Laughing as I cough, I adore the intricacies of this song. It has intense action, heartfelt dialog, reflective contemplation, romance, and clever rhymes. Enchanting! Now that we have learned of the health risks associated with smoking, we wonder if this song presages the discovery that the only people who have ever died "for love" were also smokers.

One of the great Crosby songs that my parents adored in their courting and dancing days. Bing still had that famous "Crosby Cry" in his voice. For me, the many Crosby recordings of the mid-Thirties - some now forgotten - are a treasure trove of passion,

romance and beautiful phrasing. Bing could sing anything: love songs, cowboy ditties, funny duets, Irish ballads, jazz. What a voice!
