I have no clue what a woman like u is doing with a victoria secret card in the first place but anyways...I just researched why california is in such a heavy debt and every website I opened on the subject had an offering for a different credit card, I thought it was pretty funny...but then I realized how sad that was (for americans that is). usa = BOOM*
Preach it, sister! Felt sooooo good to put those scissors thru that plastic. I put down my BOA in March. Gotta budget now. But, that is ok. There is so much s%#t I DONT need in my life.
why is the focus on AIG executives when the focus should be on the major news network executives?
ABC, NBC, CBS executives were treasonous and betrayed the public trust when they distorted the election coverage and campaign reports that enabled Obama to acquire the office of the president.
AIG executives giving themselves bonuses pale when compared to the largest scandal ever perpetrated upon the American public by the major news media executives.

ouch ! the victoria secret's card. Ha, really the other day i told them if they want me to buy they need to lower their prices. Seriously, I used to buy from them all the time but now no way ! Unless the prices come down ☼
I cut up my credit cards, now I am being sent offers now more than I used to receive. If you don't pay your credit off and fail to even pay the minimum, they don't really come after you. They may send you countless letters and ring you up ten times a day, but you'll never actually end up in jail, unless you commit fraud.
We should all just max out the cards and not pay. The ideal solution is to forgive our debts, and start over.
I can honestly say that I have NEVER felt compelled to buy ANYTHING that I have seen advertised on the television. It all goes in 1 ear and out the other.

I did this in 1987 and have been debt free (except for my home which was financed at a fixed rate of 5% & I will pay THAT off in March) ever since. I estimate that I have receieved at least 2,300 "pre-approved" credit card offers since then (@ 2 per week).
The next step in BLAMING Americans for this planned "collapse", will be going after those who are in debt. Mark my words! This is a transnationalist world bankers POWER grab! They WILL come for EVERYTHING you own!

