  • YES MA'AM!

  • Wow.

  • FUCK YEAH

  • js bach's reincarnation

  • show her in my youth in a disco in Scheveningen (The Hague, the Netherlands) and I love her as much I like Jimmy Smith which I saw in that time in Rotterdam.

Bought discs immediately of Jimmy as well of rhoda Scott and listen many times.

  • Some pretty lady. And good music too.

  • Essa mulher é fera... toca d+... observe o pé dela!

  • Great,,!*

  • ahhhh.... listen to 1:30 it sounds a bit like keith emerson (tarkus ) to me for some seconds. does anybody hear it this way too ? great hammond player Rhoda.

  • she was cute back in the day

  • Yes, I must agree with you, phigra97 my young jazz lover. She is an awesome organist and I've known plenty of female organist who would run circles around many of male B3 organists myself included.

  • I am a boy who is nearly 14 years old. I love jazz and think it is the coolest thing in the world. This lady makes me swing and dance and she is just so cool! It's especially cool at 1:52 because I've never heard or seen another B-3 organist do that before. In my oppinion I think that she is better that Jimmy McGriff.

  • I found this video to be the surprise of my life. This is Rhoda's great 1972 performance on national TV in Budapest, Hungary, of which program I happened to be the musical director. I still cherish a small card with her picture and a personal thank you note for the good sound. She was and still is an amazing musician!

  • And they said only men could smoke the Hammond B-3.

  • ....King cool!

  • Wow...

LOL that guy at the end with the mic. If you could somehow edit the clip so that he had a knife in his hand instead of the mic that would be funny.

  • THANK YOU !!!

  • やっぱりいいです

  • Sounds strangely like Medeski, Martin and Wood! Amazing! I am ashamed that I have never heard of her!

  • c'est grandiose

  • Love it. Mucho. All these people saying she looks like alicia...? Pffffft. Maybe the other way around since, you know, Rhoda was way ahead of her... Alicia's the watered down version in this equation...

  • The same passion and joy of playing as Esperanza Spalding now !

  • Loving the polyester look!

  • OMG...she is great! And she is having so much fun in it...fuckin great

  • Classy piece if you ask me!!!

  • awesome player and nice girl even

  • Speechlessssssssss..............

  • This is fucking good.

  • Alicia ? ... Alicia Keys ? You're just kidding ?

  • @tehtube, alicia looks like rhoda, rhoda looks like alicia, they look alike is what i meant

  • is it me, or doesn't she look remarkably like Alicia Keys?

  • Alicia remarkably like young Rhoda?

  • @Tgarland84, It's just you.

  • @Tgarland84 She only 'looks' like Alicia.

  • I love how much she enjoys it!!!

  • With this name she should play 'Rhodes' !!! :D

  • The revolution used to be televised. God I will always love that soulful sound of the B3 played by gifted folk like Rhoda. Rare to see shots of the feet at work on those pedals. SO sweet thanks

  • WHOOAA!!!!!!! Feet in those hose pumpin' them pedals and clawin' at them keys. This is somethin' to get lost in. HOT HOT HOT HOT HOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PURE GENIUS. Nothin' like it out there now. Maybe people are praising this because today's children have lost the spirit to make real music and couldn't do it like this if they tried. This is talent and FIERCE.

  • wow i'm deeply impressed!

  • Simply amazing, its rare to find any fluent organ musician with this much control over the instrument, especially the bass pedals. This has to be one of the best renditions of the song I've ever heard and it has no dull moments, I could listen to this all day.

  • hot?

  • Maybe she never moaned? But this is awful!

  • She's also cuter than the Jimmy's.

  • She Rocks!!!

  • I am like most of you, I never heard of Rhoda till now. I saw her perform with Barbara a few moments ago. She's hell of the foot pedals.

  • Wow!

  • Wow, she was just a kid back then.........just as good. Thanks for the sounds Rho......luv ya.

  • Son 2 y parecen 10 en esena

  • @ TheLarryBrown: She is not 'foot-syncing'. Despite there being no bass player on this performance, or almost any of Scott's recordings for that matter, her fleet pedal work makes the absence a non-issue. Have another look as it's probably that you are just not used to seeing such pedal work style.

  • Muitttoooooooooo Bommmmmmmmmm !

    Ulisses

  • Damn! This is killer! Do i hear a little Jon Lord in here?

  • És megvan a Hofi-féle Rhoda Scott videó is? :))

  • incredible!! she plays the bass line with her left foot!!

