Having so much stick in 2011 about us winning a cup at wembley - where our good friends (claret Villa shite) were well beaten in 2010 and for us to be relegated is a good basis to build from.

I agree with Clough, there are so many journalists, TV pundits and radio broadcasters criticising players and referees. Everyone's an expert these days, even without kicking a football in the professional leagues. They should shut up and show more football! Fair play to his defence of refs too, refs do make mistakes but every single one of the 22 players make more mistakes in a game than the ref but the managers and players today will always blame the ref. Something needs to happen with this game, the world cup showed that.

Course he's seen it. He saw it at the same time as the ref and if he needs to see it again on TV to be sure, he shouldn't be criticizing the ref if he got it wrong.

Before the advent of Sky TV and round the clock coverage, most clubs would send one of the coaching staff to visit a match of the up and coming opposition a week or so before hand and a report would be given to the manager. Clubs in the lower leagues still do.

Although Cloughie did do things a bit differently!

A brilliant brilliant man, I have played football for 30 years (only 38 now) and played the game as fair as i could and i always belived that the man in black had the hardest job and Clough said it straight slow mo- revers e slo mo and you sometimes still don't know! the modern manager is a whining scab picking child with a mental age of 12 and yes that includes "sir" Alex how many times have you heard a manager say the ref is crap but then said "but i think i was mistaken in this decision????

A ref has a second to see, assess and make a decision. How many times do commentators / pundits say "Let's just see that again" then go on to berate the ref for not seeing what THEY didn't see first time.