My Mom told me, back when I was young enough to listen, "Interest is what keeps poor people poor." I keep one credit card, for convenience, paid off at the end of the month. Every month. No interest, no finance charges, and no fees. Ever.
Why isn't simple fiscal discipline taught in schools? Because they're GOVERNMENT schools.
You can cut them up and never use them again. You will probably still get a bill in the mail saying you owe them something. Maybe they will send you a notice that they are raising your rate because your account has been inactive.
Memo to self-proclaimed "conservative" Republicans who (supposedly) want "less" govt. - For any of you who did NOT vote for RON PAUL during the primaries - when it COUNTED:
You CHOSE not to listen.
Don't PRETEND that the "current" crisis comes as a surprise, or that you weren't warned (by many) of the inevitable consequences DECADES ago in the 80's - when the "fiscally conservative" (lol) CREDIT CARD president made RUNAWAY DEBT the national RELIGION. You "lost your way" a LONG time ago.
In my opinion. Hold on to one credit card. Clear up the balance. Once in a month. Use it for a small purchase and pay the balance the next day. Don't want to damage your credit rating.
I recommend if you cut up your credit cards and have NOT closed your accounts to take the card number and phone number and also write down the remaining balance on paper. You may move and need to call the credit card company for change of address. You also want to keep a close eye on all monthly statements with a balance or no balance for theft!
I did that a long time ago....well a month ago lol. I also closed all my checking and savings accounts....SCREW THE BANKS!!!! My home is luckily paid for and any utilities I go in and pay cash.
I felt such relief when i cut mine up last year - such fun! Still have to keep one for work; but that too shall go soon... Great fun - spend, spend, spend... LOL
I'd do the same thing but I only have one card these days and I use it to buy things online. It's a BOA card (gag) but I'm applying for Simmons First visa right now. It has the same very low interest rate without being from a company that Satan would be proud to run.
I now spend money almost exclusively on survival related equipment and food, with a few tools for work now and then. A nice set of solar cells are going to be my next purchase.
Oh the good old Kohl's charge card. Gee my mother was (was meaning she's been dead little over six years ago) addicted to her kohl's charge and often over charged her account. My dad, the banker by profession, would often get notification on his computer at work telling him that she over charged her account. Yep she would swip and he would find. She got in trouble for it many times. Infact she she was in such debt that she secretly opened a bank loan just to pay it off.
Thank you for your thoughtful and heartfelt videos to date. Would you consider expanding the expose's by commenting on the Clinton Chronicles and the testimony against Ms. Clinton by Peter Paul. Peace, Love and Light from New York City.
The banks took the free taxpayer bailout money and than loan some of it back to the consumers in the form of credit cards at 28 % interest . WHAT A RIP OFF .
With 2 or 3 credit card offers coming in the mail every week... turned them all down. Hence no debt and nothing to cut up. Darn, I don't get no stinkin' cut up credit card party. :)
just got a letter from citi credit card you have not used your credit card in two years now ..so we are closing your account .ohhhh darn ..got chk for 87 cents return on over payment..run rite down to bank and cash that bad boy
was emergency card kept in back pack just in case ohhhh booo hooo ..never paid a finance charge in my life on any card..basicaly free book keeping and nothing else..get a dozen new card applications a month now
Good job!!Bank of America is the worst too...In my area if you want to cash one of their checks and you don't have an account with them, they are making people get fingerprinted.....EVIL!
Yes, consumer credit can only exist with fiat. However keep in mind under this system without debt there is no money. That is part of the reason the Fed will spend, spend increasing prices wiping you out as your income does not go up as fast as rising prices. Thus forcing many people to go into debt to make ends meet.
Ah, you've confused "fractional reserve" with credit. I understand why you would do it, "fractional reserve" is so pervasive.
A credit card has nothing to do with fractional reserve banking, any more than a checking account does. They can be abused through fractional reserve manipulation, but they work just as well with 100% reserves as they do with fractional.
You should do some more reading to understand why the quantity of gold in circulation is irrelevant. youtube.c om/user/misesmedia
If I buy something on credit card, true, at first the money is not fractionally reserved.
If I buy a treasury bond it is also not fractionally reserved.
In the case of a credit card, pools of debt can be created and sold like a treasury bond that I can buy.
Now here is where it get's interesting. ;)
I can sell both these bonds to a bank. And in turn the bank can and in most cases buy the bonds with money that does not exist using the fractional reserve system.
You have yet to tell me how a credit card, or, in the more traditional monetary language, a "revolving line of credit", can't work in a 100% reserve system.
You said it wouldn't, but you do not support your assertion.
"treasuries and credit card debt is not originally created out of nothing it's sold to you and me."
So don't buy it. That doesn't answer your assertion.
Please tell me: Why can't I grant you a line of credit and have it denoted with a plastic card? Why can't you use that card to make purchases, which I then pay for, presenting you a single bill for the balance at specific times?
In other words, why can't credit cards exist in a 100% reserve system?
