This was an excellent movie. The story reivindicates the Morgana Le Fey character. And at the end, shows the syncretism between the old mother earth's religion and christianity. Totally recommendable.

She was a high priestess for many years of her own covenant. Oh, pick up a book. This is the only series out there about the female perspective of Camelot, but it also covers the entire Roman conquest. This includes the coming of Christianity to Britan, and the susequent stamping out of the Druids. Everything else is written from a male perspective, and shows all of the women in the worst light possible.
There are not many movies out there about the female perspective on the Camelot era. I liked that it showed Morgaine in a (somewhat) new light as opposed to being some crazy "fairy/witch" who sleeps with her brother in order to get power.
I feel that to often woman back then were portrayed as being either evil or bitter.

This video is very soothing and from the way it is put togather with the song it looks like there was a romantic intrest between Viviane and Merlin. And I agree Enyas' voice seems to be past present and future.
I find that intresting because the only merlin lore I have read was fictional works by TA Barron in the Lost Years of Merlin Saga a very got set of book if I do say so myself. In the books an old Merlin mentions to his younger self the Nimue locked him in a crystal cave with several enchantments that he had taught her. That and I also find it intresting because I never had the chance to watch the Mists of Avalon miniseries. A rather grievious happenstance in my opinion.
And into even more ancient history with Mars chasing Venus, but never succeeds. Mars also does battle with Venus when Venus turns from her motherly aspect to her warrior/hag/angry goddess aspects. Old tales from as far back as 9500BC with the introduction of Sun.
I love this kind of stuff, arthurian legend, and I love books, seriously reading is mostly what my free time is spent on, but I could not get through this book. It just didn't keep my interest, I didn't care in the slightest for the characters, haha. I love this song though.
It took me about 3 times to finally read the book. At first it was just to much to progress. All those characters and such. Anyway, I chose to keep on reading and now it is one of my favourites. It is absolutely beautiful.. All you have to do, is keep on going. (:
It's good that you persevered in reading it. Often, you'll find that it's the books with many characters, detailed description of different, complex settings, and a deep storyline, that are hard to read because of the amount of concentration needed to make sense of it all. But epics are known for their complexities...it's why they are so rich...I always admire the authors who are able to bring such complexity to life. They have incredible imaginations.

Barron. btw tishalynne women weren't exactly worshipped, their ability to bear children was revered. They were however considered to be just as smart and badass as men (which is true btw).
This was a wonderful movie, I own it. DyingintheLight pretty much summed it up, and this version of Arthurian legend seems to make a little more sense than the stories that have been told, a must see for anyone who practices pagan beliefs or those who can have an open mind about such things =)
The Mists Of Avalon is not about just king author. Its about Paganism and their struggle to continue their practices while charistians try reigning supreme. And also about how Paganism changes hands from the Ancient ways to Mother Mary becoming the new deity. IE reincarnating it from Paganism to Roman Catholic. Altho many of us Pagans still exsist. Its just been handed down through the generations. Its a very very good movie.

That and I also find it intresting because I never had the chance to watch the Mists of Avalon miniseries. A rather grievious happenstance in my opinion.

And into even more ancient history with Mars chasing Venus, but never succeeds. Mars also does battle with Venus when Venus turns from her motherly aspect to her warrior/hag/angry goddess aspects. Old tales from as far back as 9500BC with the introduction of Sun.

I love this kind of stuff, arthurian legend, and I love books, seriously reading is mostly what my free time is spent on, but I could not get through this book. It just didn't keep my interest, I didn't care in the slightest for the characters, haha. I love this song though.

It took me about 3 times to finally read the book. At first it was just to much to progress. All those characters and such. Anyway, I chose to keep on reading and now it is one of my favourites. It is absolutely beautiful.. All you have to do, is keep on going. (:

It's good that you persevered in reading it. Often, you'll find that it's the books with many characters, detailed description of different, complex settings, and a deep storyline, that are hard to read because of the amount of concentration needed to make sense of it all. But epics are known for their complexities...it's why they are so rich...I always admire the authors who are able to bring such complexity to life. They have incredible imaginations.

Did you ever see someone as beautiful as Anjelica? Well, I could cry right know, because she is so beautiful!!! I remember that as a child I fell in love with her as she played Morticia Addams. I love her music and the vids here, and LOTR's too, Then I ran across Christian videos and wow, reconnected with my faith big time. I think Enya is very spiritual, and she recalls reminds us of our child selfs, when we were innocent and full of God's beauty , it is only natural to want to reconnect with that, No one is closer to God than a child. Beautiful! when was this movie made? I guess it was considered to weird for us Americans. now I really need to see this movie. tishalynne and NYSA1789, if you want to read more about King Arthur, Merlin, and Viviane read the Lost Years of Merlin by T.A. Barron. btw tishalynne women weren't exactly worshipped, their ability to bear children was revered. They were however considered to be just as smart and badass as men (which is true btw).

This was a wonderful movie, I own it. DyingintheLight pretty much summed it up, and this version of Arthurian legend seems to make a little more sense than the stories that have been told, a must see for anyone who practices pagan beliefs or those who can have an open mind about such things =)

The Mists Of Avalon is not about just king author. Its about Paganism and their struggle to continue their practices while charistians try reigning supreme. And also about how Paganism changes hands from the Ancient ways to Mother Mary becoming the new deity. IE reincarnating it from Paganism to Roman Catholic. Altho many of us Pagans still exsist. Its just been handed down through the generations. Its a very very good movie.

The series by Marion Zimmer Bradley were fantastic. I couldn't stop reading till I had read them all. Was disapointed when there weren't anymore! I spent a summer reading them. Wish we could go back to that era when women were worshipped.
