@sonic20808--- I have a betta fish named Oscar, and I take him out of my fish tank when I clean it, and I have had him for 3 weeks now, and have cleaned his tank like, 50 times. He is still alive and healthy. Bettas will live if you quickly transfer them to another tank or cup.

WTF every comment on here is so angry! i have 4 goldfish and one is already dead cuz the water was dirty within two weeks so im pretty sure i have to clean it every two weeks. can someone tell me what to do please? i dont have a fancy fish tank or super crazy filter just 3 goldfish and a plain fish tank with regular water and aquarium rocks. Problems that /an/ has found:

1.Taking fish out of an established tank for no reason

2.No heater

3.remove almost all the water for no reason

4.taking out the active gravel and replacing it with sterile gravel instead of using a gravel syphon

5.no water conditioner of any kind appears to be used

6.fish is apparently just dumped back into the water with no thought give to the change in tempature or chemical make-up

@harizotoh7 (in my opinion) bettas dont need heaters as long as their home (and yours) is about room temperature, but other than that youre spot on

ppl keep complaining about this video i thought it was good here is a few points

1)stop saying you only supposed to change 25% not all of it, it say only 25% in the video the rest was a total clean of the tank.

2)water conditioner is nice to use but is not a necessity fish can live without it.

3) a heater really its a small tank no need for heater(they are always nice though)

4)siphon to clean gravel in that tank is too much i don't use one in less its 20g or more.

@dsheroka Iv made some Vids explaining how to do it..... Those points you mentioned are very wrong (not changing 25% is correct.....) If you follow the steps in this video your fish will eventually die.

@spudsssy i am a proud fish owner have had many fish and not had any die, I'm not saying its right it is better to give fish everything they need like the water conditioners and everything else but what i was saying for a small tank like this u dont need things like that under a 10 gallon tank only thing u really need to do is change water to keep clean u dont need conditioner there's other ways(thats all i meant by that), im not following the steps in this vid i owned fish longer than that lol

@dsheroka I know what ya meant..... Personally i think small tanks need extra care. The temperature can fluctuate in a small tank way more then a large one so you really need a heater for tropical fish.... In Small tanks Nitrates can rise to harmful levels much faster than in larger tanks so a gravel Vac is a must.... Tap water is way more harmful to fish in small tanks, Smaler body of water means greater change in chemisty so you have to use water conditioner....

@spudsssy u don't have to use water conditioner if u don't use tap water for small tanks i see no reason to use tap the guy in the vid is definitely wrong about that, like i said before a heater is very useful it is a good thing if u can buy one do so ,but fish dont truly need it as long as u can keep the temperature in ure house at a constant then there water temp wont fluctuate,fish live out doors the temp changes they adapt(i understand tropical is different).notenoughroomformet­osayevrything

You guys.. that's a betta fish =_= Bettas can handle 100% water changes like its nothing. Well I mean sure it's more stressful on the fish than partial, but bettas don't require cycled tanks.

They did forget to mention to dechlorinate the water though..

don't forget that tap water has trace amounts of chlorine in it, which is enough to kill your fish! be sure to treat it with de-chlorinator before re-introducing your fish to the tank.

This is a really bad video over all, It is a betta fish inside so a heater is required. You should put chlorine remover and liquid bacteria in the tank when changing the water. You should only really change 25% of the water at once.
