I've bought three X2 Callisto CPUs and only one of them was stable after I unlocked both dormant cores. I'm just going to pay the extra money and buy a real guaranteed X4 or X6 if I want one.
@ryandonian, if you have then OEM version of windows 7 installed on the hard drive, you cannot change the motherboard, the retail version would not have this problem
HOW DO I GET RID OF THE "this copy of Windows is not genuine" ON MY COMPUTER???
i used the drive from an old laptop which already had Win7 on it, and had all my files, so i just used it in my new system. is there a way to contact Microsoft and tell them that i'm the same person?
@ryandonian go to the activation link, -start- computer- properties and click activate windows, when you go to active choose phone activation, call microsoft and a automated computer system will ask you for all the numbers on all the rows ABCDE...., after you give it all the numbers it will automatically spell new numbers that you will write down and after it tells ya all numbers just click activate or ok and it will work.
hey man i am planning to buy a AMD FX*4 poccesor in an ASUS AM3+ ( i think it is the simpliest). But i am confused with those stupid things like the core unlocker and the turbo button. if i buid the pc without activating those two, will the proccesor still work all 4 cores at 3,6Ghz and with 12 L2 cache????? please i need your answer
I have a X2 that is not black edition and when i boot in up in Quad core it runs fine I ran it for only 3 hrs on prime95 but the only thing that got me was that Windows 7 64bit, the Windows Update would not work at all the service would be runing and I would get this message that the service is not. Could this be because its not black edition CPU? Seems that it would not mater tho since it worked but i guess you never know.
Asus not azuz! a-sus!!! Now that we got that pronounced properly I got a problem with the unlocking! The frigging bios, (not bioz) says 6 cores are on but when the computer reboots the motherboard option screen says 4 cores are activated...well that is what I got is a frigging 4 core AMD athlon 2 X4 640 at 3ghz....so any tips to what the scam is going on here?
My (Windows corporation with the windows flag) loading screen never show itselfs its is just black for me but the computer is running, does that means that my core is unstable?
Ive got a Phenom X4 Black and a M4A87TD EVO from Asus. My first rig (I am new to the world of computer building). Saw the big sticker about the core unlocker on the box but I wasn't sure how it was used. Thanks for a great vid.
I wanna do this to my CPU, But im just to scared that something will go wrong, and ill have to but like 200 bucks into fixing it lol, So, i dont think ill do this, But does it actually Improve your system, like by making it faster?
@philhalo66 Have you checked it's specs and features on Asus's site? From what I can see since it's an AM3+ socket which means it's pretty much pointless for AMD to release an AM3+ cpu with locked cores.
@philhalo66 Well I checked the Asus motherboard section and all versions of the "M5A97" (e.g. M5A97, M5A97 PRO, M5A97 EVO) do not feature the core unlocker utility. Apparently the series your looking for is a relatively high end board so if your buying it your supposedly buying a high end cpu with unlocked cores. I suggest the "M5A88" series, they're a step down from the "M5A97" but feature the core unlocker utility.
I have a 4 core CPU and In the bios setting the CPU Core Unlocker menu says that 6 cores are active but when the computer boots the ASUS menu screen says 4 cores are activated and of course windows 7 will only recognize just the 4 cores. Anybody got a recommendation on what I can do to get this to work?
@homebrewelectronics same here cant figure it out im running the 965 black edition on this mobo in bios says all 6 cores unlocked but then cant see them anywhere else.
@icelady1968 Not even dual cores too? I thought you could also make a dual core into a tri or quad core... I guess I'd understand not being able to get another core out of an already 6-core processor, but yeahh...
@orangehasrhymes dual cores doesnt have 2 disabled cores, a single more may have that. dunno but tri cores are either disabled 4 cores or a core is broken but as linus says you can get lucky with a dual core and get maybe ven a quad core
@l1vefordaweekend Thanks, I already build the PC a few weeks ago. I just put booted Windows first then went back and flipped the Switch and wam, 4 cores activated. Ran multiple games at max settings and they didn't fail so all is good.
@l1vefordaweekend One word of advice though; If changing the hard drive from default to dynamic.. it might not recognize and not reboot. I had to reformat turn the core unlocker off reinstall and then unlock. Not sure why it wouldn't work with it being changed to dynamic.. though it still is now but like i said i had to reinstall windows os.
@19ANGELxOFxLOVE92 yes drivers stopping or any odd effects means its unstable try using a program like furmark that stresses your gpu to test stability after ocing

@withcookies I dont think it will work for the 1055t I have the same processor and motherboard aswell. I enabled core unlocker and it disabled one of my cores leaving it to 5 . It generally works for x2,3&4 phenom II i think. I'm curious if adjusting Advanced Clock Calibration to All Cores from AMD OverDrive is a way of unlocking any extra cores. Also can an AMD Phenom II X4 955 3.2GHz be unlocked to six-core (with a lot of luck ofc)? :)

