You got that right. Sometimes (and this is like, 5% of the time) sometimes the people complaining on facebook are being mistreated. But with THIS, when I have a daughter, and she does something cose to what Vanessa did, I would act the same way Claire did. Hopefully mine won't be so stupid as to say "but I would like my punishment before I go to bed" My husband wouldn't catch me in time to save the kid, lol.
And remember...right after this, Vanessa and the SAME group of friends get drunk (The Drinking Game)...and while Vanessa is in her FIRST year of college, she proceeds to get herself engaged.

The fact that Vanessa *asked* for a punishment (i.e. thinking she was gonna get grounded) shows that she didn't learn a DAMN thing. Never mess with Claire Huxtable.

Remember, Vanessa got drunk, Vanessa broke curfew to be with her boyfriend, got Rudy to lie for her, and then, there was this episode. Not even screwup Denise was this bad (remember Denise was a virgin on her wedding night), and Sandra was too dull to be bad.
@JeddaGB Don't forget when Sondra told her parents she wasn't going to law school so she and Elvin could open a wilderness store. That was a great Claire anger episode too.

Ok I could be wrong but does it look like Clair is wiping away tears at 1:36 you even see a little tear water at 1:40. God I need to be studying my notes instead of the cosby show!

exactly, if this were any other show claire would've been blubbering about how happy she was that vanessa was safe. the cosbys were the best TV parents ever

Bill Cosby once said that most family sitcoms up until this show had been about the children, but The Cosby Show was about "the parents." He was right! He stated that he wanted to produce a show about loving parents who were the bosses in their households. He succeeded.

this isnt acting. this really happens in black families that discipline their children accordingly to teach responsibility and to keep out of the court system as to how the white boy would want to be. im 31, 5'7 a 15 y/o son whom is 5'10 and you best believe he knows not to cross me... if he ever tried he knows he will be picking up teeth. now call the police.

physicia rashad was definitely the funny char on the show because she was so real
this is a prime example of how a person like clair would act after this type of problem

She was going to give Vanessa a big beat down....I love this episode because it was so REAL!...You never saw her ever get that angry. It was like you were scared you were going to get hit by your mom when you did something bad....that was some good ass acting

Imagine for a second after the scene was over and the director said "CUT!". How interesting and funny that must have been to have been there in that audience to see the actors acting normally after that amount of tension
