You're a great musician! Berklee is not the school for you. My son was asked to audition at Berklee and he declined, mainly because the new music director at his school is a graduate of Berklee and he's a total dick. My son will not attend a school that produces DICKS!!!!

very surprised you didn't get in especially after some of the audition videos I've seen of people who made it.  Did you screw up the sight reading or call and response or some other portion of the audition?

I just cant grasp how you didnt make it in.. screw berklee to expensive and besides there aren't many great musicians that ever went to college, and music teachers can get get a degree anywhere. I liked your composition good job man

Hrm...your phrasing was a little weird, in my opinion...you cut a lot of parts short, and it felt like a wall just popped up. (I imagine the music as pictures).

good, but to tell you the truth, by about the third minute it gets boring. switch it up and go into another key or something. still, i very much hope you got in, and it was a very good entry. sounds A LOT like Dream Theater, especially Track 2.

one thing about your playing is that to me it seems like none of the tone is coming from your fingers..its coming from that steroided out tone, and the tremelo bar, and the playing is kinda sloppy...like imagine this played on acoustic solo it would sound pretty bad...you definately have jazz skills though, its just the feel that needs work.

it doesnt have to be... just most people do like i'm going to because a lot of people feel a lot more comfortable playing their own stuff... ive heard from a bunch of people that confidence is half of it

it doesnt have to be, but a lot of people do because its more impressive to show the guys at berklee that you can writre something cool since your training to become a pro musician. it deinitely doesnt have to, though, and if you lookat berklee's website youll see that you can choose to play a cover, as well. hope this helped :)

I think it was because you just didn't have enough dynamic in tone in your song. You play excellent, all you need is to change your guitar tone a little bit. Your chords all correlate wonderfully in the backing track, but the same reverberated guitar tone following the chords and melody for this long just gets drab.

haha how do u not know what im talking about? u must still have not figured it out!...its just like u play the notes right but there all off so they dont fit with the beat...its like your unsure of what youre playing...or what your going to play...yea a lot of parts sound really good, its just like the faster parts and some slower parts...where ur just not in the beat really...theres no rhythm...

the music man is right. You have to feel it. Play more blues, you gotta have soul. It sounds like you know how to play, its just getting a really feel for the music as a whole. You really gotta feel the music. Sorry I cant really explain it, its really hard to do. You'll get it.

@PerroneKayser on one hand, i can see why they didnt LOVE your playing and accept you right away... but you show tremendous effort, and i dont see any reason why you shouldnt get in. criticisms though: your lines are very predictable and you use the same ones over and over.. sort of like that guy said, some flow but not at all times. it could be much more graceful. maybe even too many notes. basically, you dont make it sing.

You didn't get in?! You've gotta be shitting me... If you did well on the audition and interview, what was your weakest link? Bad grades? Lack of extracurricular involvement? Sheesh, my audition is coming up next month and I'm a bit discouraged if you didn't get in. You clearly know your jazz chops and I'm just a bonehead shredder.

no everything was pretty much where it needed to be. Im doing a music program out in california now and some of my teachers tell me they dont know why they didnt accept me but to be honest with you im glad they didnt. Ive come to realize many things since then and its only been progress. Thanks for the comment.

Hey man, no worries! Seriously, just apply yourself to your instrument intensively and reapply next year. Seriously commit yourself though; make it the main focus of your life,...and you will certainly succeed. It's very doable and many students enter later. But don't wait long because self-study while not in a musical institution has big effects on your discipline. Keep focused. You're good man :)

thanks.I did fine on both my audition and interview, actually i think I had a stronger interview because it turned out the guy interviewing me was a big Yes and Genesis fan so we just got caught up in conversation about them and how Steve howe was gonna go visit berklee or something. The only area that I did poorly in was the sight reading, but ive been told to not worry too much about that.I played another original comp thats not on this video and the jazz standards that are at the end ofpar 2.
