  • This show also taught me about interracial dating. My parents wouldn't let me watch it because a girl was dating a black man.

  • they send Ginger to the counsellor but not Noelle ?

  • God, I miss shows like this. This is about normal kids and nomral everyday problems. I really miss this show. I watched it all the time growing up and now that I'm in high school, wish it would have come out in my teens.

I went through a lot of the same stuff as Ginger, even to the point of her writing. I've been accused of being depressed because of mine like Ginger here.

I really, really, miss good tv shows. Now everything has gone right to hell.

  • Back when Nick (CN/ Disney too) was good.

  • This is my favorite episode of Ginger! :D

  • Why is using a typewriter? This show isn't THAT old. Is it?

  • @alanadavis32 i dunno but they say a writers best stories come from when they use a typewriter

  • @alanadavis32 The show came out in 2000 and lasted a good few years. Seeing as in the early 2000's personal home computers were bulky with limited things you could do on them even on a good computer. Most likely it wasn't an issue in the show. They rarely even use computers. Also in the early 2000's mostly adults had the computers and even they only bought them if it was for work. The laptops that first came out were as huge as the first cellphones!

  • The girl attached to the string reminds me of the grudge and the ring if they had a baby

  • I LOVE Ginger's poem. Normally end-rhymes irritate me but hers were so pretty! And I also like how the story of the poem reflects the episode. Cool cartoon :)

  • Sooooo many memories! :D I remember when this show came out!

  • Macy = Chuckie's older sister.

  • @RAWRitsandi OMG YES!!

  • um why is carl's teacher still alive this is weird and creepy '_‛

  • As I told by Ginger

  • My english teacher said that by law in my state 8th grade teachers have to report all stories that are "concerning" to guidance..... some kids write disturbing stuff just to get sent there... like my friend... his story gave me nightmares

  • Noelle and Carl= Match made in heaven ^_^

  • i know how ginger feels my teacher made me counselor after she read my story we had to write for my English class

  • I love as told by ginger shes a normal girl with normal problems she doesnt own a web show, shes not the vp of a fashion studio, or goes to a school for the arts shes normal and i miss shows like this

  • Yeah, it seems everyone at some point wrote a sad or weird story, i remember writing about a guy who couldn't leave his room, because there was a cat outside and he thought the cat was evil and wanted to kill him, anyway at the end the guy was insane, he killed himself to avoid the cat killing him and i got sent to the counselor, didn't wrote again for years, even though it was my passion,

  • Yeah my teacher did that to me once my pome is

The sunshine but i see dark danger fighting never stop."

I mean like is that so dark?

  • Why is Ms. Gordon alive?

  • @bandgeek20 This episode was supposed to be before she died

  • @fantasyfiction101 that doesn't make this any less unnerving

  • I was always scared to turn in my personal poems in middle school for the reason that people might think it's too sad, but the teachers always liked my work amd I even got one if my poems chosen to be published in a local book. Point of story: don't be afraid to express yourself honestly.

  • @jalapeno1119 Girl follow your dreams turn in your pome fuck those teachers

  • My favorite episode. Such an amazing deep poem and I'm sure many teens wrote something 'dark' had similar reactions from teachers or classmates. I know I did! *sigh

And also love this cause Noel! I LOVE her, so strange.

  • this is pretty realistic for a cartoon

  • i wrote a similar poem, it was called the bat and the dove. basicaly it was about a woman who had just died and while she was sitting in her grave a dove and a bat tried to sway her to go to heaven or hell. if she went to heaven, it would be peacful but get boreing really quick. if she went to hell, she could cut lose and have more fun but she'd be condemed to torture for eternity. in the end she chooses to just hang in her grave till she could reach a decision, not like she was going anywhere.

  • a few got the joke of the poem, the rest of the school thought i actualy wanted to go to hell, missing the entire point of the poem.

  • This is so funny because my friend wrote a really weird poem about death and hell and she lost it and her civics teacher found it and gave it to the school counselor and she thought my friend was suicidal. Lol, she only wrote it because she was bored, sheesh!

  • When you weren't a stalker for having random kid's pictures in your clubhouse

  • Mrs. Gordon died on episode 37 ?

  • I thought Gordo died in a previous episode?? How come she's alive now?

  • @oomooj Because the woman who did Gordon's voice died mid recording sessions, it kind of screwed up the end of this season. This episode actually was released as a special, but technically it was the 36th episode and the episode Gordon died was 39th. But on the DVD's this episode was listed as #40 why? I don't know.

  • @BittyChibi13 please don't commit suicide! Love.

