Johnny has such a heavenly voice. What a incredibly vast recording career he has had. This song is yet another precious treasure from Johnny. When I here him sing the song Gina I fall in love with her , because Johnny's voice brings her to life
This has been around since '71 or so, when my dad was touring with Johnny as his pianist. Terrific that such an obscurity made it to YT!! Thank you for posting!
Dionne Warwick did this originally -- as she did with most of the Bacharach/David catalogue -- but I like Johnny's version so much better, and it's rare I'd say I like a cover version better that Dionne's!
YES!!!!!! One of mine too. I have so many, lol. But this song was one of the first songs I learned when I was discovering I could sing. The whole album, "Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head," holds a lot of sentimental value to me.
Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head, Honey Come Back, Odds & Ends, Alfie, Watch What Happens, A Man & a Woman, Midnight Cowboy, Everybody's Talkin' Jean, Bridge Over Troubled Waters
Wow, I really like this! Thanks so much for posting and sharing this. It's been almost a year since I last heard this really love Bacharach tune. Sigh. I heard this song for the first-ever time last September, Dionne Warwick's version of it, and instantly fell in love with it! Thank you, thank you, thank you.
I became aware of this masterpiece in the late 70's while in the service. I borrowed the album from the base library. I played this song over and over and over. What a happy and sad song. Superb.
I was a big Mathis fan. He's a lovely singer, but I'd never heard Johnny's version of this number until a few minutes ago (Nov 10th, 2008). I think I still prefer Dionne Warwick's version. Greetings to 2ma4ja7 and everyone ... from Jarrahnut in wonderful Western Australia.
This is a Bacharach tune. In America, I believe this was Mathis' hit primarily. At least I heard him exclusively in Nashville ,TN on WSM radio in the late 60's. Keith

My brother and sister used to sing this song. They knew I was a Johnny Mathis fan when I was 13 when every one else was listening to Andy Gibb lol.

I love the arrangement used for this song, has the country/western cowboy on a round-up kinda beat, but it works.