  • OMG. That was terrific. I'm scared!

  • why cant today music be like this?

  • Rhoda Scott are active artist. See below 1 week ago.

  • @siddepoo Because of the cursed introduction of digital computing into what were formerly musical instruments. Now these machines are available to any one-finger tyro. Ironically, one of these flagship boxes is the Yamaha "Tyros"... appropriately named. Obviously, the japs didn't catch the irony.

  • @siddepoo

oh pleasee it's fucking awesome but stop that nostalgia stuff it's driving me crazy

if you wanna rock like they did just do it!!!! make music!!

  • @siddepoo j'ai la meme reflexion

  • @siddepoo IT CAN BE. IT IS, just not on mainstream. You would not believe the scene that's

happening. We just are not televised. Inspire your mind, buy a Hammond today! well,

that's a bit of a challenge..but buy any NON VIRTUAL NON VIDEO GAME INSTRUMENT and LEARN THAT SUCKER put your SOUL into it, BE LIKE RHODA, JIMMY AND FRANK DIY DIY DIY no pROGRAMMING peace happy winters solstices from west coast canada!

  • good question

  • @siddepoo It is if you look in the right places. TheToneWheels and Simon Allen are on a mission to make it accessible once again! Videos will be uploaded soon of new original material and covers

  • @siddepoo why can't people like you stfu and understand that shitload of people today still make this kind of music?

  • @AnerStroz im sure many still do but i dont see any got recognize for it like in the past... stuff like 50cents singing about sluts sucking on his lollipop, hannah montana singing about her 16 year old self getting her slut on at the party, or britney spear well what ever are all over the tv and radio while refined music like jazz or good old rock and roll are slowly drifting off the scene. maybe people like you who are the one who should stfu and be less insulting to other people's opinion.

  • @siddepoo i'm sorry for being impolsive. you right. just that i heard people talking exactly like you so many times,it's annoying already. i just don't listen to the radio,i don't watch MTV, and i can listen to everything. as much as i enjoy listening(and playing!) jazz, bebop, blues and fusion,i also enjoy alot of other styles, among them also pop,i find alot of intersting things in pop..i think lady gaga is a genius, just like charles mingus is.

but i understand if you wanna kill me now.

  • @AnerStroz nah man you're alright. everybody have their opinion in things and once we get to clarify ourselves we understand each other. it is good to know that there're still good people who appreciate such refined music like this out there. peace

  • @AnerStroz Lady Gaga is a genius just like Charles Mingus. Wow...you will go to hell do you know that? You'll be that guy in human history that everybody hates, oh lord gimme strength

  • @DajaWaja i did not say say thier in the same level of geniusism(?), but they are, both geniuses in thier own fields. also, chillex yo.

  • @AnerStroz mmm look, if you say lady gaga is a genius you have a problem of perception, so please get it fixed

  • @DajaWaja nope. all i have is a problem of 'being-an-open-minded-person". and that's not a real problem.

if you wouldn't judge her from the beggining( which btw, i also did at first, only with time i learnd to think otherwise), you'll see she got alot of great things in her production, new and progressive stuff. anyway! of course charles is a bigger legend and a forever will be a better musician, but really, be open minded man! try to learn from things you thought were stupid. it's always good.

  • @AnerStroz I insist saying lady gaga's music is something good is a perverted obscene thought. Also justin bieber is the greatest composer/arranger/instrumentalist of all times, isn't he?? We all gonna go to

    hell now!!!!

  • @DajaWaja i did not say anything about justin bieber and you cannot compare the 2. lady gaga have graduated from Juliard, i bet she played shitload of classical music during her life, also, before she became this huge pop star, she was a sort of jazz pianist- singer-songwriter, you may serach it up in youtube. it's pretty good. justin bieber in the other hand, is a little boy with alot of luck. but he IS one ot the most famous people on earth today, so gotta give him that.

  • @AnerStroz that is the stupidest shit ever, she went to juilliard? She declined it... Fucking gonna tell me she went to juilliard you lier. If juilliard produces such musicians they should burn that place up!

  • @DajaWaja i don't know why i'm bothering to even argue with you, enjoy being a small person and living in your small world with you childish opinions. cya

  • @AnerStroz pppppfffffff Enjoy your life overusing the word ''genius'' for people that have a fart instead of a brain

  • @AnerStroz Don't feed the troll, bro ;)

  • WOW! Now I've listened to Jimmy Smith and Jimmy Mcgriff and they are both awesome B3 masters. But why haven't I heard of Rhonda Scott before now. She is extremely awesome on the organ and I will be on the look out for any of her recordings if any are available. She has a new fan.

