car in front of him.
Ambulances can not just slam on their brakes and stop with a patient on board.
The EMT in charge identified himself and what their status was: Transporting a patient to the hospital.
What's wrong with this picture? OHP is going to let this guy continue as a patrolman? Makes me want to cry!

They weren't both in the wrong, if any officer over a power trip is stopping an emergency vehicle that is bringing somebody to the hospital who may potentially die, time is critical. Funny how the people claiming he needs anger management weren't in the patrol car when the ambulance nearly struck the white car in front of them from behind. The trooper had good cause to pull them over and the medic should have stayed in the truck with his patient instead of getting out and telling the trooper what he could or could not do. Since meditation i can actually feel radar from the police, it feels like stress, and argument and my heart raced as i got closer and i felt it before i even saw a police car pulled someone over, as i got a mile away, it was gone.. This is used for manipulation or they have no idea (yea right) but in this case the officer is stressed out, id bet his radar was on for hours and basically if it makes him feel as i do, id do anything to gtf away from radar.. thats how bad it feels..