@TheBigupz well depends what your doing all amd's have good performance and yes very affordable price but im not to sure u can make it a quad but the overclock should not be a problem for u just have good cpu cooling then your good to go :)

@AdventedCloud ohh calm down mister "i have made 0 videos" and stop spamming to a vid that has been made by a dude with almost 700 helpful and informative vids. Troll.
@assbacon1 yes,if you activate core unlocker by motherboard switch and it doesnt works, just turn it off,if you press 4, you will need to deactivate "advanced clock calibration" from bios (i done it and it worked like a charm)
@SilesiaHomoFans core unlocking is not an exact science. there is a chance you buy a Phenom ii x2 555 with fine extra cores, but there also is a chance (although quite smaller) the processor you bought has defective extra cores.
meaning you might have just bought a quad core cpu with two unlocked cores from factory, one healthy locked core and one locked defective core. it's just tough luck.
i have the 965 black edition, now, without core unlocker switched on , cpu-z already says i have 4 cores, if i switch on core unlocker ON...what would happen...?
No actually i'm not saying that. I say that if this CPU has hidden cores they will be unlocked. Not all CPU have hidden cores, AMD disabled on a few models some cores so they can sell it with a different price and so earn more money.
@JMVEntertainment not really, it unlocks the hidden cores that may be on the CPU but are not used. If there is a CPU with 8 cores then it could be possible. They sell you the CPU telling you it has 6 cores but there are 8 in fact. I supose it is because it is cheaper for them, so they don't need to design a new CPU with diferent structure and architecture.
Asus core unlocker is amazing! I not only was able to turn my quad-core into a penta-core but it even unlocked the 9th Chevron and allowed me to gate to the Destiny!
The time has come for Free energy to be revealed ,But the powerfull Oil business won't alow common ppl to know this,Find this technology at LT-MAGNET-MOTORdotCOM ,Big change is comming soon!
hey! i have teh same mobo and had the same problems at first when I was unlocking. However it would only black screen, eventually it did blue screen. :P so some progress?
wondering what bios you were using when you were unlocking it. i have the latest but it is rather funny. When the core locker is enabled, I can't even get into windows with 1 core enabled. However, when off, 2 cores work great, even at 4 ghz. Any ideas?
Well it worked with me from the very first time i switched the small stick down ,, but the funny thing is when i restarted it started giving me blue screens just like the one in this video ,, over ,, and over , and over .. i dont think it has to do with the boot settings you just made :/ you just got lucky maybe cuz iv done what you did and yet it still not working , , so i gota give up :D , , maybe you can help ? and if not ty for the vid and info awesome vid !!
important: im using Phenom IIx4 965 BE and i follow all the steps u thought here... and im sunig M4A88TD EVO USB3... which it allows 4cores to 6 cores.. but after i activate the switch n all 6 cores on! on the BIOS SETTING.. it didnt seem to work
@KHONObakayaro Well because you can't make six-core from quad-core. M4A8X MBs have support for six-cores that's what is written on them. You can't unlock cores that aren't physically in there.
hi.. i'm planning to get a AMD Phenom II X2 555 BE and was wondering will this work with this motherboard.. do u have to keep the core unlocker switch on to keep it unlock? thanks for the reply.. i'm a noob in pc hardware..
Hi I have the same processor and motherboard, which is on the vid, my problem is that when the four core unlocked and the system starts to load suddenly shows a blue screen:/ Can I do something about it?? PLZ help:D
I restarded my PC only a couple of weeks old, and the screen doesnt show any think my MemOK light is consently on I hold it down and the light doesnt go off it just keeps staying on flashing, I dont no weather its my mother board or my RAM had it set at 3.6Ghz CPU and my RAM on 1600Mhz.
@XDaniSC Dude I had the same problem, it turned out that I had a bad stick of RAM, replaced it and my pc works like a charm, hope my experience has help.
I bought a Phenom II X2 555 BE for $99 for my new desktop build. My motherboard also has a core unlock feature and took only 5 seconds in the BIOS to get my $99 CPU to become an amazing quad core.
@Poseidon500 Some athlon is also phenom2 processors with locked l3 cache. So if you manage to unlock that (and that it's not defective) then you'll have a phenom x4!!
@peso1000 I know. The Athlon II x3 440 is notorious for that. It may actually be the same thing as an Phenom x4 945, if your lucky. It;s only about $80 bucks as well.
However, this is beginning to become a rare thing to accomplish, since AMD now knows all about the issue. You would have a better chance if you got an older chip that has been in stock for a while. The Phenom II x2 550 is even better. About $110 dollars for a Phenom II X4 955 equivilant.
Is there the core unlock button on the Asus M5A78L-M/USB3 Motherboard ?

