  • dam jordan had worthy and perkins as teamates domination

  • 35 for Kansas is my basketball coach now haha he's a funny dude

  • Neat that MJs first game was againt my 'Hawks.

  • "Mike Jordan" haha

  • Micheljordano di Carolina del Nord

  • Eww the Tar Heels! I hate UNC. GO WOLFPACK (NCSU)!!!

  • type "short guy dunks" in the youtube search box to see a 5ft 5in guy dunking a 10ft hoop

  • 23 for ever

  • 23 for ever

  • Hahaha they were so naive.. He helps things go, playing in his first game - Mike Jordan. If they only knew.

  • wow, i stopped following basketball after this mike jordan guy's 10th game. what ever became of him? did he even come close to being as good as walter davis or david thompson? i mean those guys are still household names and i am still in the dark about this mike guy!

  • @reg12269 Haha I love these type of comments

  • @basketballscientist its funny right. last i heard he couldnt cut it in the nba or europe and he was reduced to tryin to make it in baseball in the low minors and was having issues with his manager.. some francona guy.

  • Mike Jordan... LOL!! Try "Scott Pippen", thats what they called him when he was first drafted..

  • wow thats crazy the same matt doherty that would later run the team into the ground for 2 pathetic seasons what a coincidence

  • History in the making

  • where the fuck is he 3 pointer

  • James Worthy is a teammate with MJ!

  • I loved how they would show the introductions of the players on TV back in those days. It really gave you the setting, a sense of the emotion of the game, the crowd, the players' focus and everything.

You of course don't get that anymore with TV broadcasts. I think it's too bad.

  • "It's interesting that they came for MJ so early" 2:27

  • when are we going to get a remastered high definition DVD of this?

  • North Carolina Basketball would never be the same

  • mike jordan lol

  • @JonnySchoey27 well we all still call him mike hell even the commercial says like mike lol but according to the UNC PR people Dean Smith had them change his intro to Michael Jordan saying it sounded smoother

  • Who in the fuck are these tomato cans that are playing for KU? They must have been awful back then.

  • notice how there was no special reaction for Jordan

  • What a great matchup so early in the season

  • Jordan is listed here as 6"5" and189lbs, so maybe he hadn't quite finished growing here, as he was listed as 6"6" throughout his NBA career.

  • @21Wook75 He was listed as 6'5 back then coz he wasn't wearing Nike with airsoles!!! Just kidding!!!

  • this game started a basketball dinisity

  • lol.theres not even a 3-point line.

  • thats pretty heavy metal to compare jordan to walter davis and divid tompson lol

  • Too funny at "Mike Jordan."

  • commentator: and here's the man, JIMMY BLACK...

    err, who?

  • i wanna be i wanna be i wanna be like mike

    like mike

    like mike

if i could be like mike

  • The G.O.A.T, enough said.

  • @mickee06

are you shitting me??? don't nobody wanting to be wearin kicks called jumping jack jordans!

  • I would if they came in pink color.

  • stubborn Kansas? WTF?

  • jumping jack jordan sounds much better than air jordan

  • I bet the coach of north carolina who took him off must be kicking himself now :P

  • What a line-up. Sam Perkins, James Worthy, "Mike" Jordan. Kansas really never had a chance!! So nice to see this game again. Early 80's, just awesome Basketball back then. The 80's and early 90's were a fantastic time for Basketball. "Mike" is a big reason why!!

  • Uhh...not only his jumper has grown over years....his ft...his whole athletic....

...bu he allready got his good feel for the game back then...

  • MIKE jordan is that correct ?

  • 2 things that stand out- how amazing worthy was as a college player- people forget what a standout pro he was also.

and secondly how different mjs jumper was- how raw it still was- and how much work he really did put into his game. he totally remoddelled his jumper in the pros.

  • haha no 3 point line

  • No I'm sorry he is the 1st best basketball player ever.

And this coming from knickerbocker fan.

  • The first basket of Jordan's college career. Nice. And so the legend began.

  • mike jordan. hahah love it!

  • little did they know...what he would eventually become...

  • whos the best?

  • magic johnson

  • cool

  • he is the best

  • Thx for sharing!

  • i know in the nba draft in 85 when atlanta had the 1st picked and didnt pick jordan till this day still kickin themselves in the ass hand job that fuckin fags prolly called it that in the 50's

  • I may be mistaken, but I believe that MJ was the very first freshman that Dean Smith started from game 1.

  • only if i could time travel..i would go back to his early years and tell him "hey mike, u'r gonna be a legend.'

  • he knew

  • he knew about knowin too..

  • he already knew. it was everyone else who didn't know.

