@AZ274 saxo has 100kgs less so in term of bhp/ton for -2kgs = +1bhp/ton so the saxo would have close to 160bhp/ton almost exactly the same as the clio. the clio in the video however should have massivly better brakes then the saxo they can stop from 100mph in 3.9seconds. they stop quicker then a veyron as standard. plus the clio is named 172 after it output in PS its 172PS or 168BHP. on the road or on the track bhp/ton is what counts hence the clio can stick to a scooby

Just by looking at the video you can see massive amount of body roll of the clio in comparision to the VTS. If you want a fast car in a straight line then you might want to look into american cars :). Anyways for the money you save buying the VTS turboing it would leave the clio in the dust!

I used to own a Saxo VTS identical to the one in this video. It was an excellent car and never broke down. But even at just 36000 miles it did rattle a lot and the interior was very brittle and cheap. Owned plenty of quick cars since, but I still have such fond memories of the VTS. :-)
I wouldn't mind a vts\gti but i know that i'd just by buying myself into world of oil and misery in the end. it's a crying shame, the only thing on par with the vts\gti is the lupo gti but with higher build quality comes less chuckable fun.

I raced a nova red top in a 106 gti (same as the vts) and was very close but i kept nudging ahead everytime! Most novas are nakerd now but this one was immaculate, best one ive seen in years
I have it on video so ill try and dig it out ;) i actually had an extra passenger too (camera man), only modification on the 106 was a ram air filter, supposedly adds around 10bhp. The 106 i had was an extremely good example, bought it off a middle aged couple and was rapid compared with other vts/106 gtis. When it was standard it was completely level with a vts with cams/remap/exhaust.

@mdbchris Evo magazine tested it at 7.6 for the vts and 7.4 for the gti. Basically because the 106 has smaller 14" wheels. I have a lot of respect for them because ive had one. Was a few years ago now but had milltek manifold, mongoose exhaust inc decat and a ram air style carbon filter, roughly 145bhp id imagine. Best race i had was against an ep3 type R and managed to beat it to 100mph and hold it off till 120 before he passed me. Not bad for a small car like you say ;)

@kaopa80 all the top end damage on my saxo was due to a defective oil pump.
I hit a speedbump at 40mph...and my rear axel disintegrated. Gearbox and clutch are weak, when my gearbox went, i took it back to the dealer and it was replaced under warranty.

I've had my Saxo going on 10 years now, god knows how many miles, just passed it's latest MOT this week actually, never failed, never let me down.

Well for starters they should of had Tiff Nidel in the Clio and that poxy women driver in the other and you would have seen the difference. A touring car driver should be able to make any slower car keep up with a more powerful one, which he did.
Never mind if your vts is faster. The renault is a total cow pat of a car. Many mates have had them also sport ect ect and they've always had trouble gearbox electrical the list goes on. But the saxo is unburstable. Non of my mates have ever had a new cars so all these break downs have been used cars.
Only on the straight cos its got more power. The saxo is better in the bends ive worked on both and belive me the saxo is better designed and is easy to work on and it wont break down. Plus the saxo is cheaper. Reault make shit cars and have done for years.

I have it on video so ill try and dig it out ;) i actually had an extra passenger too (camera man), only modification on the 106 was a ram air filter, supposedly adds around 10bhp. The 106 i had was an extremely good example, bought it off a middle aged couple and was rapid compared with other vts/106 gtis. When it was standard it was completely level with a vts with cams/remap/exhaust.

Ive got a 270bhp focus RS now and my heart still goes everytime i get a gti/vts at the lights because i know he will still be within spitting distance by the time i get to 60 lol

@mdbchris Evo magazine tested it at 7.6 for the vts and 7.4 for the gti. Basically because the 106 has smaller 14" wheels. I have a lot of respect for them because ive had one. Was a few years ago now but had milltek manifold, mongoose exhaust inc decat and a ram air style carbon filter, roughly 145bhp id imagine. Best race i had was against an ep3 type R and managed to beat it to 100mph and hold it off till 120 before he passed me. Not bad for a small car like you say ;)

@kaopa80 all the top end damage on my saxo was due to a defective oil pump.
I hit a speedbump at 40mph...and my rear axel disintegrated. Gearbox and clutch are weak, when my gearbox went, i took it back to the dealer and it was replaced under warranty.
I didnt give the car a hard time, and i know how to treat a car.
I think your car knowledge is that of a blind donkey's tbh...judging by your opinions.
i have got a civic now.....No problems in the slightest.

I've had my Saxo going on 10 years now, god knows how many miles, just passed it's latest MOT this week actually, never failed, never let me down.
Since most speed bumps are only ever in 30mph zones, question begs.. why the hell would anyone go over a speed bump at 40mphs and then claim they know how to treat a car, seriously?

my vts is close to 180k km at the moment and the only thing i ever had to replace was the hudraulic sustem on the steering wheel.
if u treat it right it ll treat u right.
piston breakdown before 60k......i can only imagine what u must have done to the poor motor while it was still cold or whatever else.

Well for starters they should of had Tiff Nidel in the Clio and that poxy women driver in the other and you would have seen the difference. A touring car driver should be able to make any slower car keep up with a more powerful one, which he did.

Never mind if your vts is faster. The renault is a total cow pat of a car. Many mates have had them also sport ect ect and they've always had trouble gearbox electrical the list goes on. But the saxo is unburstable. Non of my mates have ever had a new cars so all these break downs have been used cars.

Only on the straight cos its got more power. The saxo is better in the bends ive worked on both and belive me the saxo is better designed and is easy to work on and it wont break down. Plus the saxo is cheaper. Reault make shit cars and have done for years.