  • i love this show

  • Wait I thought Gordo was dead ._.

  • .....the exact reason i never write for school...the accuse you of having a mental illness (lol)

  • What the hell is this?! Didnt carl's teacher die?! ;s poor poor story wrighting man for shame ;/...

  • Who the hell hit the "dislike" button?

  • huh didn't miss gordon die??

  • ugh that teacher is bitch..i hate her

  • WAIT 1 SEC!!!! I thought carl's teacher died! why is she here??????

  • @qwame100 The actress that did the voice work for Mrs. Gordon (Carl's teacher) passed away after having done her voice work for this particular episode. I think the episodes were produced out of order, if I'm remembering correctly.

  • @qwame100 The woman who played the voice dies in 2001 but these episodes all aired in 2002/2003. Cartoons are all made well before they are aired.. It takes up to 6 months to make 1 episode. So this was probably finished and voiced before she died... And they had the line up set so they couldn't change it. but actually on wiki it says this episode aired well before the death episode. this one was nov 2002 where as gordo dying was aired june 1 2003

  • @angelmae3995 makes sense. thx

  • WAIT 1 SEC!!!! I thought carl's teacher died! why is she here??????

  • some of the songs on this thing sound epic :D

  • As much as I am annoyed by the teacher in this episode (she really should know what Ginger is like by this point, and should have asked her instead if anything was wrong, call her mom to get an opinion, observe, then recommend she see the counselor before sending her down, imo), I can understand where she's coming from. I guess it's better the teacher look out for her from the beginning, then have her ignore "troubling" feelings if there really was a problem.

  • no doodie

    u not very interesting

ginger doesn't want to write about u -_-

  • I thought the teacher had passed in an earlier episode, am I wrong?

  • @PrincessJasmin225 Yeah she did.. Maybe they were made out of order or put up here out of order.

  • you are actually my favorite person EVER for uploading this....

seriously i will probably just re watch all the episodes :)

  • I never got teachers like that. . . o.O

  • Perfect way to end the clip:

Courtney: Poor dear, I didn't know you were suffering.

    Ginger: What?!

  • I had a teacher who enjoyed things like this. He didn't question our mental health whenever we thought up material that was either violent, mature, or dark. Unfortunately, after leaving his class, I'm scared to share some of my work for fear that I would be examined like Ginger.

  • Geeze, I get how they would think this is about Ginger but really? Did they lock JK Rowling up in an asylum for killing off dumbledoore?(sp)

  • Honestly this episode frightened me when I was little, but at the same time it was my favorite episode. I can remember it so vividly as I'm watching it for the first time in years.

  • that teacher is a bitch doesn't she know ginger is a writer and everybody loves her why would she go crazy all of a sudden

  • @shaboopie12 Well she's a teacher. and cares for her students' well being.

  • I never liked Dodie.

  • @apllebottom4 Me neither.

  • I thought their teacher died????

  • @luvinjc89 I'm pretty sure that was Carl Foutley's teacher.

  • @luvinjc89 If you did mean her, then yes, she did die but later in the series.

  • 1.Macie's glasses look like Chuckie's from Rugrats.

2.This is one of my 2 FAVORITE episodes(the other is when brandon has a mental breakdown)

3.THANK YOU for posting my childhood :')

  • @MudkidMudslap nice eye, and maybe in some nice alternate universe chuckie all growed up could fall in love with macie.

  • Noel's funny :D

  • Thanks for posting!

  • I always wanted a clubhouse like carls...

  • @iannerd97 me 2! :D

  • This is my absolute favorite episode. That poem was amazing!

  • when i was younger, i would just watch this and become easily entertained. and the older i've gotten, the more i understand the message behind the episodes.

  • "No one likes a suck-up Brandon" I love Gordo.

  • Reminds me of The Raven

  • Ginger's been reading Poe and Sylvia Plath.

  • @iroc31407 poe is more depressing...

  • @nikki4tes i agree....nevermore

  • That show has a plot like how you people say this show has one. I agree iCarly is shit but its no way like wowp. We like our shows more cuz they made US laugh so whats good for us is what is good for the new kids? Think. 3) I hate teachers like Z who overreact when people make deppressing stuff. I drew a pic for the most dangerous game as a project and i was called in to the office for drawing a graphic pic. I used to be one of the most chipper people at school. I was mad.

  • 1)this show is frm 00s not the 90s. 2)stop hating on spongebob & wowp. I like wowp. We hatin hate the new shows. When the kids of now grow up they will look back at the shows they watch now and think theyre good. We cant be biased and say our shows are better. Its not fair. Notice we dont say the other classics like scooby doo, josie & da p.cats, Tom & J etc. Only 90s Tv. It proves we are being selfish and forcing our views on the kids. Tv now isnt all bad. I love my 90s Tv, but i like ben 10.