TheXtremeGamer90 1 year ago
would it increase temperature???
TheBigupz 1 year ago
if this happens to me, can i just press the button again to deactivate the fourth core?
assbacon1 1 year ago
@assbacon1 yes,if you activate core unlocker by motherboard switch and it doesnt works, just turn it off,if you press 4, you will need to deactivate "advanced clock calibration" from bios (i done it and it worked like a charm)

WHy i can unlock only 1 core in phenom II x2 555 black edition?
SilesiaHomoFans 1 year ago
@SilesiaHomoFans core unlocking is not an exact science. there is a chance you buy a Phenom ii x2 555 with fine extra cores, but there also is a chance (although quite smaller) the processor you bought has defective extra cores.
meaning you might have just bought a quad core cpu with two unlocked cores from factory, one healthy locked core and one locked defective core. it's just tough luck.
canihaveanyname 1 year ago
i have the 965 black edition, now, without core unlocker switched on , cpu-z already says i have 4 cores, if i switch on core unlocker ON...what would happen...?
georgekheiralla 1 year ago
@georgekheiralla If you had a 975 you could unlock 2 more cores.
Dant2142 1 year ago
No actually i'm not saying that. I say that if this CPU has hidden cores they will be unlocked. Not all CPU have hidden cores, AMD disabled on a few models some cores so they can sell it with a different price and so earn more money.
But not on all their models.
elpedomasgrande1 1 year ago
@elpedomasgrande1 that would of been sweet if amd would of had a 6 core that had 2 locked then that makes it 8 core! lol
JMVEntertainment 1 year ago
so i'm assuming if anyone buys a six-core cpu, that individual actually would have 8 cores
JMVEntertainment 1 year ago
@JMVEntertainment not really, it unlocks the hidden cores that may be on the CPU but are not used. If there is a CPU with 8 cores then it could be possible. They sell you the CPU telling you it has 6 cores but there are 8 in fact. I supose it is because it is cheaper for them, so they don't need to design a new CPU with diferent structure and architecture.
elpedomasgrande1 1 year ago
@elpedomasgrande1 so you're saying all phenom ii x6 cpu actually have 8 cores?!? i knew it!
JMVEntertainment 1 year ago
can i have that 980X on the shelf?
Ptro001 1 year ago
Asus core unlocker is amazing! I not only was able to turn my quad-core into a penta-core but it even unlocked the 9th Chevron and allowed me to gate to the Destiny!
fwupow 1 year ago
If you were to turn off the core unlocker switch would it just make your cpu go back to the original amount of cores?
NinjaMonkey125 1 year ago
@NinjaMonkey125 Yes, the core-unlocker doesn't actually "unlock" cores it just makes the remaining core visible to the rest of the hardware.
Dant2142 1 year ago
that was great..... the AAANNNNDD WE'RE BACK

that was amazing how you just figured it out there and then!
also, what is the price range of this board?
thanks :)

onedayillpay 1 year ago
@onedayillpay Yes, grab a hammer, slam it to pieces, and buy a 955/965, or a 1090T.

Removable boot disk was causing blue screens? WTF?
IckleBanana 1 year ago
You can try adding more voltage to make it stable.
I have successfully unlock a Sempron 140 to a Athlon II 4400E and it is stable.
Also tried successfully overclock to 3.4GHz without voltage boot.
I am using Gigabyte GA-MA790GP-D4SH

tiagom135 1 year ago
hey! i have teh same mobo and had the same problems at first when I was unlocking.
Any ideas?
roDinski584 1 year ago
Well it worked with me from the very first time i switched the small stick down ,, but the funny thing is when i restarted it started giving me blue screens just like the one in this video ,, over ,, and over , and over .. i dont think it has to do with the boot settings you just made :/ you just got lucky maybe cuz iv done what you did and yet it still not working , , so i gota give up :D , , maybe you can help ? and if not ty for the vid and info awesome vid !!

important: im using Phenom IIx4 965 BE and i follow all the steps u thought here... and im sunig M4A88TD EVO USB3... which it allows 4cores to 6 cores.. but after i activate the switch n all 6 cores on! on the BIOS SETTING.. it didnt seem to work
KHONObakayaro 1 year ago
@KHONObakayaro Well because you can't make six-core from quad-core. M4A8X MBs have support for six-cores that's what is written on them. You can't unlock cores that aren't physically in there.
Skeptik247 1 year ago 10
@KHONObakayaro 965s don't have cores to unlock only the new 970s

Does my mother board or RAM need replacing?

Revanchist8525 1 year ago
you know you're good when you can put a cpu in with one hand. ;p
MrTimbojim 1 year ago
I would not mind doing this with an Athlon II X3 440.
80 bucks for four cores. That would be sweet.
Poseidon500 1 year ago
@Poseidon500 Some athlon is also phenom2 processors with locked l3 cache. So if you manage to unlock that (and that it's not defective) then you'll have a phenom x4!!
peso1000 1 year ago
@peso1000 I know. The Athlon II x3 440 is notorious for that. It may actually be the same thing as an Phenom x4 945, if your lucky. It;s only about $80 bucks as well.
However, this is beginning to become a rare thing to accomplish, since AMD now knows all about the issue. You would have a better chance if you got an older chip that has been in stock for a while. The Phenom II x2 550 is even better. About $110 dollars for a Phenom II X4 955 equivilant.