Again in my second comment I mentioned that credit cards could exist with a gold standard, but asked the question who would buy the debt when you ran out of money?
Most people in the public and banking sector would not loan to consumers on a 100% reserve system. It's to risky, when consumption is not wealth generating production is.
I don't understand this fixation you have on "buy the debt".
Why can't I issue a credit card as my own investment? Why do I HAVE TO SELL this debt, rather than hold it myself (or my company) for the purposes of making money?
The reason the credit card company would sell the debt is so that they can issue more debt, once they receive the capital from the debt sale.
The credit card company operates on 100% reserves thus to allow more lending via credit they have to sell the debt. And they can also make a profit on the sale.
You're not paying attention. Yes, that's one way to do it, but there is no necessity to do so.
Also, it has nothing to do with fiat vs. commodity money.
Your original assertion was that credit cards would not exist without fiat currency, because somehow fiat currency is based upon "debt".
The issues have nothing to do with each other. Credit cards are just a revolving line of credit, and old and well established type of loan long before the Federal Reserve.
Yes my point is it will not exist with 100% reserves only. Is it possible I also acknowledge it is possible, but not probable because of the risk factor of default during deflationary periods in a local area.
So it will be easy for you to show me that there were no such things as "loans" or "lines of credit" or "checking accounts" prior to the Federal Reserve.
That is what you are trying to assert, which I have demonstrated as specious over and over.
"the risk factor of default during deflationary periods"
That's why it's called "investment". There is always risk. If you don't like that, then don't loan out your money.
"What I did say is that consumer credit would not exist"
Which is a pie-in-the-sky assertion without any backing in fact. All you do is assert how it's too risky.
Fine, then don't do it.
"there isn't enough money"
Again, demonstrably false. The quantity of money in distribution is irrelevant, because money is fungible. Maybe you didn't know that there used to be an American "mill", or 1/1000 of a dollar, just as there used to be hundredths of a Japanese Yen in circulation.
Or change it to "I don't expect there would be much consumer credit, due to its inherent risks, without all the artificial limits on liability and loss that the Federal Reserve system has created."
I did state, after you responded, that my opinion was not an absolute and again reiterated it several times only to receive angry responses. Like it was life or death.
I stand by my belief that with a 100% reserve requirements credit cards for consumer consumption would not exist. The reason for my belief is that money supply that can not be expanded with out human effort for a real and tangible item, creates high risks that are not worth taking.
think of it this way, if you held dept with the mob for example and decided to hold it instead of "paying up" they would put a hit on you, come in and bust your knee caps!
Sadly, that is the result of making small, high-interest loans illegal. The market goes underground, and the most violent and ruthless types, ah, "rise to the top".
true, however they only thrive on those who would "buy into" loans to begin with, if more would chose not to get a loan at all, then they would go out of buiness
I could say the same thing about repulsive plastic shoes.
It's a good thing that basic personal economic wisdom can be taught. So just as I would not make such loans illegal, I can hope to put them out of business through lack of demand too.
obviously it is better to have no debt at all however it is a good idea to have a credit card(s) available for the purchase of food and medicine if you lose your job! if it comes down to it feed your family on credit and if you cant pay the money back then fuck'em, its not the end of the world, its not like they are going to break your legs.
Thanks for the reminder about the media's love fest with Obama...uh, I mean spending (sorry, habit) over the holidays.
...And why the h*ll do your listeners always comment on your looks?! Okay, you are a babe. I agree, but it is frustrating that listeners comment about your looks and not your message. Does this ever bother you or is it good just to get the compliments? Curious.
Compliments are great---It's the bozos that only put comments about the color of her dress or other asinine remarks. CV1122/Vicki? deserves more credit than that.
Great vid Ma'am! i would do the same but never have a credit card. i do keep getting calls, telling me i could get one or two. Oh yeah the Vitoria secret?, i don't look good in a banana string anymore. Those days on stage shaking what momma gave me for the ladies is long behind me. That's why i went into comedy:)
Is the United States just a country constantly in debt? I mean, if the Fed lends money to us at interest, then we're just living in debt all the time, right? Is there any way to reverse this?
Good posting!!!I got rid of my credic cards as well about 3 months ago when they jacked up my interest rate for no reason, then dropped my line of credit. My wallet is much smaller now!
Obama cant do jack. Other then take over the typical messes left by republademz ever since JFK got wacked.
Cv, your dead on when you cut those cards and throw them away. My Brother Inlaw Always bitching he has no money. Working 2 jobs and his wifes working. They dine out constantly and refinance anualy. A little extreme, cutting up your credit cards. How about:
1. paying off all your credit cards.
2. use one CC (paid off every month) that has cashback benefits so you keep a good credit score.
3. keep one CC for emergencies.
No I'm not a schill for the CC's.