  • That is a pretty good poem.

  • I guess Im Lucky since ATBG still comes at my T.V

  • sometimes, i feel, that if you tell a kid that they wrote something that needs a PSYCHOLOGIST'S attention, you're indirectly telling them they're messed up in the head. this is definitely a detriment, especially if you know the kid well (in ms. zorski's case with ginger). it makes the kid feel terrible about him/herself, creating the feelings that you THOUGHT you originally sensed. a catch 22, it would seem.

  • @abridgedfan107 A lot of people cause teens to feel bad about themselves in this way. Being "concerned" about a kid just because they wrote something dark makes them feel like there IS something wrong when there isnt.

  • Didn't Ms.Gordon die??? I love ATBG but I hate contradictions >:/

  • @TheFutileSearch Yes, but the original air date for this episode was November 2002. The episode where Ms. Gordon dies had an original air date of June 2003. So, yes, they did get the episodes out of order but they recorded this episode before she died.

  • this and a lesson in tightropes are my fav epi's

  • I don't blame Ginger for being confused. Lol. She's obviously not depressed. The teacher is stupid.

  • This was my favourite episode. I love the poem and how everyone thinks Ginger is all depressed, over-reacting when it was just a poem. I love the bits with Carl, Hoodsie and Noel.

  • DIDNT THE TEACHER DIE?

  • @andiarcoiris333 Yes, but obviously not in this episode. It happens in a later episode. She was originally supposed to just retire but the voice actress passed away in real life so they rewrote the script to have Gordo pass away on the show.

  • @andiarcoiris333 thats later in the series

  • Uh... I thought she died lol. the teacher i mean.

  • This is a great episode. I can so relate. I don't know how many time's I've writting something for creative writing class and teacher found it 'troubling'. I've pretty much given up on writing my really good things for her class, though I still write it outside of it.

People need to realize that it's only writing. Not a reason to accuse that person of being a head case!

  • @MedievalPlease What's wrong with writing being disturbing or troubling? If you're writing something like that, it's because that's what you want to say to the world.

  • @MedievalPlease

So did I. Although I was in Catholic School, so my teacher wasn't accepting of "racy" content. One time I wrote a story that was set during the Salem Witch Trials, and it wasn't the death, religious predijuce, or the few cuss words in it that "concerned" him... it was because my male protragonist admitted to his love interest that he doesn't bellieve in religion, that had him pull me aside.

  • @MedievalPlease well i gave something to my teacher at the end of the year (this school year) and she didnt even say "thank you" and my friend had to type it for me since i didnt have a printer

  • @MedievalPlease

Very true. Anyway even if the person is troubled, writing it out as a poem or a story is a great way to let it out :)

  • @MedievalPlease People have committed suicide because their work wasn't understood and was brushed off. I would know, I thought about committing suicide, so I wrote how I felt...too bad someone found it....I'm still here.

  • @MedievalPlease ikr think about Edgar Allan Poe... thats what the raven is for in the beginning

  • @xXxHollyleafxXx what do u mean

  • @MedievalPlease Writing does stem from a personal context though (but everyone has a reason to be depressed =\) I think Ginger was writing about a dilemma. She's the "different one". That's why Courtneigh doesn't allow her access her clique and so she might feel abit alienated.

  • @MedievalPlease I remember losing a writing contest because the judge/teacher felt the piece to be "too sad". Still pisses me off. I think a story about a happy dancing cat won.

  • This was my favorite episode of my favorite show...sadly when this show came out I was only 3 :( I just remember a little bit of it but I'm glad I get to watch it now :) Thx for uploading

  • is she using the typewriter for fun? or do they not have computers? even possible? lol

  • @godloverbrit computers weren't popular when As Told By Ginger was on air. Especially with kids.

  • Dear any one who wants to be a teacher,

If your students writes something that "worries you" Try actually talking to them....ya know...like a person....not like a head case. You'd be surprised how it helps more then being forced into a small room with some therapist.

  • This was my absolute favourite episode. It inspired me. So glad I found this.

  • can anyone tell me what the poem structure is that ginger used?

    so inspiring

  • To all the True Poets...

  • The puppet girl looks like Michael Jackson lol

  • Ginger looks hot in her pajamas

  • Hold on a minute! Wasn't Ms. Gorden dead?!?!?!?!

