  • Yeah!!!

  • you can't improve perfection ...

  • THUMBS UP IF YOURE HERE FOR THE GREAT MIKE OLDFIELD!

  • THANK YOU !

  • Mike Oldfield was one of the greatest progressive rock artist of all time..come on guys.

  • I dont like this singers voice lol, doesn't fulfill the song. Woulda sounded perfect with another artist.

  • True story: I came here to listen to this song because of Kanye West's song "Dark Fantasy." He samples a lot of beats and gets billed as a genius, so I wanted to listen to this song, see that he basically stole it, and dismiss him. What I hear instead is a completely different song. The only line he uses is "Can we get much higher" and his version is so completely different, so much BETTER, that it's not the same song. Kanye turned this simple song into a work of art. Shocked.

  • paul oakenfold meets industrial wanna be

  • Dark Fantasy gives me goose bumps, with the "Oh, Oh, Oh" part. Straight Nasty!!

  • There's a few "Jon and Vangelis" songs similar to this.. though smoe of the best ones are just laid back stuff, IMO.

  • kanye

  • 1:48 for the can we get much higher part, its disappointing ..

  • It's a badass song, and I wouldn't have even known about it if it wasn't for kanye.

  • Like if you here because of Kanye because of Hangover 2

  • I listen to Kanye's 'version'. They are so different. All Kanye did was use the line "Can we get much higher". Well, I personally don't like dance music littered with filthy words, I like songs with meaning.

  • wait mike did this before Kayne did wow

  • Born and raised listening to Mike Oldfield. Everyone who knows the Exorcist knows Mike. I appreciate Kanye for using his music! And especially something OTHER than Tubular Bells (Exorcist) Spread the good music!!! Kayne Just helped Mike out! Why hate? :)

  • i'm here not because of kanye, but because i love the works of both artistes here, mike oldfield and jon anderson.

  • I just listened to lift off and the intro and chorus sound like it got inspiration from this song. I love it tho

  • I heard this from Kayne's song. I'm now addicted to this song....

  • I love how Mike Oldfield fans don't bitch about Kanye sampling him, like Daft Punk fans do.

  • @overbyjames thats because Mike Oldfield doesnt have many immature highschool fans.

  • @NikkoFiT yes, and I appreciate that very much

  • @overbyjames LMFAO thats because there is not Mike Oldfield fans

  • @Varttino LOL I'm sure there's some.

  • @overbyjames EXACTLY!!!!! its so funny, usually the actual artist thats sampled, doesn't mind. I mean, if you made a song and years later was being rejuvenated, you will be flattered, like most of these artists from 60s all the way to now...... its funny how its the fans of those specific artists that go mad.

  • @EmisaryOfDeezNuts yeezy taught you well.

  • this is some david bowie wannabe shit.. excellent selection by kanye tho

  • @MHarryMiller Ahah, do you even know who Mike Oldfield is? Do your homework before saying something like that, seriously. I do agree it was a excellent selection by kanye, but really? David Bowie wannabe shit?

  • A musical jewel

  • YES WE CAN ! :D

  • I love the original.

& Kanye sampled it and made it his own.

  • could the views get much higher?

  • Like if your here cause of kanye

  • Lol...So far in the last 10 minutes, I've been to every song that Kanye sampled on MBDTF, and I have yet to be dissapointed.

    Yeezy Taught me.

  • N!!!CE

  • 20 years later and the RZA still knows where to find a good sample

  • 0:50 ...AH-OH!

  • LikEing

  • What we all came for 0:50

  • kanye didnt sample this

  • @onraj9mm yes he did it says it on the cd

  • one of the best songs ever

  • One of the most melodics songs that ive heard

  • I heard this before Dark Fantasy and was indifferent to it, but now that i heard the Kanye song, I think this song would be about 50x better if it had some piano behind it. This song just feels weak without the strong piano chord backing. Oldfield should re-do it with piano in my opinion...just saying.