  • What is it with all that ass-slapping? Seriously. I'm not the most macho guy in the world, but I've never touched a guy's butt in my life, not a pat, not a slap, not a stroke, not a carress. Nada. And I'd never WANT to pat a guy's butt for any reason. So what the hell is going on here???

  • are you a closet faggot or something

  • Grow up.

  • so yea since you cant answer

  • Maybe you prefer cock-slapping...

  • it's a sign of sportsmanship you must not have played sports in high school.

  • I did! I did! For us, the sign of sportsmanship was to give each other hand jobs.

  • what did you play in a gay league or somthin i hope you mean hand shakes.

  • Hand shakes are for little boys. Real jocks give each other hand jobs after the game. You have a lot to learn, young man.

  • hand jobs as in jerking off another man, i'd rather slap thier ass

  • Thank you, Captain Obvious.

  • dude you're a prick pls stop commenting on youtube if you're going to say gay shit like this. i was just asking a question on the first comment.

  • ima give u a mollywop

  • are u gay? ........fag

  • No, I'm not gay. I'm making fun of people who think it's normal for guys to pat each other on the ass just because they're athletes.

  • it's okay for guys to pat each other's asses..... it shows there doing good

  • It's not okay to me. It's a homsexual act for a man to pat another man's ass. I'll stick to high-fives. I don't touch guys' asses for any reason.

  • Future Hall of Famer Mike Jordan with the assist to Future Hall of Famer James Worthy.

  • wtf mike jordan..? i though his michael jordan

  • i was a sperm back then..haha

  • LOL

  • hahahahahaha

  • His basketball moves is like today basketball, hi game is too advance, and simple not making showtime so practical..

  • i dont like the comentator..look down on jordan. lol

  • Impressive, even as a youngster.

  • Wow, Jordan's first appearance in recorded sports history, (unless there is recorded stats from his high school days which I seriously doubt) so this is a HISTORIC game.

  • Great video, we played NC that year, and Worhty and Perkins were absolute beasts. Jordan was just another player, although we knew it was special for a frosh to start the opening game for Dean Smith... up to that time, I think the only Freshmen to start on Day 1 for Dean Smith were Phil Ford, Mike O'Koren, Worthy, Perkins and Jordan. I don't think anyone else did prior to that.

  • defnsive, defensive, defensive ahahahaah

  • Vintage Jordan

  • lol knowing what we do now, its funny hearing the commentators saying the other team should foul him , love how he was one of the rare freshmen to start at unc, shows u the dean knew Jordan was something special

  • wow... "Mike Jordan" ...

full names get more respect :)

  • I belieeeve i can fah-ly

  • MJ>Any player

  • ha! 8:30...Kansas Jayhawkers??

  • That's the original nickname. Jayhawkers were militant abolitionists in the Kansas Territory in the 1850s.

  • MJ > Walter Davis

  • lol?

  • This video is proof Jordan was highly rated out of high school, comparing him to walter davis and the immortal david thompson

  • MIKE jordan?

  • mike jordan

  • look at 8:24 refferi learn to dribble the ball

  • there was NO 3-pt line officially until 1986! starting in '85, some of the smaller conferences started experimenting with the 3 as well as the shot clock. the 3pointer AND the shot clock became official by the 1986-87 season.

  • wheres the 3 point line

  • XD Mj has a big penis but shaq has a small one

  • Hey if you are a unc fan Subscribe to me,im going to start a blog after every carolina game i would really love it if you Subscribe to me and watch it.

  • So Jordan's first shot of his freshman year was a miss. Thank goodness his last shot of his freshman year wasn't!

  • its fun to see the announcer at the end of the game say he thinks michael jordan was going to be a great one...haha if he only knew just how great jordan would become :D

  • nice call, Bucky Waters :P

  • wait, was this game in this beginning of 81? because that wouldnt make any sense. they just said worthy was a junior...but he was on the team when they won the championship in 84...sooo whats going on here?

  • yeah buddy...carolina won the championship in '82. so there's ur problem.

  • i wish there was a 3 point line back then

  • there wasn't???

  • They kept saying FRESHMAN because Dean Smith had NEVER started a freshman in his coaching career other than Jordan. Jordan was always great. Even that story about him getting cut in high school is overblown. He was a 15 year old trying to play on the varsity team when he should have been on the JV team in high school.

  • he's going to be a great one. lol

  • Even at a younger age he was CLUTCH.

  • cool, man he was 18 years old and played like that...serious,there were some seniors playing with him too

  • Yeah but what about Jeff Dishman?

  • the reporter at the end was a visionary...how can i get the entire game??