CONGRATS!!!!

In my opinion. Hold on to one credit card. Clear up the balance. Once in a month. Use it for a small purchase and pay the balance the next day. Don't want to damage your credit rating.
popcur 3 years ago
I recommend if you cut up your credit cards and have NOT closed your accounts to take the card number and phone number and also write down the remaining balance on paper. You may move and need to call the credit card company for change of address. You also want to keep a close eye on all monthly statements with a balance or no balance for theft!

Woo Hoo! Take that, Bank of America! Yes!

Yes, consumer credit can only exist with fiat. However keep in mind under this system without debt there is no money. That is part of the reason the Fed will spend, spend increasing prices wiping you out as your income does not go up as fast as rising prices. Thus forcing many people to go into debt to make ends meet.
A God awful system.
This time however it will not work.
davincij15 3 years ago
"consumer credit can only exist with fiat."
Is there some reason that a credit card can't be denoted in units of silver or gold? No.
Even checking accounts pre-existed the Federal Reserve, and a check is just as much a "promise to pay" as a credit card receipt.
You might see a predominance of "debit" cards rather than "credit", but there is no reason both can't work exactly the same way they do now.
CurtHowland 3 years ago
But what you won't see is the GOVERNMENT living on debt, and I consider that to be a very good thing.
Anything that restricts the actions of government is, to me, a good thing.
CurtHowland 3 years ago
Well it could but who would buy it. Gold is limited but fiat is not.
Banks buy a package of credit card debt and create the dollars out of nothing to do it.
Banks risk is some what low as they can get a bailout if it does not work out.
davincij15 3 years ago
Ah, you've confused "fractional reserve" with credit. I understand why you would do it, "fractional reserve" is so pervasive.
A credit card has nothing to do with fractional reserve banking, any more than a checking account does. They can be abused through fractional reserve manipulation, but they work just as well with 100% reserves as they do with fractional.
You should do some more reading to understand why the quantity of gold in circulation is irrelevant. youtube.c om/user/misesmedia
CurtHowland 3 years ago
Ah, No I have not.
:D
davincij15 3 years ago
They can, but they don't have to be.
You have yet to tell me how a credit card, or, in the more traditional monetary language, a "revolving line of credit", can't work in a 100% reserve system.
You said it wouldn't, but you do not support your assertion.
CurtHowland 3 years ago
uh? I thought I was clear?
Simply put once more is, treasuries and credit card debt is not originally created out of nothing it's sold to you and me.
If banks buy it they can use fractional reserve banking.
You do know that the Federal Reserve has packaged credit card debt right?
davincij15 3 years ago
"treasuries and credit card debt is not originally created out of nothing it's sold to you and me."
So don't buy it. That doesn't answer your assertion.
Please tell me: Why can't I grant you a line of credit and have it denoted with a plastic card? Why can't you use that card to make purchases, which I then pay for, presenting you a single bill for the balance at specific times?
In other words, why can't credit cards exist in a 100% reserve system?
CurtHowland 3 years ago
Again in my second comment I mentioned that credit cards could exist with a gold standard, but asked the question who would buy the debt when you ran out of money?
Most people in the public and banking sector would not loan to consumers on a 100% reserve system. It's to risky, when consumption is not wealth generating production is.
davincij15 3 years ago
"cards could exist with a gold standard"
Exactly. No problem at all.
...but then you say this:
"who would buy the debt when you ran out of money?"
The same people who would now, those who thought they could make a profit by holding the loans.
But first, why do I have to run out of money?
"Most people..."
Then they won't be in the business of making loans.
CurtHowland 3 years ago
The people that buy the packaged credit card debt now are banks. Well, with the credit crunch it's only the Federal Reserve.
davincij15 3 years ago
The best thing that could happen is the complete erasure of the Federal Reserve and its "system".
With truly private banking, people would have to be more careful with investments, and "bankers" would be liable if they make mistakes.
Rothbard went into great detail on these points, if you're interested.
CurtHowland 3 years ago
Oh, and "running out of money", isn't that what a credit line is for?
If I only have $10K, I only loan $10K. Make it a hard limit, rather than the soft limits present credit card issuers do.
(replace $10K with any denomination, weight of specie, or whatever, it doesn't matter)
CurtHowland 3 years ago
A credit card issuer's limit is the limit that someone else will buy the debt when they have loaned out their money.
davincij15 3 years ago
I don't understand this fixation you have on "buy the debt".
Why can't I issue a credit card as my own investment? Why do I HAVE TO SELL this debt, rather than hold it myself (or my company) for the purposes of making money?
CurtHowland 3 years ago
The reason the credit card company would sell the debt is so that they can issue more debt, once they receive the capital from the debt sale.
The credit card company operates on 100% reserves thus to allow more lending via credit they have to sell the debt. And they can also make a profit on the sale.
davincij15 3 years ago
You're not paying attention. Yes, that's one way to do it, but there is no necessity to do so.
Also, it has nothing to do with fiat vs. commodity money.
Your original assertion was that credit cards would not exist without fiat currency, because somehow fiat currency is based upon "debt".
The issues have nothing to do with each other. Credit cards are just a revolving line of credit, and old and well established type of loan long before the Federal Reserve.
CurtHowland 3 years ago
Yes my point is it will not exist with 100% reserves only. Is it possible I also acknowledge it is possible, but not probable because of the risk factor of default during deflationary periods in a local area.
davincij15 3 years ago
"it will not exist with 100% reserves only."
Don't tell me that I can't.
CurtHowland 3 years ago
I have not said you can't loan money.
let me say that again.
I have not said you can't loan money.
What I did say is that consumer credit would not exist because it's very risky compared to loans for production of a real good.
That does not mean people like yourself will not try in a 100% reserve monetary system.
So calm down.
Again my point is even if it did work there isn't enough money that could flow into a consumer credit system. But my assertion is it will not work.
davincij15 3 years ago
"What I did say is that consumer credit would not exist"
Which is a pie-in-the-sky assertion without any backing in fact. All you do is assert how it's too risky.
Fine, then don't do it.
"there isn't enough money"
Again, demonstrably false. The quantity of money in distribution is irrelevant, because money is fungible. Maybe you didn't know that there used to be an American "mill", or 1/1000 of a dollar, just as there used to be hundredths of a Japanese Yen in circulation.
CurtHowland 3 years ago
"So calm down."
So, prove your assertion.
Or change it to "I don't expect there would be much consumer credit, due to its inherent risks, without all the artificial limits on liability and loss that the Federal Reserve system has created."
But you stated an absolute, not an opinion.
CurtHowland 3 years ago
I did state, after you responded, that my opinion was not an absolute and again reiterated it several times only to receive angry responses. Like it was life or death.
I stand by my belief that with a 100% reserve requirements credit cards for consumer consumption would not exist. The reason for my belief is that money supply that can not be expanded with out human effort for a real and tangible item, creates high risks that are not worth taking.
This is my opinion.
davincij15 3 years ago
"This is my opinion."
It is my solemn and sincere hope we find out whether you or I are correct. Soon.
CurtHowland 3 years ago
I hope so to buddy.
davincij15 3 years ago