  • Yesterday i worked with her :-)

  • @tehtube You lucky bastard. What a gem. My grandmother played like that; she worked for Hammond from about 1957 until Hammond closed its franchise here in the early 1980s. She taught hundreds of people to play, including me. But I didn't get all the genes, because I can't play like that.

  • @directorofmusc while you're at it, check out Dr. Lonnie Smith and Robert Walter; both still recording.

  • @directorofmusc check out barbara dennerlein also.

  • Well I know I'm going to get skewered for this, but I think she's "foot syncing." What I see in her feet and what I hear in the bass are not the same. I see her playing bass with the left hand. In one close up of her feet she isn't even hitting the pedals, just bouncing along with the tempo. When she does hit the pedals (in the same closeup), she's hitting repeated bass notes while I hear a walking bass. She's playing bass w/the left hand and filling in on the feet when left hand has to comp.

  • Reinventing the meaning of the word walking bass line

  • Could go on and listen and watch this all night...but what's with (incidental question) the Hammond cabinet? Looks like a B from the front but looks like a C from the Right shoulder..? I've always been a fan of Leslie-slow and fast but this makes me wanna unplug my slow motors and just play fast and off. She's really good. Really good. Great post.

  • It's a C without the cover (or a CV) and she cut the front panel so that you can see her feet. I also noticed that she has the leslie switch on the side. But it's so amazing how she can do this with one instrument. I've attempted but I guess I'm not made for doing such things.

  • You are right, since I looked at it again. After all, I think her nickname IS "happy feet." Funny she's been around for that long and I just recently heard of her. And that leslie switch....never seen one located there either. Odd, isn't it. I watched Jimmy Smith's vid and I enjoyed her's more. Thanks for the info.

  • pretty woman.

    That it Swing??ß

  • Rhoda is so funky. There is so much great organ duo or trio stuff out there. Rhoda really has this style nailed. Check out that DIY Leslie switch.

  • She moans awfully fast, going against both atmosphere and text of the song.

  • There is no text; it is an instrumental. Also, it isn't a song; there is no singing.

  • The B3 is the funkiest instrument. There is nothing like it to hear a master playing one live. There is a sound that comes through the floor and and the air that makes your body feel good, your soul open up and the little hairs on the back of your neck stand up.

  • first female i've seen play any time of real jazz... and shes cute!

  • Look up Barbara Dennerlein

  • vibrato control is unusual....iv never seen one like that

  • go on with your bad self!

  • Wow just amazing!!!

  • yeah. wow. I gotta save this.

  • Play Soul Sista play

  • Can't believe that the B3 and players like this have gone the way of the dinosaur.

  • there are still alot of players in my town and my town is very small

  • ¡Qué se puede decir!, a escuchar y a alucinar, no que otra...

  • Never heard of her, but she sounds great. Very well constructed solos. Fun to listen to.

I'm impressed by anyone who can make "moanin" sound happy.

  • fantastic!

  • "Dance on dem pedal sista"!

  • half of the leslie's not spinning....But who needs it when you sound this good.

  • Wow!!! Why am I just finding out about this incredible organist?! Outstanding.

  • She moved to France way back in 1967 and has spent much of her career there - as a result, she didn't ever receive the recognition she deserves in the USA.

  • Great!!Nice Beat Beats Me!!!!

  • Just saw her tonight in San Jose. She was AWESOME!! She absolutely brought the house down. What an amazing talent and presence... I feel ashamed for not having heard of her before. Go hear her at the Razz Room in San Francisco tomorrow night or the next (8/21 or 8/22).

  • Wow, I just received this link from a friend. I feel embarassed not knowing about her. Very talented person !

  • Amazing woman. She was cute in those days.

Now I know why Arthur Rubinstein decided to listen jazz.

  • chi bedda! :-)

  • Like Flinstones :D

  • in a hurry? loose some details. still very good

  • You really must be a mad music man!Do you even listen to JImmy Smith at all??The man is an incredibly deep musician and full of soul!!He's also technically very advanced!!Rhoda is a brilliant musician indeed, but there's no need to talk down a master like Jimmy Smith just to make that point!!!Just because you can't comprehend Jimmy's depth doesn't mean he's not a master!!!You could comment without calling his name at all!I had to respond to that!

