344,000 miles from earth? that's closer to the moon's orbit than the earth; 90,000 or so, i beleive, so it could very well have hit the moon!

The Earth's Moon is about 240,000 miles (it varies) that means the closest part of the pass was 1.4 times the moons distance!

& even if they were closer at some pt to the earth the calculation can be made so precisely[once observed for a couple o days or weeks] to say exactly what it will hit & what it will not hit. "Could" is couldn't.