rad4life1 3 years ago
Sadly, that is the result of making small, high-interest loans illegal. The market goes underground, and the most violent and ruthless types, ah, "rise to the top".
CurtHowland 3 years ago
true, however they only thrive on those who would "buy into" loans to begin with, if more would chose not to get a loan at all, then they would go out of buiness
rad4life1 3 years ago
"if more would chose not to get a loan at all..."
I could say the same thing about repulsive plastic shoes.
It's a good thing that basic personal economic wisdom can be taught. So just as I would not make such loans illegal, I can hope to put them out of business through lack of demand too.
CurtHowland 3 years ago
correct :)
rad4life1 3 years ago
obviously it is better to have no debt at all however it is a good idea to have a credit card(s) available for the purchase of food and medicine if you lose your job! if it comes down to it feed your family on credit and if you cant pay the money back then fuck'em, its not the end of the world, its not like they are going to break your legs.

Is the United States just a country constantly in debt? I mean, if the Fed lends money to us at interest, then we're just living in debt all the time, right? Is there any way to reverse this?
amfanman 3 years ago
Yes. Close the fed.
sitesprocketdotcom 3 years ago
Can we get the United States to print it's own money in parallel with the Fed? Would this work?
amfanman 3 years ago
The fed would have to stop printing and the new currecny would have to be used to pay the feds debts.
Having conflicting currency would only devalue them both, and speed up inflation.
