@EmilReiko Det är bara vanligt danska. Men du är ju dansk, tror du att de låter konstigt eller?
@IUVENTIU It's actually Danish, not Faroese. They're from the Faroe Islands and they do have songs in Faroese but they also have a few in Danish, probably for historical and why-the-fuck-not reasons.
@apoct Some of their songs are sung in gøtu-danskt (a Faroese dialect of danish) or Norwegian, because some of the post-reformation priests were danish/Norwegian (imposing the danish language over the people) and they brought some of their local ballads to the islands, there may have been local Faroese versions of the same ballad. Týr use traditional ballads and kvæði as a basis for some of their material - and the socalled prestavísur (priestballads) are part of Faroese tradition.
@druidlololol I;m sorry for asking this question because it not really related to the song but witch month do you think is the best to travel to Faroe islands?
@ownya8 july and august. music festivals n shit going on here at that point! :) and yes, týr have performed here a lot around those times through out the years.
The emperor out of the window peeked, with anxiety and a sorrowful look. "Who is the man in the courtyard standing, laughing so ugly?" "It is me, and I want..." Ramund said, "to duel with you", said Ramund the Young. Ramund took his large knife, the one he called Dymlingen Dyre....NOTE: the last part I'm not sure how to translate literally to English because I'm not familiar with the terms used in Danish, even though written Danish is similar to standard Norwegian
Ramund would be a better man, if he had better clothes. The queen gave him clothes to look at, of blue yarn, bast and leather. "This I don't want" said Ramund, "This is not for me", said Ramund the Young . Ramund walked the beach by the (salty) sea, where he saw 7 trolls standing. "I'll take Ramund in my smallest hand, and throw him far from land." "That you won't do by yourself," said Ramund, "you have to come all 7 of you", said Ramund the Young
Ramund took his expensive sword, the one he called Dymlingen Røde, and cut the 7 trolls so they bled to death. "There lies all 7 of them", said Ramund, "here I still stand", said Ramund the Young.

@antagonist42 ahahaha love Craked.com articles. They're all gnarly. Have you ever read the one on metal? The black metal part is fucking great. The whole thing is absolutely hilarious.
That being said... I think like, if you didn't care, you wouldn't have bothered to say anything. Seems like a waste of energy, but thasss jist me. My comment is something I would have said anywhere, at the grocery store, some holy place, a family picnic, anywhere.
Its Viking Metal which itself is a form of Folk Metal.
It originated with the band Bathory who were originally black metal but has a styalistic change in singing style and playing as well as a deeper focus on Viking theme. Amon Amarth is another and stylistically is Viking metal leaning towards Melodic Death Metal.
@Notides360 there are many bands, not only viking metal, viking metal created folk metal from allmost every nation, each band goes about it differently, some like tyr, others like amon amarth, or enslaved. folk metal rules! brings back pride in us all i suppose. I listen to cetlic, viking, anglo-saxon and about anything i find catchy i guess hahah.
@reelnatio this is an old(ancient) danish(viking) folk song although this version is more awesome than the original, if you listen to some other songs from tyr you can hear i's not something they would write but just call it a classic folk song played by a vikingmetal band
