A piano section with several Concert Grands ,Yamaha's CP80, Hohner Clavinet, Hohner Pianet M, Fender Rhodes MK1, Fender Rhodes MK1 Suitcase (and some more)
And
A Organ Section with the Hammond B3... maybe even Farfisa and Vox Continental...
Like the pseudo-B3 percussion sounds, also the drawbarring capability. (Wish they could make a model with a flat-top, so a second 'board could be stacked on it--avoids the several inches' gap between tiers of keys.) Thanks for the excellent demo!
Awesome playing man! The deep purple bit, and the Rhodes with wah bit were particularly cool, but nothing beats those little spinning disks, or those little hammers. The nord is cool, but you can tell it's not the real deal, and for someone as good as yourself, it'll only hold you back, so I reckon (if and when money allows) get a Hammond, or clavi, maybe a Rhodes or Wurlitzer, it'll give your already amazing playing that little extra in terms of sound, and make it perfect.
this all sounds great, but i think if anyone is going to get a keyboard looking for the best classic sounds like rhodes, clavinet, and hammond, definitely go with the new korg sv-1, i think it sounds a lot better
Emulation definition from wikipedia: "An ambition and effort to equal, excel or surpass another; to compete or rival with some degree of success, especially through imitation". Pay attention on last three words.
the sounds are incredibly accurate. what they need to do now is capture the feel of each sound... in other words the action should change to suit each instrument.
@auggiedoggy Yea If you are more of an organ player, get the Nord 3. More into Rhodes and Clav and other stuff, get the Korg SV-1. In my experience, maybe it was just a crappy amp, but the SV-1 just sounds fattttter, but doesn't come close in the organ department.
Great presentation too. Finally someone sucked out from this instrument enough to show what it can do. Great job! I'm adding your video to my favourites.
@guitarsnstuff93422 He's not running a real Leslie. I can see a little light changing from green to red on the bottom left corner every time he turns the leslie on.
Great playing sir.. but question for the play impaired ( i think this is the word lol) does it have a transpose function so I could play a song on c and it would come out as F if I needed once I would know how to play the song on C and the singer on F I hope you understand what I mean. please let me know.. I really depend on that to buy me one of this awesome boards.
yes it does, look in the manual you can download it from their site, i had the same question. i play in a band where the guitar players tune down a half step. so..... thats why i checked.
I tried tons of times to download the manual and its'allways dead.. would be able to upload it on the 4share website... if it's not too much I'm asking. thanks for the tip? Or does it really come with the manual stating all these changes..
I'm thinking of buying one of these, but i kinda want something i can pull light saw synth like leads on, can this be done on the electro? And what about strings? Thanks.
You can now download 371 Nord Lead samples from Nord's website to your Electro 3, if I've understood correctly. And the string sounds that I've tried on the Electro 3 in stores are amazing!
check out their website, it has lots of samples that you can download for the electro 3, plenty of synth sounds and strings including the entire mellotron library. very very good string sounds if you like the mellotron.
@guitarman1568 Yes, they feel great when playing the clav and E.P. sounds as well, They are a bit light for the acoustic piano, but a workable compramise.
Their actually is a huge difference between the NE2 and 3. The 3 has the C1 organ sim, so is a bit better. But the biggest difference is that you can store ANY sound from both the Piano and Sample library from Clavia's website. Check them out, especially the Sample library is full with strings and guitars you wouldn't have on the NE2!
The keys on the 3 are made to act more like a B3 where they trigger the note at the top of the stroke instead of the bottom. Also, I personally think the acoustic piano sounds have been improved.
But the differences aren't extremely big? The Electro 2 is also a great keyboard? The reason why I'm asking this is because I might want to buy a 2 or a 3, but I probably don't have the money for a 3.
Yup, the 2 is a fine instrument, as long as you don't intend to go crazy on those acoustic piano samples. They're not very good, and the lack of an onboard reverb doesn't make things better.
yeah, I think roland does the best job reproducing acoustic pianos as far as keyboards go. I don't understand why Nord doesn't spend as much time on acoustic pianos as they do organ and E.P's.
I've played this keyboard the sound is fantastic my only very slight very quiet moan is the piano is not the best i've heard but as an all in package i don't think this keyboard can be beaten.. and is for sale on Ebay for £1595 or goto the nord dealer and buy for £1409 hmmmm difficult choice
hi, thanks for the demo here. I am thinking about getting one of these myself, and I have a couple questions...
Do you find that it has a low signal output? I know someone who used a nord electro 2 and he said he had to buy a preamp because the output signal was almost non-existent.
Are there any drawbacks you find about playing this keyboard, either in a live setting or just day-to-day practicing?
Any other info about the board would be helpful! I appreciate it.
For recording you want a good preamp at any rate, since the signal will be a bit dull otherwise. And then I would recommend the Amplitube fender amp simulator (where you can get the authentic twin reverb sound for instance).
Stage is of course much more expensive. Stage has better pianos and maybe electric pianos. Guess they share about the same organs. Stage has that 'synth' section. I don't know much about that, but it has a synth module inside.
And of course the keys are different. Unless you buy Stage 73.
the hammond sounds like a monster, the rhodes sounds great, and the clavinet seems really good as well! I noticed one thing and that was that when you played the clavinet, you didn't use any wah-wah which was wierd, but it still sounded great anyway! Nice Deep Purple and Billy Preston! Nice Job Overall! Great Playing!
the second part of the video.... ive been tryin to decipher these chords for years... any advice is welcomed.. any websites etc that would show these?? - im from the uk where not alot of this stuff is readily available.
man I just love this first song.. isn't this Deep purples Maybe im a Leo? anyways sounds so cool.. I just cant wait when i get enough money to buy electro 61
Electro 3 has the better organ-simulation and the capability to load in nord-sample-libraries and the pianolibraries. Stage can only load the pianolibraries, but has the synth-section and pitch stick and modulation wheel that the electro 3 doesn't have. Also the effect sections are bit different.
Good info! Except for the number of keys, the Stage also offers layering options that the electro 3 doesn;'t have which might be a very important feature. Nevertheless the Electro 3 kicks ass!
I've read that the Electro 3 uses the Hammond modeling that was developed for the C1. It had a number of tweaks to make the sound even more realistic than the Electro 2.
It's going to be at least April, 2009, and probably later as Clavia is now embroiled in legal action with their US Distributor for breaking their contract. As they say: Do NOT hold your breath.
one of my fave most played vids on youtube!

What are the major sonic differences (if any) between the Electro 2 and 3 as far as the Hammond sounds go?
tmg1968 3 years ago
I've read that the Electro 3 uses the Hammond modeling that was developed for the C1. It had a number of tweaks to make the sound even more realistic than the Electro 2.

Great man! Love to see some Jon Lord work here! I need this shit... anyone knows when it will be avaialable in US?

It's going to be at least April, 2009, and probably later as Clavia is now embroiled in legal action with their US Distributor for breaking their contract. As they say: Do NOT hold your breath.

Just found some info. Clavia has an announcement on its website that the new distributor in the US is expected to have product starting April 1.
