this episode for some reason used to scare the shit outta me. i mean it was hilarious but some reason the episode just has a creepy feel to it. Now its my favorite ep of the three stooges.
These were pretty good pies, as far as consistency and coverage, especially for thrown pies!
Yes, the Santa pie incident occurred in Missoula (sp?), Montana. It involved a college student pieing the Santa at a mall. I guess someone got coal in their stocking last Christmas
Or the beginning, although admittedly that would have taken away from the element of surprise that makes all the pie-throws so classic in the first place...
The pies couldn't have been made of shaving cream as the movie was released in 1943 and aerosal shaving cream wasn't introduced until around 1950. They were made out of anything the prop department could come up with that day. Usually marshmellow cream or untoasted meringue which is so sticky it has to be scraped off with a butter knife...
Poor Larry is so blinded by pie goo he can't say his line. This is a very very funny short. Never did find out who was behind the bookcase hitting Curly with the boxing glove.
Is this on any of the dvds yet, this one was one of my favorites

0:16 -- Given that Moe was usually the pie-thrower of offscreen pies (and other objects), I wonder who threw the pies at Moe?

It would've been funnier if a pie had hit the Torch Lady at the end of the short.

I read in the stooges biography that Moe was one that threw almost all the pies in the stooge shorts because he was quite good at it.

Movie comedy director and scriptwriter
Ed Bernds claims that the pies were made of
shaving cream..not marshmellow sauce,choc-
olate sryup and sugar.
But..those pies stick harder than shaving cream.
