i like my Denon DNX-120... its a mini 2 channel battle mixer, *kinda looks like a cracker box*, but in my opinion its really durable and really easy to use... i dropped it 3 times and it still works like brand new!
whats up brain this dj mike. i have a numark cn200 mixer its 5 channels i'm pretty u heard of it. i had this mixer for two years and it still works great. i want to get the new american audio q-spandmkll. would recommad this mixer because i want to drop a channel from what i using now? i'm using 2 tabletop cdj and 1 stanton turntable as a back up. love the vids keep up the good work.
hi how are you hope you doing okay with all i just would like to know if i did a good combinations i have two dn-5000 cd players and i am using the denon DN-X1500S , i would like to know if it is a perfet combination to use the serato scratch live sofwera with it please let me know !!! thanks
good video, I run technics SL1210 mk 2's - serato scratch and a pioneer djm 400, and the mixer does it all for me, it can handle scratching, and is a good mixer for house parties and small clubs if you are only running two inputs, anything else can be cured with just a bit of preparation (serato is also really helpful when using loops and samples, as it gives you an aditional 5 'banks' on top of the 5 on the djm400. )
well.. i have a club mixer... a vestax pmc 280, with 2 phono inputs and 6 line inputs.. i have 2 cdjs ans 2 turntables... so its good, i can have one cdj and one turntable for chanel, wich i like that, it has some effetcs that i used sometimes.. and xlr ans rca outputs.. i think is a good mixer, and not too expensive!! great video.. ;)
The amount of choice these days in mixers is amazing. Pro Audio Equipment stores are going to be bias, but johngr2007 has hit the nail on the head about being informed and trying out the equipment before buying it. As always, an entertaining and informative video Brian!
Perfect for the mixers. Most of the time the shops tell you either, "most of these mixers are reliable" or they have one they think is great and they use... but what kind of DJing they do and you do are different and the mixer doesn't fit all your needs.
Salespeople can be great resources for product knowledge or they can be ignorant to the product but VERY loyal to thier wallet. It depends on where you go and who you talk to.
I suppose that's why I really wanted to do this video: To get people thinking about what they really need.
I have some new vids coming up tomorrow, and I was already planning to do a video about mixers this coming weekend. I saw you post this video, and I think what I have in mind for a video about mixers this weekend will compliment quite well. Good video!
Great video brian. The denon dn-x1500s looks like a great piece of kit. I read some good things about it. I am just a beginner, but in my opinion always read independent reviews, look at djforums, and the most important thing is to try the mixer out for yourself.
I looked at the Denon X1500 there earlier today crazy really now your showing it here hmmm its a sign lol.How does that mixer work out for you ?
I would need 3 channel minimum, full kill eq ,tank build quality, nice long up faders , which ,for me should have some resistance. A quality crossfader but importantly for me not too loose .adjustable maybe ?
A sampler and a few effects would be a bonus but i could always add them on at a later date
oh , rubber knobs would be a nice touch on a mixer imo
any ideas
I know its a 'go and try some' scenario really but I live way away from any shops which might, if I'm lucky ,have some mixers in , so the more chat and input the better
hmm well, you could probably get away with the little Pioneer DJM400 I show in the video, although the faders are pretty loose and I'm not sure if the crossfader is adjustable. I know the Denon has an adjustable tention crossfader and all the other toys you seek. The other thing I didn't mention in the video is that I look for a 3 band mic EQ (so I can take out some mid when I need to).
the DJM400 only has the 2 channels though, I would need three minimum ,possibly 4 for effects ( if that sort of thing is not onboard )the mixer will not leave the studio , I could at a push stretch to 700UK.
I am seriously looking at the Denon.. have you read the review on scratchworks . c om? how do you feel about it ?
also looked at the Rane Emapth £650 ish .. I'm just not sure
Actually, the Pioneer has 4 channels, but only 2 line faders. When you think about Channels, think about how many things you can plug into the mixer. When you think about line faders, think about how many of these things you can play at the same time.
my bad , I meant faders, I use 3 vinyl tt's so I would need the 3 minimum faders for mixing and a fourth would be nice so I could add a pc to the set up at a later date (after saving again )
Oh yeah, these are just 3 mixers I had here in front of me that happened to be 19", Club, and Battle. There are several choices out there, so check 'em all out! I still think Denon is the best BANG for the buck.
definitely appears good value just a few of the reviews ( ie scratchworks etc )have me seeking more knowledge)
I'm beginning to lean toward the Rane from what i am reading online ...I just dunno tho
Vestax , hmm now I used them a lot back in the day (lol)and enjoyed them very much but reading today tells me that they are not what they once where ....
I did a couple of videos on the Denon mixer that are linked in the discription of this video. Not sure what scratchworks had to say about this mixer, but I absolutely love it! Very solid and has all the toys you want.
fair play Bri , thanks much I appreciate the vid and i am sure others will too . I will go check the links but what about the Rane Empath a tempting price not too different from the Denon ? , have you ever used an Empath ?
Great Vid! maybe you could do a video on choosing the right sized/type rack. I made the mistake of buying an extremely combersome 10 space rack :P It could also include information about spilting up you amp rack and main mixing/fx rack.
U is the standard unit of measure for vertical usable space, or height of racks (metal frame designed to hold hardware devices) and cabinets (enclosures with one or more doors). This unit of measurement refers to the space between shelves on a rack. 1U is equal to 1.75 inches. For example, a rack designated as 20U, has 20 rack spaces for equipment and has 35 (20 x 1.75.) inches of vertical usable space. Rack and cabinet spaces and the equipment which fit into them are all measured in U.
very good video brian very useful info. it has a bit to do with the cash you have as well. always go for quality it will last longer and if you ever sell to upgrade it will hold its price better.
Two turn tables and a microphone.

Most turntablists use the Rane battle mixers. I would tend to follow the herd and go that route.