  • Kanye took the best part of the song. It's crap other than the "Can we get much higher" part lmbo

  • @cmbuvi92 Yeah lol this song isn't very good.. Props to Kanye for managing to listen to it long enough to hear a part he could sample. It is painful to listen to lol

  • Mike Oldfield is a Genius!

  • i totally have to get stoned to this!!!! lol

  • I'm totally diggin this song.

  • Really, Kanye took this song to a new level. I'm not saying that it's not a good song already, but he's got an ear for beats. He turned this into something nobody else could have.

  • @thatsrightisaidit909 He did not take the song to a new level. He took a tiny sample of a solid song to some other level that so many find amazing. If you want to hear music being taken to a new level, check out Mike Oldfield's "Tubular Bells" or "Ommadawn". And that shit is from mid-70s. Cheers.

  • @kebbs

Okay, I can agree with you a little bit. The fact that Kanye used such a tiny sample of the song does put more of a separation between the two. It's such a small link between them. But I still have to say that My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy WAS music being taken to another level. One of the best hip-hop albums in the last ten years, probably more (have to consider Mos Def, Common, & OutKast). It was absolutely gorgeous. But I will check those out. Thank you for the recommendation. :)

  • @thatsrightisaidit909 implying Kanye made the prod of this track

  • @thatsrightisaidit909 He didn't take any song to a new level.. He just made a song, and used 4 seconds from this one. That has nothing to do with changing this song. Sure, Dark Fantasy is great, but they are completely different songs.

  • @Kelavmeister

Smh. Seriously? You know what, I agree with you. Which is why I rethought my statement, went back, and said THE SAME THING. - _ -

  • @thatsrightisaidit909 You realize the comment I'm referring too is the TOP COMMENT. You really think I would have seen your own rethought out comment?

  • @thatsrightisaidit909 TRILL SPILL AKA I AGREE.

  • i grew up with this music.

    Mike oldfield is amazing.

  • yeezy is so a genius

  • suspect lyrics, and now kanye (illuminati) is connected with oldfield (another who made a pact)

high places were places used for animal & human sacrifice, as well as rituals, prostitution and other fun stuff. The "gods" that were worshipped at the "high places" included Baal (Num. 22:41), among others.

"For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places." Eph 6:12

  • @tseekr379 Fuck off and go jerk off to a pyramid.

  • @tseekr379 buy buy

  • @tseekr379 dude shut the fuk up with that nonsense

  • 0:50, so high...

  • CAN WE GET MUCH HIGHER?

  • absolutely one of my favorite songs, thanks for posting ;)

  • Kanye sample some of the best music of all time! Best Music of All Time!!11!!!!!1!

  • i wish ppl you stop complaining about hip-hop taking music... we know! its a part of the hip-hop culture, we do it to honor past artist while creating another sound

  • Funny I have the same feeling, I love this song, reminds me of my childhood in Greenland (Qasigiannguit)..

  • Man ye tore this shit up!

  • Loved this song since I got the original handed to me when I was a teenager,Beautiful song and melody haven't heard the kanye west version I hope he hasn't spoilt it"Rock on Live Long"=)?

  • i love how kanye sampled this but without copying the melody. it sounds like a totally different song except for that 'can we get much higher?' i hope this made sense lol. but you know, so many rappers/artists will sample a song *coughlupefiascocough* but instead of just using for their own, they basically just use that same beat, melody, rhythm, etc etc for their song.

  • @jamesfrancoswife95 yeah Kanye's samples are always really subtle, but really strong at the same time. The man's a genius of hip hop production, has been for a decade. It's not even fair to compare Lupe to him ;)

  • I always thought I heard 'couldn't get much lighter, now that we get to heaven'

  • It really makes me wonder how Kanye knew about a song that is relatively unknown.

  • @LeMunson Because he's a musical genius. Plus he's open minded and looks for new sounds to fit his style

  • @LeMunson ;-)

  • Dark Fantasy make it better............ in my opinion.

  • The RZA taught me...

  • @srushi25 failed

  • is that jon anderson?

