i remember seeing Virginia Astley perform this on BBC1's old "Pebble at One" .I had just bought my very first ever Video recorder, and this was the very 1st thing i decided to record on it! Ahh, memories of 1982!!
hope people keep our planet like this..............insted on planning and invented arms for war, its better to find a fund to make our planet nice and beautiful?
A very relaxing video. I grew up with Virginia Astley and her sister Alison in a small Thameside village. I don't think that I have ever heard a note of her music before! I've clearly been missing something.
Its one of those works that coloured my imagination aof perfect spring/summer day! Where all ingredients still persist, not consumed by our frentical days and due to the climate changes. Thank you VIRGINIA!
hi! was surprised to actually find something by Astley on YouTube. i have one of her albums from the '80's(?)with Ryuichi Sakamoto and David Sylvian. if anyone could upload some of that, it would be great. can't remember the name, something very somber, but beautiful.
Great! "With My Eyes Open Wide I'm Dreaming" is one of the most powerful tracks on the total masterpiece that is Virginia's "From Gardens Where We Feel Secure". Neat choice of pictures to set it to, too.
lovely! i used to listen to her album with 'some small hope' on it over and over back when it came out. i'll have to buy it now! thanks for the inspiration!

Interestingly enough, this a noticeably different version than the original 1983 vinyl one.

You're right, I don't remember to well the vinyl version of 1983, but from what I recall it was more smooth and calm, more bucolic...

a part of this music was the generic from a radio music program at a Portuguese radio, many years ago...
it gave a opportunity to a lot of Portuguese to "meet" her music
pity she gave up publishing more music so early