  • legende

  • why is the fuckin crowd swinging like fuckin hell.. i can't sit still while hearing this^^ wow!

  • All square white folks, thas wy

  • What a nice surprise!

    This girl is fantastic!!!

    ...see our fantastic videos too!

  • Nice! I like Check out Billy Holloman and Jack Mcduff too for more Hammond.

  • I ear that when I was 10 !

My passion stay unchanged ! I love Hammond organ

  • this is great

  • I really like this, but the one speed leslie is awful. I have got to have chorale speed, otherwise you might as well play through a Tone Cabniet.

  • lovely!!! To see art again! and again....bring it onnnnn

  • FANTASTIC!!!!

  • Absolutely Great..!!!

  • a la vez hermoso y bestial

  • too fast imo

  • Beautiful music.

  • HAMMOND !! helemaal te gek ! Rhoda uiteraard ook !

  • She's! Great!!! what a power! jaZZ!!

  • I wish I had a chopped C3 like that...

  • sublime cette rhoda scott !!!!!!!!

  • supercool!

  • TIG OL BITTIES!!

  • Venez découvrir Rhoda Scott à Jazz en Mars à Tarnos (Landes) le 06 Mars 2009

  • Those bare feet are too sexy.

  • she is too good

  • vraiment la meilleur je ne me lasse pas de l'écouter

  • i like this video...on several levels

  • luv how that those tits are justa shakin lol!

  • NICE AND EASY :)

  • Right around the 1:38 mark really invokes that early 70's vibe.Definitely "stirs up a few ghosts" for me.

  • So amazing.

  • C'et elle qui sait le mieux transmettre l' ame de Jimmy !!!

  • she is a beast on the organ i love it

  • Wow!! Love this lady, you know she's lovin it, throws herself into it, givs the whole sound body and soul, although i think it would have sounded better with a two speed Leslie, the sound from a stationary Leslie sounds like a toy organ/Vox Continental... but thats just me i suppose lol. Funny, i find it easier to play bass like that, and better than playing bass with left hand, i get all out of sink, cant `heel-toe' though, both feet, and with shoes on LOL. You go Rhoda, you kick ass! X

  • That's gotta'be the funkiest shit I've ever heard! I love it:D

  • I saw her this year in Villebon sur Yvette (I know that Villebon is a very famous village in France:-).

Rhoda is a great musician and a great person.

  • coooooool!!!!!!

  • look at her feet!

    Suave.

  • the best ... I LOVED SO MUCH..

    RESPECT

  • She is a real super great genius.

  • uh.. see Ethel Smith b4 throwing G word about

    This is O.K.

  • Yeah right. I couldn't care less about Smith. Rhoda plays circles around her. I couldn't care less about the stupid little crazy things Smith plays, Rhoda plays real, souful music!

  • and on top of that shes cute

  • she is like around 50 now :):)

  • Unbelievable!

    perfect sound!

    my favorite video!

  • I don't know if Rhoda checks this post BUT...this is my favorite youtube clip EVER. She shreds some serious swing jazz.

  • What's with the catatonic audience? I can't sit still watching this great video!!

  • ♫♫♫♫♫

  • vixiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii

    =P

  • I used to play organ when i was a kid and now i see why is Rhoda barefooted...try too hit those pedals with your shoes on and you'll see how harder it is, lol...sometimes my sandals used to get stuck between the pedals...i never tried to play barefooted but it must be something else...i wish i could play like Rhoda...she´s simply amazing.

  • Was there a leslie cabinet there? Couldnt tell. I loved the old mechanical leslies. You not only heard them, you could feel the air pressure coming off the rotating speakers. A sound not matched by any electonic subsitute, if you were on the bandstand with a B3. Played in band at one time ( I play bass) with B3. Think I would have played for free just for the experience. Well maybe not. Needed the money. By the way, Rhoda Rocks.

  • Yes, she had leslie (watch in 1st, 2nd min) one speed: stop/tremolo. Maybe type 22H

  • you can also see it at 0.46. man she sure can play that hammond

  • No doubt,,, She is the Barefoot Queen of the Hammond Organ! Love It!!!!!!!!!!

  • Rhoda's my shero!

  • She's cookin'! I love that instrument!

  • what can i say : just watch and enjoy.

  • yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • tocas con madre chido saludos rhoda desde mexico

  • I love you Rhonda!!!!!!!

The beast cry under your fingers :-))))))

    A kiss for you.

  • ez a nő egy ISTENNŐ!!!!!!!!!