  • @Ieghairdude yup

  • how the hell did kanye/rza (whichever chose the sample) think of turning that line into the chorus? i never would've thought of it (guess thats why im not a producer) but it sounds sooo clean in dark fantasy

  • what a strange feeling

  • yeezy also taught me ;)

  • KANYE WEST

  • i love this song

  • Actually sampling is so much difficult than making an original beat and sampling opens unheard of music to a new audience...

  • Kanye gave it real new life. It's better on DarkFantasy in my opinion. How did he get to know this song?

  • @Doriro hes a producer, so he does HEAPS of crate digging and shit.

  • Great song. I have this album somewhere on cassette! Checked on amazon to update to a CD and it's a small fortune and also unavailable on itunes! Is this album going to be reissued as the first 3 oldfield albums have been in the last couple of years? I hope so, it's great, can make do with listening to it on youtube for now...

  • music is dead cause people only sample? okay bro

  • WHY ALL YOU MUSIC HATERS HATING. GO BACK TO YOUR HOLES AND PLAY CALL OF DUTY OR SOME SH*****. I THINK YOU'LL FIND KANYE DID THIS FIRST, IT WAS ON HIS FIRST ALBUM 'COLLEGE REJECT'. SO WHOOOO LOOKS THE FOOL NOW EH?!

  • all yall bitches hatin on yeezy are fuxxin lame..if it wasnt for my nigga most yall wouldnt even kno this bullshit exist. CAN WE GET MUCH HIGHER?? oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @tpose5three sorry i knew this before yeezy.

  • @kittyxcat8D maybe YOU did but if you scroll up & down this page u will c most of these people say ye had someting to do with them coming here. i didnt say "kittyxcat ..if it wasnt for my nigga most yall wouldnt even kno this bullshit exist" i said most of you. no need to b sorry.

  • @tpose5three lmao your right i just get annoyed that alot of people dont know these good songs until someone samples it. but yeezy's version was good. sorry if i rubbed you the wrong way with my words

  • @kittyxcat8D its all good. i hadnt heard of this till dark fantasy came out & this definitely isnt the type of music i listen too. but after listening to it a few time i actually like it.

  • dark fantasy - kanye west

  • I have always loved this song, the off beat timing of the music is great. Oldield rules

  • @iiuhuhuhuh this came out before kanye so who looks like the fool now

  • @iiuhuhuhuh tell me about it, bring back the originality of the mind. only then will music be beautiful, our culture enhanced and mankind at peace. Kanye needs to stop ripping tracks off dead people.

  • @pretyfly2001 It's called a sample. Samples play a pretty solid foundation to hip hop and rap.

  • @pretyfly2001 Er, Mike Oldfield isn't dead.

  • @iiuhuhuhuh Kanye west used this song as a sample for his "dark fantasy" track. This song was made in 1987. lol

  • @iiuhuhuhuh You, sir, are and idiot.

    lmgtfy[DOT]com/?q=you+sir+are+and+idiot+meme&l=1

  • Kanye and RZA took a pretty average sample and made it sound absolutely amazing in it's flipped form. (The entire intro).

  • Yeezy Taught Me

  • this is the best song ever!

  • @kalliew07 agreed

  • I fantasize bout this back in chicago....

  • Yeezy taught me.

  • even though it was a collaboration to produce the song "dark fantasy" i would definitely say that RZA came up with the concept and sampled this. If you are familiar with his work you would know that dark fantasy has a very RZAish beat...actually i only looked this song up because i thought the same sample may have been used on an old Wu-tang track

  • Kanye can sample.

  • Seriously, imagine Kanye in the studio listening to this and thinking....."I want this on my album."

  • @bg546 From what Kanye has on his album from what this song is I can't even begin to think how he even though to sample this.

  • @bg546 rza produced it

  • One sure thing you'll get from Kanye West...GREAT SAMPLES. Explore your music people! Know where they come from!

