OPI... this is a water-marbling tutorial FAIL. Not only is it fugly, and the video quality stanks, but the way the technique is demonstrated here is not the best way to a successful water marble IMO. Sorry to be a hater, but really!
PS ladies, all brands of polish will work. It may take some experimenting to find which polishes spread in the water well together. Glitters don't really work. Everything else is just fine. Use room-temperature filtered water for optimal results as well!
@Haileyscomet803 I thought the same thing but actally I guess there's something in nail polish that just makes it spread and float on top of the water
@triplethreat02 yea I know that's why I went straight to walmarts and bought some cheap nail polish to try with and it works great I didn't even use a top coat and 5 days later and it's not chipped:)
@OceanGirl1128 try sallys or n.y.c. I used those and they work, but you can prob just go to walmarts and pick up random colors I bet they'll work(that's what I'm gonna get tommaro)
@OceanGirl1128 yes. essie, orly, china glaze, sally hansen, sinful colors, etc all work. some colors from those brands might not spread well, though. it depends on the color and not so much the brand. it also depends on the water temp.
not sure if someone posted this already or not, but instead of using tape, i just use chap stick, it makes the nail polish that gets on your skin wipe off with just a piece of paper towel :)
i love the info on this opi channel, but why do they seem blurry and so out of focus? i would think that opi has enough revenue from sales to provide loyal customers with better quality videos. not complaining, just noting. it is alot of fun to do and i use cheapie polish for this technique~ i wouldn't waste my opi gems on water marble!
@pamelahl1 I agree about using cheaper polishes, there is no way I would be able to use OPI polishes for nail marbling no matter how good they are, they are over $20 a bottle down here in Australia, outrageous!!!!!. I use Sally Hansen and Revlon, get as good as designs for a third of the price!!
So... do you guys just not accept video responses, or do you not pay any attention to your YouTube channel other than when you're actually upload a vid?
Do you have to be on Facebook to participate? I'm not on there (& really have no desire to be) but I'd love to submit an entry as a video response if that's a viable option =)

I just have to say that this is an extremely bad waste of an expensive nail polish
And has anyone tried doing it with other brands of lacquer?

Why's the prize a t-shirt? Can't it be something like, um, I dunno. NAIL POLISH?
SparklyTiger555 8 months ago 4
You just drip nail polish in a cup of water? And the nail polish doesn't get watered down? Sorry I'm lost

@gld6437 Yes you can. It's great to do with shimmers as well, they stand out wonderfully.