  • Wow. This is great. The Tar Heels were loaded back then; Jordan, Worthy, Perkins, Doherty, and Jimmy Black..OMG!!

  • he said he's going to be a great one.

  • lol Mike Jordan

  • i dont want to hear FRESHMAN again.

  • me either i hate it when they said,"and Jordan the freshman"..they said it like a million times!!!!!

  • i agree :P .. dont blame them they didnt know what this freshman is capable of

  • Comment removed

  • I meant to type Tar Heel..

  • My aunt worked at Duke and I knew all the players and I was devoted to Duke until 1981. Duke played this team called Carolina. Worthy, Jordan and Perkins... I have been a Tar Hill fan every since. GO Heels...

  • I think james is the number 2 from jordan

    1. JORDAN

    2. JAMES coz james is still young and learning.. (lack of experience)

  • lol it sounds so weird when they said "mike jordan"

  • Great post, thank you!!!

  • The best player in college was Christian Laetner

  • clutch. some say "oh but kobe was 18 and he was already doing his thing in the nba"...ya shooting airballs.

  • In just his first game, notice what they say:

    "Jumping Jack"

"He's compared to Walter Davis and David Thompson" (who scored 76pts in an NBA game)

"He's a better guard than Thompson was"

"He's going to be a great one"

"He's shown me that thoroughbred something that responds to pressure"

"He's going against the system - they normally don't start even the most talented freshmen"

"You can see him growing up in this game"

"His inexperience didn't show there, did it"

    "He's an extraordinary athlete"

  • lol no line of three point

  • wow mike jordan was a freshman

  • WHERE IS THE LINE OF THREE POINT..!!??

  • they didn't have a three point line, untill i think '83

  • actually '86

  • Great rare stuff! Thanks

  • MIKE JORDAN.. hahah

these commentators had no idea wat the young MJ was to become..

  • haha mike jordan? what man its MJ u old ppl

  • haha mike jordan? what man its MJ u old ppl

  • wow you can tell weightlifting was not a priority in basketball back in the 80's

  • Imagine. The AI today playing with them, doing those crossovers. xD

  • It's funny how tony allen of the celtics look like the young Jordan he stole jordan's face lol.

  • What's shorter, the players shorts or the cheerleaders skirts?

  • unfortunately, the players' shorts :)

  • its funny how they just mjs name like hes any old person

  • Thanks for uploading this -- I've never seen it before.

  • I can call Iverson the best player ever under 6'3" tall. But GOAT? You can't punish players for being normal to above normal size, and AI doesn't get bonus points because he did what he did with a height disadvantage.

  • What is wrong with people like leathershorts , Hes makes up bullshit about Jordan's conditioning then trys to compare MJ to Ai as a scorer lol

  • was they playin rick james at 4:39

  • lol yea... ghetto life- rick james that's classic tv for you

  • jordan ran a 4:30 mile so I don't know what you mean by world class.

he couldn't accomplish this in college, because he was slower but he was determined to become better.

  • (MIKE) Jordan LOL. the legend MICHAEL came down the line

  • haha, I got one for you. Jordan is one of the best basketball players EVER! Iverson is not.

  • iverson is a great SCORER, jordan was the best PLAYER. and why did you mention the whole mile thing? and how long is "world-class time" anyway?

i run a 4:30 mile... and i'm sure that iverson CAN'T even break 6:00. he's got a inch on me... but according to you i should be better than AI. lol

  • Iverson is an perrenial NBA leader in steals you total buffoon. Jordan had far greater teammates than AI ever had. When the Sixers worked out Iverson before that draft he ran the mile in a stunning 4:12 even though he never went out for track. Jordan had the WORST mile time for any UNC non-center up until that time and for many years afterwards.

  • lol... I'm just gonna "pretend" that your sources of the "world-class times" are valid so i can get to how silly your other rationalizations are.

    ***

#1 Magic Johnson SUCKS b/c he is TALLER and because he played on a very DOMINANT team.

#2 Isiah Thomas SUCKS b/c he had far greater teammates than you know who.

#3 During his Laker years, Shaq SUCKED b/c he was BIGGER than everyone else.

    ***

  • (con't)

Does any of the above make sense do you? NO??? Yeah... me neither but that's exactly what you've been saying the past wk.

Now I apologize if this video was offensive to you, LeatherShorts, or to AI in any wa... hold on... why did you even mention AI in the first place again? lol

  • are you honestly trying to compare Allen "we talkin bout practice" Iverson to Michael Jordan? You my friend are the total buffoon. AI is an egotistical jackass who constantly whines and blames others when things dont go well. Jordan was possibly the best player in the history of the NBA. AI can't shoot or play D anywhere near the level that Jordon did.

  • fuck up