  • @Doza8791 rza produced it

  • @Jal8592 even better

  • Wow, this my favorite Oldfield song, and one of my favorite songs in general. A friend played Kanye's latest album for me a couple of days ago, and boy was I surprised ot hear he had sampled In High Places. I didn't think anyone but me knew about or cared for this song. I've never met anyone (Oldfield fans included) that had any relationship to this song.

  • @Tyralyon , well... I thought I was alone too when I uploaded this song a couple years ago.... now we know we are at least two :)

  • @Kalaaleq69 Make that three. :)

  • @Kalaaleq69 I love this song too, I heard it years ago on crises and it's my favourite one from that album, I like it even more than moonlight shadow and foreign affair ... so you're not alone!! :)

  • @Tyralyon dude metoo i was so proud to recognize it lol my dad listens to mike oldfield

  • @Tyralyon I always loved this song, from the day I heard it the first time.... It always comforted me somehow and it leaves me with tears in my eyes everytime i hear it

  • @Tyralyon you ll need to get out more.Ha! No your right there ive only ever spoke to one other person who even knew of the album.Ive been into it since the late 80s,im an old yes fan hence i love jon andersons singing on yhis track.tubular bells was the 1st album i ever bought.

  • @Tyralyon As a 100% Yes fan I like Jon Anderson on he vocals. And I imagine that the drumpart is a small tribute to Bill Bruford, but that might be just me...

  • If I had a choice between Kanye's and the original, I'd say the original. Sure Kanye's is amazing, but nothing beats the original, it's just classic..

  • Could we get much higher?

    So high..

Oh Oh Oh! :D Kanye West is amazing!

  • this song a banger this shit go nuts

  • Haha it's sad that Kanye gets more attention than this guy... But dark fantasy was still genius

  • @boonesnake

    Kanye's song sounds much better.

  • Kanye made me fly over here

  • yo, how'd you know about this song?

    yeezy taught me :)

  • @TheUNcoolAlien Lmao!

  • @TheUNcoolAlien

haha i wish i could thumbs up this more than once

  • Comment removed

  • @TheUNcoolAlien yeezy taught you well, yeezy taught you well ;)

  • @TheUNcoolAlien yeezy taught u well lol

  • Kanye sent me here

  • did dark fantasy's melody come from this track too? i cant hear it in there..

  • @VincentVega44 the "CAN WE GET MUCH HIGHER?" is wat kanye sampled

  • @VincentVega44 a bit the part at 0:50

  • Ye!

  • lol this song's kinda funny, but rza is such a genius!

  • Ye has some weird taste in music ahaha

  • fuck RZA is a genius

  • Where does Kanye & Co find these songs haha?

  • @beretboy22 Hip Hop producers kind of have an entire record store in their heads...the way they know exactly what part of an old song they want to sample.

  • @tswagg504 yea but theyre hiphop producers how do they kno any of these songs especially songs that are like jazz, classical and etc.

but sampling is incredible it makes me wanna b a producer

  • @d0peboimagic2 shiiid I guess the only way they know about songs like this is pure curiosity...I know that I personally discover music from artists I've never heard of at least once a week. My little brother is a producer and he just listens to any and everything that has a melody....nothing is off limits when it comes to sampling...even country music

  • RZA made the beat for Kanye, not kanye himself :)

  • @PistonsNr1 actually they collaborated :)

  • @PistonsNr1 and No ID

  • Way to go Kanye!!!

  • Simple but effective!

  • anyone else going to 0:48 and then clicking back bout 4 seconds later? Good sample, i don't like this original version tho

  • I'm here because of Kanye!!! Genius sample

  • don't forget The RZA and No I.D.

  • lol its so funny cuz 90% of us came her bcuz of Kanye

  • How the fuck did Kanye know about this song lmao......He made that line hot though

  • such a good song !!!!! thanks kanye for sending me here and discover new music whit your samples

  • YEZZY TAUGHT ME

  • You ain't got no fuckin' Yeezy in your Serrato?

  • @bbernens you ain't got no YEEZY NIGGA!?!?!?

    <