  • This was my favorite episode of Ginger, next to Far from home. This episode inspired me to write short poems when I was younger. Those poems are long gone, as this show, but I look back with nostalgia.

  • This episode made me write poetry and short stories. I definitely needed to see it again.

  • @JulyTwilightFan Um, No icarly and wizards of waverly place are in the same generatino .. and made around the SAME time. so whatever she said does NOT make ANY not none sense! :)

  • such a good episode:)

  • That old classroom teacher looks like Mrs Fowler from Jimmy Neutron and the other black teacher looks like Susie carmichaels mom.

  • Teehee I am kind of addictied 2 this even tho it's for likke 7 yer olds!

  • Mrs...Mrs. Gordon's still alive?! :O

  • Thanks :)

  • O_O.........Um this poem reminds me of me slightly the puppet strings remind me of how I try so despretly to be someone else.

  • Did he say Reagan Youth?

  • that girl carl is spying on is a creeper !!!!!! hahahahaah

  • dodie always came up with the most stupidest suggestions.

  • Im speechless

  • I find it funny how Dodie said she got stitches in her chin, since most every girl in the show has no chin except maybe Miranda.

  • Mrs. Z pisses me off in this ep.

  • 6:20 - 7:20 you know, my english teacher doesnt believe in sending students off to be evaluated after they write disturbing pieces. its becuz of exactly what ginger said, its creative writing, fictional.

  • I always knew Dodie was super selfish but the whole "write your poem about me" was just too much. I HATE HER more than any other character of any show ever created.

  • I talk to myself just like her lol....man I loved this show! :)

  • I remember writing peoms in junior high, and I still do even thow I'm a junior, I still love to write and draw it's fun. I luv this show but I cnt beleive they cancel it and I'm very surprise dat spongebob is still on. Lol XD

  • @victoriak93 the reason as told by ginger is cancelled and sponge bob isn't is because sponge bob has no real plot just mindless comedy so its easier to write episodes for sponge bob than as told by ginger its more of a story based show

  • i saw these in arabic and omg in it original language it is just soooo funny how everything is <3

  • oooohhhh carl's in LOVE! <333

  • "no one likes a suck up brandon"

    "duely noted"

can you say SUCK UP! :D lmfao! (:

  • 2:08 why do they look related?

  • Uhhh I love Ginger's poem so much because, I'm the girl in the poem. Everyday I wish I can break free from these puppet strings and just fly away. :(

  • Isn't Ms. Gordon Dead! Wtf?

  • @GanstaBoi06 OMG your right! This has to be a mstake lol

  • @GanstaBoi06 OMG your right! This has to be a mistake lol

  • @GanstaBoi06 This is an episode before she died.Only on late eppisode after this she does

  • dodie's fucking annoying! i hate her.

  • one of the best cartoons ever. each episode had a point and taught everyone a new lesson. it was so well thought out. and now all the cartoons today are so pointless and teach you nothing. im happy i got to see shows like this before it all went to hell.

  • Why is it that every time Ginger talks to herself, someone is standing right behind her? lol. I'd feeel embarrassed if that happened to me!

  • this is and "lesson in tight ropes" is the BEST eps. of Ginger

  • @hrjert1 those two episodes make me cry EVERYTIME! Spongebob goes on for one million seasons and this goes off the air. SMH

  • I always hated how Maci was so stereotypical and I hated her voice.

  • I agree with everyone who says todays shows are crap.. yes sadly they are.

As told by ginger was one of the best and Ginger is such a great writer.

  • this episode reminds me of a quote by David Foster Wallace," a good piece of fiction is supposed to disturb the comfortable and comfort the disturbed"

  • @mistressmystery022 OH MY GOD!!! that is the most awesome thing i have ever read THANK YOU!!!!

  • @mistressmystery022 Never heard that. I like it for some reason!

  • "maybe it should be about me" dodie's so self centered she would say something like that.

  • I love that poem! Why aren't there any shows like this anymore????

  • isnt Mrs. Gordon supposed to be dead??

  • i dont like dodie :/

  • her poem is AWESOME

  • This is my favorite episode. <3

  • The best cartoons came from the 90's. Period.

  • love the poem.

    LOVE!

  • the obsessive hand washer guy is lor from the weekenders voice :)

  • This type of cartoon is rare: It's not stupid!

  • miss this so much

  • Didn't Gordo die?

  • Wow this was one of my favorite episodes! I loved the way the poem is interated from Ginger's view. WE REALLY NEED CARTOONS LIKE THIS AGAIN!! We'll it was good, while it lasted, but we need more.

  • my fave episode ^^
